The 50s ones are collectors pieces.

The new ones (from the late 80s onwards) are excellent.

@TheBrokenWing1: Sounds like it's from "Eugene's Trick Bag" by Steve Vai. It's from the movie Crossroads. Vai plays it in a much higher key but the way this guy is playing it is pretty cool. Vai very well could have copped it from some Classical piece. Sounds Bach-ish.

I wonder what it would sound like in the hands of a finger-stylist extradanaire such as Tommy Emmanuel, rather than this 'strummer-bummer". Prolly needs to re-tune every 3 minutes the way THIS guy plays. Hard to listen to that noise.

You really could if you were playing them side by side. The Taylor is bright, the Martin deep (think Johnny Cash), the J-200 is very very deep and a basic Ephiphone dingy. All but the Epi use solid woods which gives them a richer tone. I owned a Taylor 410 but now own a Martin D-28.

If you're in the market, go to a store with a tape recorder and play several. Then go home and listen. You will find the tone and guitar you like. It's hard to watch and shop guitars on youtube. Hope I helped.

If an Epi makes you equally happy to a Gibson, Martin, Taylor, Santa Cruz, etc. pocket the extra cash, pick long and prosper.
