Classic. The music is called "Prelude to a Championship" and is part of the "One Shining Moment" suite that Barrett wrote for the NCAA Championship. This is the pinnacle of NFL Football right here. With that classic CBS open, Don Robertson's voiceover and Brent Musberger. Perfect!
The current NFL Today on CBS needs to bring back that theme song. The one they've been having since 2003 sucks. Plus, it would be so nice for them to get rid of Shannon Sharpe and bring back Irv Cross. Also, CBS should put Greg Gumbel back to calling games as the number 1 announcer instead of Jim Nantz.
The Giants beat the Broncos 39-20 in Super Bowl XXI to win their 1st title since 1956 3 months after the Mets beat the Red Sox in 7 games to win their 1st World Series since 1969.
I suppose it would have been good if I'd read the description on top right... I know Don Pardo was/is NBC/didn't make sense that he'd be doing this for CBS, but is sure sounds just like Don Pardo!!!
The reason why the start of One Shining Moment is in the intro here was because originally One Shining Moment was to premiere following the end of Super Bowl XXI however due to time constraints it didn't air and CBS brass decided to use OSM for the end of the 1987 NCAA Tournament Coverage and the rest is history.
I remember Brent Mustburger saying in an interview that this two hour long pregame was the longest Super Bowl pregame at the time. Writers were asking CBS "what are ya gonna do for two hours?"
A stark comparison to the five hour long drama the NBC is putting togather for Sunday.

you really ought to capture directly instead of recording it off tv. Canopus makes a pretty good analog to DV video converter.

When did Don Robertson the original voice of CBS Sports pass away?

@TimFrith24 I think he's still alive; but apparently retired around the time CBS lost the NFL.

lol -You are looking LIVE at some random trees and houses. They could be near the stadium. They could be in another country. We may never know!

NOW...You are looking live at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.
Guess that proves that comment was probably not recorded live (that or the guys in the truck screwed up the video feed)

Thanks for posting this.
I have the game on tape but I always love seeing this stuff because of the memories and the fact that I am a Giants fan.
It was our first Super Bowl.
The first of four so far.
Go Giants!
