  • what camera is that in 8:51 - 8:56 ???

  • the ancient camera that is used performs better than any i have seen in low light. xD

  • oohh!! 120, my favourite!

    Thanks for posting.

    Keep shooting film!

  • This film really does show to me what is as stake, all this technology developed over decades going to waste. For something that whilst odviously digital is more conveniant.

But in the end, 35mm, will give you a higher quality image! Adox 25, blown up to its limitation size (roughly 2m diagonally), is equivelent of 50mp...OH NO SORRY 500mp!!!

  • I also know some chemists who are looking at figuring out a new photochemical solution to create film stock ( a cheaper way) and also processing that recycles all the silver back into raw stock. Again, if there is a will, there is a way.

  • I wonder if it's at all possible to somehow create a compact machine that can do this for you. Imagine that. I bet even if film goes away from the mainstream there will be a dedicated fanbase that will figure out a way. Perhaps just asking for the amount of feet you require and only paying for that rather than letting millions of feet go to waste. If there is a will, there is a way.

  • What the hell is "photographic film"? Never heard of it.

  • Note at 0:51...why Fuji Japan may be impacted. The coating machine shown at 3:10 was last used in the mid '60's and was narrower and much slower than today's machines. I'm today's dude shown at 5:02. The slitter shown at 5:19 is making 120 format film. At 8:41, the film made today is 30-100 times more consistent than anything made back in the 50's.

It is sad to see that Kodak mastered the art of film making moments before it's demise. At least a few in Hollywood stll love film.

  • i would love to see how they made kodachrome!

I bet its a very complex process!

  • bare hands in all those chemicals cant be good!

  • Film is great-have literally shot and processed miles in my lifetime. But getting it processed these days-it's hard to find a decent lab. Friend of mine just switched to digital, in part because had last two rolls of print film screwed up. The lab people are getting out of practice, the chemicals are getting stale from just sitting around, the machines gumming up.

  • That's really cool. But it sucks to work in the dark all day.

  • @tangjkd good work opportunity for blind people, I'd suppose

  • maybe in still photography film can be replaced by digital but in motion picture, nothig beats film!!!

  • @cutestalien Yeah, but that's what they said when the first digital still cameras came out....

  • its truly wonderful and a reminder of a time when products were made 'hands-on'. It the eternal attraction of film; You load it by hand, its emulsion is physically altered by light, the negs or dia positives are then archival objects. Fractions of time you saw and captured, and leave behind when you leave this world.

Yes, I believe digital to be the greatest con, albeit a victim of the way its promoted as a "solution" to inept photography etc.

  • Superb stuff!

Shoot it now, while you still have the chance.

  • I love the music they use

  • I miss this stuff so badly.

  • heugelijke momenten!

  • Awesome! Even though its more than 50 years old, still looks modern.

  • Film rules!
