i volunteer at petsmart and the cats are forced to be in the same place as other breeds of cats. i get along with most of the cats it just that they don't like each other. can i carry like a whistle? to break up the fight?

Methods:

REMEMBER: NEVER STICK YOUR HANDS BETWEEN TO FIGHTING CATS. THEY WILL SCRATCH/BITE YOU, THEY CANNOT CONTROL THEMSELVES IN "THE HEAT OF THE BATTLE", SO TO SPEAK

1) Spray Bottle: It just needs to be filled with water, set on "stream," and spray it at the two fighting cats, IGNORE ALL OTHER CATS. This will distract the cats. A distracted cat cannot fight.

IF THEY ARE REALLY TUSSLING:

2) Broom: Get a broom, USE your broom, to swat ONE cat away. The soft bristles will not hurt the cats.

3) Loud Noise: If your two cats are fighting, quickly fashion a sound-maker using quarters and an empty jar. Once you have made this, shake it, further distracting your cats. Remember, a distracted cat cannot fight. ---Air horns work particularly well at distracting cats, particularly outdoors between the hours of 12-6 am.---

when my cat gets into a fight with a feral, I just hold a broom in the air near them, and that pretty much stop fighting

if cats fight i pick up the one that started the trouble i hold its front legs together as i hold it then i move if slowly to the other cats face and let it take a couple of whacks,

Wouldn't an air horn be damaging to their ears? They have such heightened senses, I'd think that would be really painful. Good tips otherwise.

SERIOUS? i bet you think one should just run up and try and break up the fight by HAND don't you!!?! cat's cannot control themselves in the heat of the battle, so to speak!! i would much rather risk giving my cat permanent hearing damage than possibly be bitten/scratched by a 7lb cat, because cats cannot control themselves in the heat of the battle so to speak!! you cannot take any chances with these animals, and if it takes risking their health, so be it.
