Really briht lihts will change them to yellow/orange unless they have been black a long time. Then they won't change. All you can do is try, lights for coral should work. As you can see your second question is a bit more difficult. Start with a 15 and work your way up. Learn to decapsulate brine shrimp cycsts. good luck.
i brought 2 female kuda seahorses and had them for 2 weeks and havent seen them change color yet, do u know why they havent changed color?? im also going to try and breed them when i get some males, is there any tips you can give me? like what size tank for the babbies?
Google seahores yourtown (replace yourtown with the name of the town in which you live) most places have a marine aquarium store, they should have seahorses.
Yes you need a mature salt water setup. Google can help you with that too. Tank must be setup at least 6 weeks before adding animals.
Yes, with the exception of 2 small fry tanks. Fry are sensitive to higher nitrate levels so having separate systems for them allows for easier nitrate control. Once they are 6 weeks old they seem to tolerate nitrate better. FYI: keeping the tanks cleaned of waste is a very time consuming process. :-)
You have a ton of comments on here so forgive me if this has been asked. I'm currently in the process of setting up a system very much like this and have access to a continuous supply of fry thru a public aquarium I work for. They have an erectus exhibit but no program to rear the fry. I have taken it on as a personal project. I would love to pick your brain further... but my 2 main questions are #1 - Are all these systems utilizing one sump (In other words, all the same water).
why dont u just get a house near the ocean and get running saltwater that wont require no pumps, manage the way for the water to refill and empty the pond not to hurt them while changing the water for the pond. how come out of 100s jst a few survive!
there sooooo tiny =) .....awwww I love them !!! can you buy seahorses ??? and how long do they live for ??? and if you can buy then can they be mixed with any type of fish in a tank ???
@pornoslut Captive bred seahorses can be purchased in many marine aquarium supply stores. NEVER buy wild caught seahorses as they are almost impossible to wean onto non-live food and almost always starve to death within a relatively short time. This particular species lives for around 5 years in an appropriate environment. There are a few other salt water fish that seahorses can co-exist with, proper research is a must before adding tank-mates. Pipefish, yellow clown goby, several others.
@rsatov thank you very much for the info =) . it would be a while before I would think about getting any seahorses bc im just starting hairdressing school so I have to focus on all that first . But when I do have the time I will def do some research on where to get them and all that . Thank you though for taking the time to answer my question =) . are they expensive ??? I just think they are amazing little creatures =) have a nice evening ! Emily
@DeoDewHD Many marine aquarium supply stores sell captive bred seahorses. See above post. Google should help you find a salt water fish store in your area. You can also try seahorse.org as some people there sell some. Learn about salt water aquariums before you order any fish.
@sstt7932 This is about 2 chapters of the aforementioned book. Baby brine shrimp less than 2 hours hatched. Brine shrimp cysts MUST be chemically decapsulated prior to hatching. Failure to do this will kill all fry. Once hatched, they must be immediately harvested because the only nutrition in them is the yolk sac which they begin to consume as soon as they hatch. They can be refrigerated for several days which slows their metabolism so they do not consume the yolk sac.
@sstt7932 when they are larger, fry can consume older brine shrimp that have been enriched or "gut loaded". Once the yolk sac is completely used up, they will begin to feed, about 48 hours after hatching. A product called selco or super selco is added to their water which they consume. Selco is high in nutrients which feeds the fry. As they grow, fry can be fed small quantities of finely chopped frozen mysis shrimp and eventually be weaned to full size frozen mysis.
@sstt7932 While feeding, consideration must be given to water quality which is affected by decomposing food and waste. Tanks must be siphoned several times a day to minimize ammonia/nitrate. Although food is important, water quality and flow-rate is equally important. There is no easy way or quick fix. It's a lot of work and dedication. Good luck.
@beah312 I must admit that it was indeed a special experience. It's been a long time since I stopped breeding but still think of it daily. Having interested people to discuss it with keeps the fun alive. Thanks.
@sstt7932 If only it were that simple. I would have to write a book. If you are eager to put in 18 hours a day, 7 days a week and have a fair amount of extra cash then your best bet is to visit seahorse.org and do some research. If you read through hte comments here and on my other seahorse videos, some of your ?'s may have already been answered.
@MrReefhead I don't breed any more but. It took 10 months @ 16 - 18 hours a day plus over $10,000 invested before I sold my first seahorse. The 1st shipment was 25. I was up to 300 a month at 18 months with a goal of 1000 a month. I did a series of tv ads with Telus that brought me $10k. I stopped when i had a heart attack. I figure I made about $5 an hour including the tv ad. On the other hand, if my health was different, at 1000 seahorses a month, the revenue would have been incredible.
Nevermind all the negativity to keeping seahorses, I think you have done well in breeding and caring for these guys :) Besides, if its "cruel" to keep seahorses, is it cruel to have dogs, cats, birds ect? People are dumb. Simple.
Hi, I was wondering what type of setup you use for the fry the first days after birth?
I have frantically been researching and have finally come over the Kiesel method.
However too late for this first batch as my male (purchased as kellogi) had been hiding well and I didn't even know he was pregnant until 2 days before the birth. I would very much like to save any future fry. Thanks!
The same arguments can be used against every pet we have chosen to adopt. Minimizing the negative impact is the best any of us can do. Criticizing those that bother to make the effort without any knowledge of the financial and personal commitment doesn't help at any level. Take the time to read through all of the posts here and in my other videos, look into the practices and impact of traditional chinese medicine, check out seahorse.org and arm yourself with some knowledge. Then come back.
@tamaram55 Even if it kills them . . . you forgot that part . . . it continues to amaze me how people make assumptions without any knowledge. I have never heard of any studies that suggest insanity is a possible condition in fish.
@rsatov I can't believe you, as a business person, called that person a loser! VERY unprofessional! I wasn't aware of the huge need people seem to have for seahorses. I know that keeping the wild ones safe from us is very important. But it just seems to me that it would be better if you gave them a somewhat more enriching environment, more like home, at least with plants. They must be permanently affected mentally, growing up with no stimulation, just as any other animal or person is. Right?
@tamaram55 I am not seeking any business, simply to educate. If you too bothered to read, if there were other things in the tanks they would poison themselves with their own waste. Waste has to be manually removed from each tank 3 times a day. This setup is 16 hours a day of work to keep clean. if it is not clean, they die. sort of defeats the purpose to make it pretty. besides, they are fish. do you really think they care?
What is the survival success rate for this species? What percent of them survive the first week and first month? And first year? I'm just very curious.
In the wild, less than 1% of this species survive to breeding age. In this situation, over 70% survived to adulthood. Most deaths occurred between 6 weeks and 20 weeks with very few before or after. Compared to wild caught seahorses that are almost never able to be weaned to frozen food, tank raised are weaned at an early age and therefore have a much longer life as owners tend to get lazy in the production of live food, slowly starving wild caught animals to death.
Hi, Im actually working on creating a sea horse ranch of my own to breed endangered seahorses. I was wondering what kind of tank I should start with? I dont want to buy tons of tanks before they start breeding, so I'm going to start with a pair. Thanks for the awesome vid!
I look at your video and Im at a loss of words! I have been breeding erectus seahorses that i catch here in New Smyrna Beach, Fl for about 8 months now, and I have had very little success. I was wondering if you could go into detail about your fry tank, and maybe the whole beginning process. I just cant seem to figure out what Im doing wrong. If you could help me out I would greatly appreciate it!!!
One day I will finish writing a book that I have started but that wont be today. My best advise is to read the information available on seahorse.org - it is where I learned most of what was needed. If you have specific question I will answer them. A lot have been asked and answered right here.
Babys eat newly hatched baby brine shrimp (hatched les than 2 hours), as the get bigger they eat enriched baby brine shrimp (48 hours old) and then they are weaned onto frozen mysis shrimp which is available in pet stores.
no actually it wouldnt be like writing a book.........
more like an act of god......
also are your horses benthic or palagic because that would have alot to do with your set-up and if you are successfully raising all of those to sell than you should explain your methods because your having such good success with something that is blowing up in the aquarium world and it would benefit you.....
Although I usually respond to questions, explaining the system would be similar to writing a book. If you read through the comments of this and other vids i have posted, many common questions have been answered.
Seahorses are the most docile creatures in the sea. I have put my hand in a tank and within a few minutes have 50 attatched to my fingers with their tails and they let me drag them back and forth in the water.
Seahorses at my local fish store cost around $60 Canadian last time I looked although I've seen another sell them for $250. I may stop and see whats shakin these days.
If I were looking for seahorses, I would google +seahorses +cityname of where you ;live. Most salt water aquarium stores sell them. Make sure they are tank raised and not wild caught as tank raised will already be eating frozen mysis shrimp which is available at pet stores.
Because they don't have bums to sit on. Seriously though, since seahorses MUST "hitch" all tanks have ample hitching posts. Since keeping these seahorses alive is my main priority, being able to effectively clean the tank is as important as being able to provide an adequate supply of appropriate food.
I do wish people would take the time to look through some of my previous responses to similar opinions so they can educate themselves before asking questions that have already been answered.
Appreaciated your hardwork on seahorse breeding. As I know, different size of seahorse will demand different size of food. That already make the work intentive. No saying the water maintainance yet. For a new born seahorse, you still give them the baby brine shrimp? And these are 2 hours hatched baby brine shrimp?
REally Great. Today I just visit a research central that doing the seahorse studies. And manage to see the new born seahorse babies. But according to them, they can not survive more than 8 days. The water salinaty at 15 ~ 20 ppm and feed by green water, kopipod and rotifel. Do you have any suggestion? Or you could share us more about your success key. We are in Malaysia, johor state. Appreaciate that anyone could share the feedback. Thanks.
To keep the babies alive they must have 2 things. Acceptable water quality and appropriate food. Water quality is as simple as maintaining acceptable parameters for a salt water aquarium - keeping a close eye on nitrate. High nitrate levels are not well tolerated by the fry when many other sea animals are fine with it. Appropriate food in my case was baby brine shrimp. Cysts must be decapsulated before hatching and be refrigerated less than 2 hours hatched.
Really like your setup. I wanted to breed H. erectus and H. barbouri a few years ago. For now I lack both time and funds for the seahorse endeavor, but I've had limited success with some North American pipefish and think a few years down the road I'd like to follow your example. Thanks for breeding seahorses, I'm going to forward this video to several friends. Best of luck!
I can not imagine L.A. not having a salt-water fish store, one htat sells corals and clown fish. Since seahorses are salt-water fish, thats where I would look. A quick google shows "Reef Hot Spot" on West Hyde Park. If they don't have tank raised seahorses, don't buy them.
First and most important, seahorses are in danger in the wild - mostly from traditional chinese medicine but partially due to the aquarium trade. Captive breeding reduces the strain on wild populations. Secondly, they sell for anywhere from $60 - $250.
My opinion would be that the effectiveness of any alternative medicine is dependant on the individuals beleif that it will work. Sort of like accupunture or hypnosis. Since the Chinese use huge numbers of seahorses they certainly believe it works.
the babbies eat newly hatched, live brine shrimp and as they get bigger they are weaned onto frozen mysis shrimp which is available at most pet stores that sell fish.
You obviously are very knowledgeable and care deeply or you wouldn't have done as well as you did at keeping these babies alive! Kudos to you! May I ask why you stopped breeding? Also, where would be a good place to get healthy seahorses?
Thanks . . . I stopped breeding because I had a heart attack that made it impossible for me to work on the seahorses for a while. I lost about 25% even though the rest of my family did their best to keep things in check. I realised how totaly dependant the horses were on my health.
What part of the world do you live in, I may be able to direct you to a sh supply.
I live in Michigan in the USA, so if you could direct me that would be great!! Yes, many animals rely most completely on their care giver. I hope you are doing well now and sorry to hear about the heart problems.
all fry tanks recieve all their water flow by using a feed/overflow in each tank. The fry are so sensitive to current that the flow is reduced to a very slow rate and huge overflows to minimise vaccuum are used. In the tanks witht te smaller babbies, an air pump makes bubbles that ensure strong water flow past the overflow so the little guys cannot get stuck.
i first thought the same thing when i saw this video, but this guy is actually breeding these and helping the population, in the wild, out of 1500 babies, only 1% (roughly) even survives to adulthood, and loads of seahorses are caught for the aquarium trade and medicine each year, so by breeding captive seahorses, he is reducing the number of wild seahorses taken from the ocean :)
It's better to breed them in an aquarium rather than ppl going out and taking them from the wild. This eliminates extinction and allows nature to do their own thing.
i think its great but i mean its a bit cruel... you should put um in huge aqwariums not little tiny tank i mean i would be pretty pissed with all my bros bumpin me
Mother nature lets less than 1% survive in the wild compared to my 70%. Larger tanks would be impossible to keep clean enough to provide a healthy environment. Each tank gets cleaned 3 times a day or else the waste would build up and decay and turn the water into poison. At half an hour each I spend a lot of time sucking shit.
They are very easy to care for once you learn how to care for a salt water aquarium. This is also very easy. Learn to mix and test water. Change 10% of the water every 2 weeks. Feed once a day. Clean glass once a day. Thats it. Simple eh?
You can't house seahorses and perculas in the same tank - the seahorses will starve and the percs will likely eat the babys. Male seahorses have a brood pouch and females don't. The pouch is very obvious below the belly where the tail begins. They will breed on their own when they are ready. Keeping hte babies alive is another story all together.
i saw 2 striped seahorses at my petstore for 80 bucks i want to breed them in my 55 gallon.. if i only want to get 2 how can i make sure i have a male and female/ sex them/ then how do i breed them. i have a 55 gallon with a couple clown fish in it
Yellow are usually the species h.kuda and yes, anywhere up to 2000 per brood for that species (so I've read). If you don't want them to stay black I would highly recommend you invest in some much brighter lights.
I thought it was because they were still small that they're black and that they will become yellow as they grow, but you hafta have brighter lights in order for them to become yellow?
All the parents = one male and one female. They have 800 or so exactly every 15 days. They have their own tank in the kitchen, see my video "Seahorse Birth Video".
Wtf? 800 in 15 days with only 1 male and 1 female? I have a yellow seahorse couple that aren't yellow yet (they're still blackish) kept in a normal tank with other fish and stuff. Are they gonna be able to reproduce and have that many?
I'm thinking of getting a pair of sea horses and maybe a starfish or something..what size tank do you recommend? I know random, but just wondering, b/c you seem to know a lot about them
Consider the cost of food, synthetic seawater mix and the incredible amount of time spent caring for the babys, and hte fact that wholesale prices are not nearly that of retail, I am working cheap . . . below minimum wage I would guess.
yes i suppose but why dont you sell it to public and not wholesale?? you will get muuch more put it in your local ad or something i would pay up to £45 each for one of thoughs sea horses. is this in your house or where you work though??
I stopped breeding them over a year ago so no, they aren't for sale. It's simple to have them mate - put them in a tank and they will do it. Keeping the babies alive for more than a day or two is a whole different situation. Money, knowledge and an incredible amount of time is all that is required.
Deyamm!!! Ranch is right! How many horses you have in there? I like how it's nice and clean in the whole room, but is it ok to have sooo many in one big tank? The big ones have all different colors! So pretty!!!
Have to keep them clean to keep them alive. That's why the bottom of the tanks are bare - that many horses in one tank makes a lot of poop. A bare bottom makes it possible to syphon the bottoms 3 times a day. As long as the tanks are clean, and hte water quality is optimal, we can have as many horses as the system can support. A couple of thousand isn't impossible but the work never ends.
I had seahorses once and during my divorce my ex-husband wouldn't let me take my salt tank. During the divorce they had babies and he allowed me to have 1. Then cause he didn't know how to care for any of my fish tanks they all died even the parents. I set up a tank last night and I am going to the pet store for damsels so I may get it established then I am doing seahorses again. But can't find any here in Vegas. Any ideas. Heidi
I'm sorry that really sucks... I dont know where you can find them.. But i have seen them in tropical fish stores... thats pretty much it. I hope you get them going again ^_^
Let's see . . . they are born into this environment and know no other. In the wild, less than 1% survive compared to 70% in this environment. Once they are sold, their new owners generally provide a more attractive environment.
This is so stupid. The tanks are perfectly clean and they live grouped in sizes. What do you expect, a ferrari? The tanks are so big too. I can't even believe he is going to sell these. It's grown up in such great environment.

Really briht lihts will change them to yellow/orange unless they have been black a long time. Then they won't change. All you can do is try, lights for coral should work. As you can see your second question is a bit more difficult. Start with a 15 and work your way up. Learn to decapsulate brine shrimp cycsts. good luck.

A lot have been asked and answered right here.
rsatov 1 year ago
Cool what do they eat
hondata70 1 year ago
Babys eat newly hatched baby brine shrimp (hatched les than 2 hours), as the get bigger they eat enriched baby brine shrimp (48 hours old) and then they are weaned onto frozen mysis shrimp which is available in pet stores.
rsatov 1 year ago
no actually it wouldnt be like writing a book.........
more like an act of god......
also are your horses benthic or palagic because that would have alot to do with your set-up and if you are successfully raising all of those to sell than you should explain your methods because your having such good success with something that is blowing up in the aquarium world and it would benefit you.....

Although I usually respond to questions, explaining the system would be similar to writing a book. If you read through the comments of this and other vids i have posted, many common questions have been answered.

If you pet a grown Seahorse will those fuckers bite?
iCrucifix 1 year ago
Seahorses are the most docile creatures in the sea. I have put my hand in a tank and within a few minutes have 50 attatched to my fingers with their tails and they let me drag them back and forth in the water.
rsatov 1 year ago
@rsatov Ugh that's sooo cute ^^ They look so adorable man, How much will one Seahorse cost you?
iCrucifix 1 year ago
Seahorses at my local fish store cost around $60 Canadian last time I looked although I've seen another sell them for $250. I may stop and see whats shakin these days.
rsatov 1 year ago
@rsatov How much is that in American currency?

do you know where i could get one from
katsuhiiro 1 year ago
If I were looking for seahorses, I would google +seahorses +cityname of where you ;live. Most salt water aquarium stores sell them. Make sure they are tank raised and not wild caught as tank raised will already be eating frozen mysis shrimp which is available at pet stores.

djEvilDude 2 years ago
why dont u have at least one thing they can sit on in there..
UshouldKnowSon 2 years ago

MrLimch 2 years ago
REally Great. Today I just visit a research central that doing the seahorse studies. And manage to see the new born seahorse babies. But according to them, they can not survive more than 8 days. The water salinaty at 15 ~ 20 ppm and feed by green water, kopipod and rotifel. Do you have any suggestion? Or you could share us more about your success key. We are in Malaysia, johor state. Appreaciate that anyone could share the feedback. Thanks.
MrLimch 2 years ago
To keep the babies alive they must have 2 things. Acceptable water quality and appropriate food. Water quality is as simple as maintaining acceptable parameters for a salt water aquarium - keeping a close eye on nitrate. High nitrate levels are not well tolerated by the fry when many other sea animals are fine with it. Appropriate food in my case was baby brine shrimp. Cysts must be decapsulated before hatching and be refrigerated less than 2 hours hatched.
rsatov 2 years ago
Really like your setup. I wanted to breed H. erectus and H. barbouri a few years ago. For now I lack both time and funds for the seahorse endeavor, but I've had limited success with some North American pipefish and think a few years down the road I'd like to follow your example. Thanks for breeding seahorses, I'm going to forward this video to several friends. Best of luck!

where does one even GET a sea horse... cuz i live in l.a and i want one
soccerroxnum1 2 years ago
I can not imagine L.A. not having a salt-water fish store, one htat sells corals and clown fish. Since seahorses are salt-water fish, thats where I would look. A quick google shows "Reef Hot Spot" on West Hyde Park. If they don't have tank raised seahorses, don't buy them.

to sell them so other people could buy them? its for fish tanks and home aquariums and stuff
Natania95 2 years ago
First and most important, seahorses are in danger in the wild - mostly from traditional chinese medicine but partially due to the aquarium trade. Captive breeding reduces the strain on wild populations. Secondly, they sell for anywhere from $60 - $250.
rsatov 2 years ago
Do they even work for traditional Chinese medicine or is that all just a bunch of malorky?
Feijoada1 2 years ago
My opinion would be that the effectiveness of any alternative medicine is dependant on the individuals beleif that it will work. Sort of like accupunture or hypnosis. Since the Chinese use huge numbers of seahorses they certainly believe it works.
rsatov 2 years ago
Same reason that people breed dogs or cats; because they love the animals and want to share them.
ShiroRyu927 2 years ago
@bxdominican16 They are endangered, that's why.
EmoraChan13 1 year ago
the babbies eat newly hatched, live brine shrimp and as they get bigger they are weaned onto frozen mysis shrimp which is available at most pet stores that sell fish.
rsatov 2 years ago
You obviously are very knowledgeable and care deeply or you wouldn't have done as well as you did at keeping these babies alive! Kudos to you! May I ask why you stopped breeding? Also, where would be a good place to get healthy seahorses?
brittanykillian10 2 years ago
Thanks . . . I stopped breeding because I had a heart attack that made it impossible for me to work on the seahorses for a while. I lost about 25% even though the rest of my family did their best to keep things in check. I realised how totaly dependant the horses were on my health.
What part of the world do you live in, I may be able to direct you to a sh supply.
rsatov 2 years ago
I live in Michigan in the USA, so if you could direct me that would be great!! Yes, many animals rely most completely on their care giver. I hope you are doing well now and sorry to hear about the heart problems.

rsatov 2 years ago
all fry tanks recieve all their water flow by using a feed/overflow in each tank. The fry are so sensitive to current that the flow is reduced to a very slow rate and huge overflows to minimise vaccuum are used. In the tanks witht te smaller babbies, an air pump makes bubbles that ensure strong water flow past the overflow so the little guys cannot get stuck.
rsatov 2 years ago
could one of this fi tin a ten or a 55 gallon
Luke0zz 2 years ago
rsatov, sorry to bother you again, but do you use flow pumps to make a current in your seahorse tanks? If so, what ones?
Also, i left a comment on your main profile, please check that out :D

omg get over it there not being tortured or anything they look happy and in good condition to me -slaps a bitch- thanks
BradleyIsAwsome 2 years ago 3
i first thought the same thing when i saw this video, but this guy is actually breeding these and helping the population, in the wild, out of 1500 babies, only 1% (roughly) even survives to adulthood, and loads of seahorses are caught for the aquarium trade and medicine each year, so by breeding captive seahorses, he is reducing the number of wild seahorses taken from the ocean :)
charzarg 2 years ago 3

It's better to breed them in an aquarium rather than ppl going out and taking them from the wild. This eliminates extinction and allows nature to do their own thing.

i think its great but i mean its a bit cruel... you should put um in huge aqwariums not little tiny tank i mean i would be pretty pissed with all my bros bumpin me
jamestush 3 years ago
Mother nature lets less than 1% survive in the wild compared to my 70%. Larger tanks would be impossible to keep clean enough to provide a healthy environment. Each tank gets cleaned 3 times a day or else the waste would build up and decay and turn the water into poison. At half an hour each I spend a lot of time sucking shit.

They are very easy to care for once you learn how to care for a salt water aquarium. This is also very easy. Learn to mix and test water. Change 10% of the water every 2 weeks. Feed once a day. Clean glass once a day. Thats it. Simple eh?
rsatov 3 years ago
is it veeery hard to keep one as a pet..? specially for me, someone who has never had a fish in her life? haha no, seriously...
Laurinnha 3 years ago
You can't house seahorses and perculas in the same tank - the seahorses will starve and the percs will likely eat the babys. Male seahorses have a brood pouch and females don't. The pouch is very obvious below the belly where the tail begins. They will breed on their own when they are ready. Keeping hte babies alive is another story all together.
rsatov 3 years ago
i saw 2 striped seahorses at my petstore for 80 bucks i want to breed them in my 55 gallon.. if i only want to get 2 how can i make sure i have a male and female/ sex them/ then how do i breed them. i have a 55 gallon with a couple clown fish in it
nocityboy 3 years ago
Yellow are usually the species h.kuda and yes, anywhere up to 2000 per brood for that species (so I've read). If you don't want them to stay black I would highly recommend you invest in some much brighter lights.
rsatov 3 years ago
I thought it was because they were still small that they're black and that they will become yellow as they grow, but you hafta have brighter lights in order for them to become yellow?
ScrewSchool593 3 years ago
All the parents = one male and one female. They have 800 or so exactly every 15 days. They have their own tank in the kitchen, see my video "Seahorse Birth Video".
rsatov 3 years ago
Wtf? 800 in 15 days with only 1 male and 1 female? I have a yellow seahorse couple that aren't yellow yet (they're still blackish) kept in a normal tank with other fish and stuff. Are they gonna be able to reproduce and have that many?
ScrewSchool593 3 years ago

P.S what do you feed the sea horses when they are first born??
boihaggos1 3 years ago
Consider the cost of food, synthetic seawater mix and the incredible amount of time spent caring for the babys, and hte fact that wholesale prices are not nearly that of retail, I am working cheap . . . below minimum wage I would guess.
rsatov 3 years ago
yes i suppose but why dont you sell it to public and not wholesale?? you will get muuch more put it in your local ad or something i would pay up to £45 each for one of thoughs sea horses. is this in your house or where you work though??

r they for sale i want a male and female so they can mate and i have a lot of them
ray2k1 3 years ago
I stopped breeding them over a year ago so no, they aren't for sale. It's simple to have them mate - put them in a tank and they will do it. Keeping the babies alive for more than a day or two is a whole different situation. Money, knowledge and an incredible amount of time is all that is required.
rsatov 3 years ago
oh ok where can i buy them ? bcuz petco and petmart dont sale them

Deyamm!!! Ranch is right! How many horses you have in there? I like how it's nice and clean in the whole room, but is it ok to have sooo many in one big tank? The big ones have all different colors! So pretty!!!
2jadeeye 3 years ago
Have to keep them clean to keep them alive. That's why the bottom of the tanks are bare - that many horses in one tank makes a lot of poop. A bare bottom makes it possible to syphon the bottoms 3 times a day. As long as the tanks are clean, and hte water quality is optimal, we can have as many horses as the system can support. A couple of thousand isn't impossible but the work never ends.
rsatov 3 years ago
its nice.... can i have one?

I had seahorses once and during my divorce my ex-husband wouldn't let me take my salt tank. During the divorce they had babies and he allowed me to have 1. Then cause he didn't know how to care for any of my fish tanks they all died even the parents. I set up a tank last night and I am going to the pet store for damsels so I may get it established then I am doing seahorses again. But can't find any here in Vegas. Any ideas. Heidi

Let's see . . . they are born into this environment and know no other. In the wild, less than 1% survive compared to 70% in this environment. Once they are sold, their new owners generally provide a more attractive environment.
