It's because, until the law is altered to be more modern, the current backwards stone-age laws of copyright would mean that his work would be removed for using scenes from an anime, but somehow putting the anime so it's flipped stops, or at least slows down, their ability to spot their own work/youtube removing it.
tl;dr it prevents/slows the video from being removed
