First I played it on my cousins' Dreamcast and simply fell in love with... Soundtrack was the main thing to win my addiction... Then I bought the PC version and beside I had problems having music playing during the races, several tracks, like Estrada Nova etc. were missing... Recently I merged my ripped PC version tracks with original OST and DC rip... made it a bit more expanded :) ... oh, yeah, beside the music, the game itself is still one of my favorites. First rally game that I enjoyed.

I use Windows XP, and I have set it to Windows 98/ME compatible.

It doesn't work I get an error code, what can possibly be wrong?

@MINItheFox well i downloaded the isos from a torrent (google sega rally 2 pc) and installed it with daemon tools lite, should work fine. the only thing that wont work is the music

@NitroTab1 I personally feel the Dreamcast version has that greater arcade look if played in 60Hz (PAL was only 50Hz which wasn't great). Though the PC version does look crisper in higher resolution. Not a lot in it

yes, you just have to set compatibility to either windows 98 or windows xp. It worked for me. Also, this game supports force feedback wheels.

I downloaded a version which displayed an error, then I downloaded another version that looks like it will load the game but it displays the classic error of ".... has stopped working" (or something like that, my windows is in another language, but I guess you know what I'm talking about).

If you tell me how did you get it to run it would be awesome ;)

Unfortunately Sega used Windows CE to port this over to Dreamcast. That's why we got a bad framerate and less details on the Dreamcast...

What do you mean they used CE? They used a mobile OS?

CE doesn't mean mobile. CE just means that it's an embedded windows. Microsoft and SEGA released Windows CE for Dreamcast to make it easyer to port Windows games to Dreamcast, but mostly with less performance.

There was this code for DC that removed some trackside detail. You know if you used that, played in 1st person, and raced without other cars(time trial) you get some of the tracks @60fps and most of them @60fps for a lot of the time.

The Saturn was nowhere near as powerful as the Model 2 arcade board. It has nothing to do with bits or number of processors.

The Saturn was, in reality, about 20-25% as powerful as Model2. In a million years, the Saturn would never be able to run an arcade- perfect Daytona, Sega Rally, VF2, or any Model2 game.

So the Saturn wouldn't have been capable of an arcade perfect conversion of Daytona since it would have had to have been based on the Model 2 board for that, which it wasn't.

To be fair arcade mode is tough- i too have only played this using the keyboard- the ONLY car it is possible to come first with is the Peugeot 205t16 :) Almost all the rest of the cars on the game make it hard to come even 2nd

The arcade version had more detailed car models and longer draw distances too, also the typical Model 3 FSAA. I can't wait for a dedicated Model 3 emulator. The fact that a Model 2 one has been done gives me hope!

The PowerVR2DC (aka CLX2) chip in Dreamcast cannot reproduce Model 3 graphics 100%, but it comes closer than Saturn trying to do Model 2 games.
