I really hate mine. I have a fixed retainer bottom and top, and it hurts. I so hate it. I have to wear if full time for 6 months! This is gonna be a long six months...
I wear a retainer and sometimes it hurts , nad it makes me gag and talk like im high or weard or something...... im going to try heating up water and soaking mine then put it back in ...kinda soften it up
i feel your pain! i wore them for 3 days after i got my braces off.. then stopped completely. just started wearin' them again (1 year later) and it hurts like a bitch! guess cause my teeth shifted back very slightly and now the retainers pretty tight as hell. going to start wearing them till my teeth get used to it again and the pain dies down. no pain no gain i guess. and i still cant fucking talk right either!
It's because the retainer kind of moves your teeth a little bit, and when you chew, those teeth hurt, because they are a little loose, i guess. I don't know how else to explain it. But i know what you mean, because if i try to eat right after taking mine out, my teeth hurt too.

I don't even have braces on top teeth but got a retainer to help stop the brackets on the bottom from breaking off when I chew.
And it hurts taking it off and now chewing hurts the top teeth. wtf?
