I like The Format's version better than Jeff Tweedy. It was off a complition similiar to the I'm Not There soundtrack called Listen To Bob but featured more famous artists like James Blunt, Jason Mraz and Anberlin.
Shaun - I was going to sit here with Bob, introspectively smoking a cigarette whilst gazing out of the window and pondering things, but after seeing this video I just pissed myself laughing instead - thanks man! :)
I found the song just recently, performed by a guy called Jeff Tweedy - and later I found Jerry Garcia (no ! not the icecream they sell with that name in some cinemas !) who performed it. I made my own version somewhere in between these guys. I send you a video if you appreciate... Go ahead, I really like your video style ! Senior Tones
Top post. The final verse on the Budokan Live version is a more poignant statement though: ("People tell me it's a crime, to remember her for too long a time, she should've caught me in my prime, she would've stayed with me").
God bless Bob (if I may call him so) for mixing it up, it's a great song however he chooses to sing it!
I am hearing genius. Dylan's profoundly moving lyrics and simple melodies are to music what mathmatical equations must have been to Einstein. Einstein's work was used to split the atom. Dylan's cuts right through the soul.
this must be one of the greatest songs ever written because in one level it's just a simple story yet on another level it's so much more. it's pain and loneliness and loss, it's life and yet it all makes sense and one can relate to it.
I love this song. I think the video is fantastic! I tried drawing on my computer once with the mouse and had an aweful time. You did a great job. The song has deep meaning and the video really adds to it. I love the pictures of Dylan in the middle too. Very cool song...and cool video =)
I just wanted to say that I started laughing at the start of the video at the animantion - I thought it that bad! However, it gets better and better and I think actually the video is brilliant. I can tell you've really felt this Dylan masterpiece. Well done :)
it's so sad and beautiful, best lyrics I've heard I believe. think it's easy to relate to (for some?) if you've lost a friend/lover for good, and suddenly you realize it was for no good reason and after all you've been through that person's still on your mind. nearly makes me cry jez
I have yet to hear this whole album. Great story within the song. That is what I like the most a song that tells a story. Dylan has done plenty of those and the anti-war songs.
Good song and good paint, bro.

is it just me or does anyone else feel that the "Parrot that talks" bit completely brings down the feeling of the song?
Django5198 4 months ago
@Django5198 not really. i always got the feeling that the parrot was just his incessant need to find her again broadcasting itself.
