  • Good song and good paint, bro.

  • is it just me or does anyone else feel that the "Parrot that talks" bit completely brings down the feeling of the song?

  • @Django5198 not really. i always got the feeling that the parrot was just his incessant need to find her again broadcasting itself.

  • I like The Format's version better than Jeff Tweedy. It was off a complition similiar to the I'm Not There soundtrack called Listen To Bob but featured more famous artists like James Blunt, Jason Mraz and Anberlin.

  • check out the jeff tweedy version of this song. it is almost as amazing as the original!

  • this is the strangest song off the album, the emotion of the lyrics is so weird..

  • Shaun - I was going to sit here with Bob, introspectively smoking a cigarette whilst gazing out of the window and pondering things, but after seeing this video I just pissed myself laughing instead - thanks man! :)

  • writer4peace you are clearly an idiot - the video is genius!

  • i prefer the live version, on the "world of hammond "clips.

  • i enjoyed that, tah mucker

  • Good grief that IS a stange hotel.

  • it also CANAL NOT CANNEL

  • Dylan at his best

  • Great song ... Makes me weep. But the video is not so good - too literal and amateurish. Sorry.

  • Just when i thought ive found all the great dylan songs I find this one dylan rules

  • LOL @ the literal interpretation of the images.

  • I want to do one for Visions Of Johanna, I think that could be cool.

  • terrible video, sweet song

  • A G O N Y

  • certainly an inspiring song. at 51 i can relate to this still. a simple song love it again.

  • Thanks for the pictures. Love the song.

Not trying to be a wise ass but you may want to check the spelling of canal if it matters, or not.

    Either way, Thanks !

  • GREAT VIDEO MAN: i will wirite spanish subtitles on this

  • this song save my life, blood on the tracks are the best sound ever

  • Its like a peice from Dostovesy .The writer is describing an incident .Yet the reader is inculcated in something more than an incident .

  • what a beautiful song -- there are so many moments on this album that make me catch my breath -- thanx for the video,i really like your cartoons too

  • lacks imagination

  • I think it was meant that way special!

  • quite a ...eh.. literal interpretation

  • LOL

  • Fucking great! Love it!!

Long life to Dylan and the Paint Program!

  • this is cute :) why don't you make more videos?

  • This video is sooo sweet !! I really love it !

I found the song just recently, performed by a guy called Jeff Tweedy - and later I found Jerry Garcia (no ! not the icecream they sell with that name in some cinemas !) who performed it. I made my own version somewhere in between these guys. I send you a video if you appreciate... Go ahead, I really like your video style ! Senior Tones

  • you should check out the KT Tunstall version of this song

  • I have it in my favorites

  • Top post. The final verse on the Budokan Live version is a more poignant statement though: ("People tell me it's a crime, to remember her for too long a time, she should've caught me in my prime, she would've stayed with me").

God bless Bob (if I may call him so) for mixing it up, it's a great song however he chooses to sing it!

  • Cannal? Canal

  • Love the song, very much enjoyed the video -

    Thanks!

  • but thank you for taking the time, it's much loved, good man...or woman

  • Love the song...When I hear it ... I know that

I am hearing genius. Dylan's profoundly moving lyrics and simple melodies are to music what mathmatical equations must have been to Einstein. Einstein's work was used to split the atom. Dylan's cuts right through the soul.

  • Couldn't say it better!

  • thumbs up my friend...(i'm the first thumbs up btw)

  • lovely ode to a beautiful song. nice to hear Bob Dylan's appreciatees can carry on his talent through beautiful language. well said

  • this must be one of the greatest songs ever written because in one level it's just a simple story yet on another level it's so much more. it's pain and loneliness and loss, it's life and yet it all makes sense and one can relate to it.

    respect to the bob

  • hey, this is simple but effective man, cool i love it

  • lol, i love you for making this video.

  • I love this song. I think the video is fantastic! I tried drawing on my computer once with the mouse and had an aweful time. You did a great job. The song has deep meaning and the video really adds to it. I love the pictures of Dylan in the middle too. Very cool song...and cool video =)

  • cool =)

  • Such an achingly beautiful song...

    ...good vid. as well.

  • I think he uses the idea of twins having identical rings.

  • I just wanted to say that I started laughing at the start of the video at the animantion - I thought it that bad! However, it gets better and better and I think actually the video is brilliant. I can tell you've really felt this Dylan masterpiece. Well done :)

  • There's a good Microsoft paint video someone did for the beatles song Rain. just search it and check that out.

  • it's so sad and beautiful, best lyrics I've heard I believe. think it's easy to relate to (for some?) if you've lost a friend/lover for good, and suddenly you realize it was for no good reason and after all you've been through that person's still on your mind. nearly makes me cry jez

  • Best lyrics,,, try God on our side and wait for the Judas line

  • ....yes thcarmine.

    Me too.

    sigh

  • i like it.

  • he didn't lost his twin in the rain but her ring

  • GREAT ANIMATION!!THANKS!

  • i also was born too late

  • Cool! :-)

  • Well done. We need more interpretations, however literal, of Dylan up on Youtube.

    Btw, it's canal not cannel.

  • geat

  • I have yet to hear this whole album. Great story within the song. That is what I like the most a song that tells a story. Dylan has done plenty of those and the anti-war songs.

  • Why do they have jiz on their hair?

  • oh yeh lol that was completely unintentional.

  • Love this song, esp. when played in this key. Great upload!

  • concrete blonde does a great cover of this song

  • listen to dave's true story doing the cover.. briliant song.. briliant man

  • Best song on his best ablum by far! Bob Dylan the great!

  • Can never get to much Bob Dylan
