  • This anime is easy to understand : lain is just taking heavy acid the whooole time... Duh

  • uno de is opening favorite.... XD

  • The wire = Second life

  • i love this so much...both the anime and this song <3

  • I can't decide whether this or Now and Then, Here and There is my favorite anime of all time, it's a really tough choice both are so amazing and changed my outlook on life in unique, distinct ways.

  • @kriitikko LMFAO your on drugs.

  • genial ... ,me enkanta esta cancion

  • Best op to anything ever.

  • Wow....and I have seen the series without the OP/ED. Was a bit more intense, but to miss out this song...

  • I really love this series (and this song)...even after watching it all the way through like six or eight times... it still develops. In a way, it seems like it rushes through some ideas...but it is nonetheless awesome, one of the best creations I have viewed through a screen.

  • "Sung by Brad Holmes"

    Whoa wat

  • I SWEAR TO GOD ITS SAYING

    "I am Poland"

POLAND GET OUT OF ANIMES OR I'LL KILL YOUR PONY.

  • sung by brad holmes? uhhh.... I have a hard time imagining a man singing this :p

  • i got it the first time i watched it and i was 18 then

  • 1.5x speed is cool

  • Who sings this song when i search up Brad Holmes i get a rock band

  • @HellzSaint28 this song was sung by Boa

  • This anime is very peculiar, only about 20%~50% of the story(or stuff if you will) is explicitally show, the rest is basically speculation. When watching this anime I feel like theres a bunch of stuff in it, but I simply cant get it all, thank god for google =p

  • I like the song

  • Half of the philosophical stuff in this anime went straight over my head, even after seeing this twice. And it's still one of the best animes ever made IMO.

  • @kriitikko You'll have to watch it multiple times, and every time you watch it again you end up realizing or noticing something new.. My all time rank 1 or 2 favorite Anime series right here. :)

  • An ex of mine tried to get me to watch this so many years ago. I just did about a month ago. Wonder why I put it off for so long

  • I never really liked this anime but this song burns in my head the 1st time I saw heard it....

  • wow there's a lot uh "passionate" people when it comes to watching anime.

The older animes were great but that doesn't mean one has to hate on the newer ones.

The world gets boring without the new stuff :)

  • I love this song, sounds like a lot of my favorite 90's alternative bands, collective soul, garbage, matchbox 20, just to name a few.

  • I really love this Anime, my friends and I are a into Philosophy. It's a Shame they think anime's only for kids because i think they should watch lain

  • @justcallmeHao It's more psychology, I mean even Freud makes a cameo.

  • @justcallmeHao they dont seem to really wanna learn xD

  • @justcallmeHao Couldn't have said it better!

  • @justcallmeHao not only lain, the whole arsenal of anime's!!!

anime's aren't only for kids.. such a shame people look at it that way without

even trying to watch a full anime.

  • I can't help you to breathe... "wtf, go to a hospital"

  • My favorite cyber girl <3

  • ~Amazing Opening <3

  • this is one of the most influential animes that i have ever watched!

  • What's this Anime about? Without ruining it if I decide to watch it.

  • ah the song is sung buy Jasmine Rodgers and the band is called Bôa i know i have there cd

  • which one is more difficult to understand: Evangelion or Lain?

  • @dreamdrawerable

Lain as a large number of going-ons are only implied.

Though both are easily understandable if you think about the show whilst watching it.

  • @Discreetuserhandle I'm not a guy that stays out of the comprenhention of this kind of animes, I understood Lain at the first time, what I tried to do with my question, is to ask the opinion of many people, that maybe never understood it, or also had problems to understand them

  • @dreamdrawerable

Both show similar topics, for example, existential problems. Shows the relationship between people, adaptation, repulsion, etc. In the opening Lain I like the phrase "and you do not seem to understand

A shame you seemed an honest man "Many people don't live in full consciousness, such anime tends to reflect on his entire life.

  • @colakoca I'm not askin' what the animes' meaning, I'm just askin' which was more difficult to understand, Why everyone is trying to explain me that, Can't I ask without having this kind of critics???

  • @dreamdrawerable

It's no criticism, you're touchy. The difficulty is that what is presented in the anime is not understood and considered to be meaningless to many people. For one Eva will be harder for another Lain

  • @colakoca that's the idea

  • The singers name is Brad Holmes? Really?

  • Comment removed

  • me gusta

  • It's like, thirteen episodes of the last three episodes of Evagelion...

  • @jybob12 Evangelion's last 3 episodes sucked...

  • @Turtithebest So you didn't really understand them :)

  • @Ki12B I understood both them and Lain(this one partially). The problem is the last episodes were the result of lack of bugget, nothing more. The dialogue was going nowhere to begin with. If you wanna do a analysis of the character, fine. But have a point to it. Eva doesn't. The movie End of Evanghelion was an improvment. Though is still funny how shows like Eureka Seven do this thing better and when it's the side story no less.

  • @jybob12 AKA Mindfuck.

  • @jybob12 That's Because It's For Smart People

  • @jybob12 Word.

  • @jybob12 You deserve a medal for that. 10/10 comment. Two thumbs up.

  • this song is so pretty:]

  • I love this song.

  • this anime was rather abstract. i had difficulty understanding what is going on in most episodes.

  • Those "stop hating what i like" people, are scum.

  • * Sung by : Konaka Riyu

  • @mothmanex It's by Boa. A British singer.

  • @NaruSakuHina5000 She is Korean...

  • @RozenKnight1990 She's British. Her mother is Korean and her father is an Englishman.

  • @NaruSakuHina5000 o_o ok my bad here...i thought the singer was BOA, the korean pop star, but in fact it was performed by the British band Bôa )))

  • @RozenKnight1990 Don't worry you're not the only one who made the mistake.

  • @LeifErickssonable Some non-anime animation can be quite good. Such as Persepolis and Daria. But there's definitely a lot more mature, intelligent anime out there than there is other animation. What dialectical44 said really annoyed me too. It is aggravating when people think something (such as anime or comics) is thought of as kids' stuff just because of its medium.

@dialectical44 Lain is a lot deeper than most live-action shows.

  • @dialectical44 First of all, its not a CARTOON!!!!!!!!!! its an Anime! Cartoon is a big difference! Damn...

  • @arachnophile01 well said

  • @arachnophile01

    Thank you.

  • @arachnophile01 U dumb

  • @arachnophile01 It exists in the minds of Japanese people as well... dipshit.

  • @arachnophile01 maybe because it mean "Animated" wich every cartoon is.

  • @dialectical44 close your eyes and shut your competer and there you go happpy?

  • @dialectical44 What a failure. *sigh*

  • @dialectical44 Law of internet simplicity is in effect.

"Don't like something, you don't watch it"

Plus if you well and truely hate it care to explain why you searched for a video of it to waste even more time to post a comment? I mean you ever get the feeling you've just wasted a part of your life? go do something productive you idiot.

  • love the song adour the anime and im the one who normaly watchs romances and happy magic thing u no lol

  • boaのアルバム買ったなあ 素晴らしい

  • やっぱりいい歌。

    boaには早く活動を再開してほしい。

  • esta niña debe ser novia de dony darko

  • Lain is a female shinji ikari......

  • @91Spearman Shinji Ikari is a pussyboy who cannot tie his shoelaces... Lain becomes a freaking divine, omniprescent entity O.o I think there´s plenty difference :S

  • @Fatelogic2nd Curious, how many times have you had the guts to pull open a searing hot metal door to save your friend's life? Or beat up a giant monster wile feeling the pain of a severed arm? Shinji also becomes a divine being in both EofE and the new 2.0 movie.

However personality wise they are completely different, if you want a female Shinji watch Secret of Blue Water (Gainax specifically created Shinji as a male version of Nadia).

  • @wildtwilight Couldn´t actually tell u, pal... The situation hasn´t appeared yet o_o

  • @91Spearman so true

  • I like this song and the anime

  • WTF IS WRONG WITH ME!!?

    ...I kinda like Lain...

  • Credits on the song are wrong -- it's by a little-known band out of England called Boa. Lyrics are by Jasmine Rodgers, I believe. Look up 'Race of a Thousand Camels' or 'Duvet' on Wikipedia.

  • Este opening no quiere salir de mi cabeza.. y ya han pasado meses..

  • so damn good anime and song

    ....

    JUST PRESS PLAY

  • That was a cool anime even if it didn't make since, there's just some things in life that end better that way, what the girl Lain is, is still a mystery to me, but it just seemed that the wire and the world were better off not knowing, to me that was one, no top best anime ending ever.

  • @AoAstar She's God. Either that or some divine being like a god, be it an angel, collective conscience of the Earth or may just the daughter of God (as the last episode in the clouds shows). No one possibility is ever made definite, but it is implied at least one of them is the case.

  • I love this anime and his song and you people arguing is ruining it >:(

  • Is this anime any good. Does it have a understandable ending that isn't bad or leaves you feeling shitty.

  • @Redjoker96 It is very understandable, but not intended to be watched once. Alternatively you can cheat and look up the answers as people have basically figured it all out (though some things have multiple interpretations).

It does have an upbeat ending, so you wont be left in a dark scary place, but it won't spoon feed anything to you so if you're looking for a mindless experience I suggest looking elsewhere.

  • @xffokcufxXx: The end is what explains the story and whit out the story the ending has no context. So to understand what you are seeing in Lain, you need to know how and why the ending is what it is.

This is why I think you need to see Lain twice, to be even able to understand what is it that Lain is.

So don't expect to be able to understand Lain, even if you watch it to the end, or at least not in the first time. If you can, good for you.

  • I'm a moderately intelligent person and I'm looking into Lain specifically because sufferingminotaur is being an asshat.

Congrats, sufferingminotaur, you've pushed me into this series' twisted embrace.

  • @WeWatchBadMovies What? A moderately intelligent person, wouldn't of been swayed so easily like an imbecilic neanderthal.

  • @VEHEMENTBLACK Not only is that the stupidest thing I've ever read (of course idiots can influence smart people), it's also missing the point of the post... a joke.

    u mad?

  • does anyone else get the impression that you are supposed to pick which of the two top comments to vote for?

  • never finished the anime, but I LOVED this song. Thinking back on it, I need to go and rewatch the whole anime since I just randomly stopped in the middle of everything. Maybe this time I can better wrap my head around what's really going on O_O

  • on dirait un peu The Cranberries

  • I find it funny that people come to a video about the opening to bitch about the series, if you don't like the series why are you here? (unless you are here because of the music of course)

  • it seems the years proceeding the year 2000 all anime became too cute and capitalism era began in anime anyone care to disagree ?

  • @SonsOfLiberity

Since early 2000 majority of anime switched to slice and life. Today very low title like this.

  • @SonsOfLiberity This. 90s anime was fucking amazing.

  • @UnderwhelmingPlywood indeed my good man . it was magical . im am now going to amazon and ordering the betterman series and after that the arjuna series and maybe some anime that were on Anime unleashed . the truth of the matter is im bored which these zombie people i see daily doing the same old shit with nothing interesting , rappers with busted ass rymes . i got a dream but i need to be self motivated anime is what does it for me . god bless all the anime lovers . peace.

  • @SonsOfLiberity Nope. You're just trying to hard to sound edgy.

  • @Menegoth whoa somebody forgot to pack their juice box and watch adventure time .

  • @SonsOfLiberity I respectfully disagree, yes, older Animes are pretty awesome but I've seen some newer ones that are still deep AND have cute characters. Try Gungrave, Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni, Gosick, Ano Hana, and Welcome to the H.N.K.

  • @SleeplessDingo maybe . but with honesty can you say some of those shows are more than a fad ?

  • @SonsOfLiberity Most all anime have been capitalist in nature, to garner more audiences. Even near the beginning of the industry, there have been works like Cutie Honey which relied heavily on fan-service. Similarly, there have always been deconstructionist works. Most Gundam series are about criticisms on war. Evangelion, Brain Powerd, Madoka, Legend of Legendary Heroes are all very thought-provoking or powerfully voiced social commentaries.

  • @byungheelee ok i agree if you make a show you must aim it somewhere , ok ? but have you noticed the animes have a weird sceney vibe that does nothing but tries to convert everyone to be glossy but has no moral value ? what im saying it needs more than to sell its dvds or digital copies . the value of anime is the shock value and the unknown perspectives not just to have cute characters .

  • This seems ineresting is it...wait does this has some1 putting a gun in a girls mouth

  • To all who didn't understand the story, Don't watch anime ever again.

  • Love this song. It pretty much sums up how I feel right now

  • the anime rally suk but i love this song really its amazing sound like the cramberries XD

  • continued... or bad with these ideas like rock and roll which has been known to be "The Devils Music" that can be used for good purposes and bad purposes it all in both how you look at it when you say something is of the devil you give him power over you which no one should say which a lot of christians fall into that trap in the end rock and roll was indeed crated by god for he gave the idea satan used that idea and warped it well this is coming from a person who is christian

  • i loved the ending stop reading if you want spoilers it gave the question on whether or not that god really exists when she asked the one guy how did you get the idea disproving that he was a god and making you think about things if you take this in to account especially when thinking about christianity all things are made for the glory and purpose of god it isn't too far a stretch to say that god gave those scientist the ideas to do what they do (as well as satan if you do believe)to do good

  • I LOVED THIS ANIME...

Cuanto quiero que LOCOMOTION vuelva a existir... *sight-.-'* realmente extraño mucho este canal... o que hagan un canal de anime y otros decente...

  • the opening is the best part of this lazy ass anime !

  • I've heard this somewhere before

  • No matter where you go...everyone's connected.

  • Reminds me of a song from the 90's

  • @ebos89 the anime came out in 98 :p

  • gracias

  • the "dislikes" are accidental, that explains everything!

  • reminds me of the ghost in the shell opening for some reason...

  • thats a good song :D

  • Sung by Brad Holmes? More like it's sung by a group called Boa. I have the band's actual CD.

  • @PsychoSpiral thats what i thoght it was too, this is the only vid where its labeled differently

  • singer name boa : its a group!!!

  • Wait why does it say sung by Brad Holmes? Isn't Brad a dudes name...?

  • One of the few intros that I didn't forward because I loved the song :p I thought it went so well with Lain's emotions.

  • LOLOLOL 2DEEP4U

  • I loved it !!!!

is lain a programa and why? why she has the same age in the end ? I have seen chaos head, steins gate, higurashi and others but this one it's kinda complicated or I didn't get some hints .

  • This song always puts me in a good state of mind and the anime I haven't seen in years thanks for reminding me of.

  • i want the PC lain has... so i can play BF3 when it comes out xD

  • I made it through 8 episodes before quitting, I'm surprised I even got that into it. I think it was the op theme, it was worth watching for that.

The characters were uninteresting, I felt no attachment to them (and I liked Shinji in NGE)

I'll revisit it again in a few years after my brain has developed

  • @Kuraianimezone Yeah, but we dont have the luxury of being able to ORDER the video from their archives. Its in gray, so I cant view it off of my TV.. :( I feel like crying!!!! :'(

  • Everything about this anime is so great.

  • @SydBarrett7 z

I love Syd Barrett. Also, I agree.

  • I'm on 6th episode, gonna watch rest later :) and this song is great

  • This song always spoke to my heart

    ...

  • ES uno de las canciones que me agradan aun en ingles

  • Help me to breathe.... ~♡

  • Well, I got through episode 3 so far, and I'm not sure I want to keep watching. This show is so, so very creepy and sad in a number of ways. And I swear, Lain makes Shinji Ikari look like the world's most sociable person. I see the beginnings of something good here, but I'm not sure I can get past just how chilling it is...

  • bellissima........

  • @KinomotoAkito lmao so ture XD

  • i cant stop crying man

  • @Shimlarian ....JAJAJAJAJAJAJAJA!!

  • @Shimlarian HAhahA

  • @Shimlarian Muhahahahahahahahahahha

  • @SparxofFlame jajajajaaj xD

  • @Shimlarian MHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

  • We watched this series for our human Psychology classes as well as EVA. I say that have a rather beat around the bush and rather puzzling theories of human existence actually that come to make no sense sometimes *Specially in Dubs* But in subs you kinda get the jist of what the sub messages are. Hell even a 7+ year old can figure out the meaning of EVA.

  • Bôa - Duvet

  • Wow die Vollversion ist SUPER und Wunderschön

Ich gucke mir gerade den Anime an und finde das der anime bis jetzt ganz ok ist *o*

    Lg Tim

  • No matter where you are... everyone is always connected.

  • One of the best anime music that i've ever heard ;P

  • man i remember watching this when Techtv was actually good x)

  • i am on a epic quest for the holy grail and anime like this, any help, preveisly conored animes inclued, grave of the fierflies, evangelion, elfen lied, higurashi, monster, hellsing, along with many other, but i am only na,eing the ones from this genra

  • @eliotAxor Trigun has a lot of neat Christian symbolism in it. Additionally, it's really philosophical. Not really a "mindfreak" anime like this, but it can get really disturbing at times. I don't really know exactly what you're looking for, but this could work.

  • Comment removed

  • @eliotAxor Have you watched Texhnolyze yet? It's Very Awesome! Also, try out Bokurano. (The anime has the same feel as Monster.) The manga of Bokurano makes Evangelion look like a Kid's Show! I recently watched an anime called Mnemosyne. It was made by the same guy that directed Lain. It has a nice mindf^ck. If you loved Lain, check out Boogiepop Phantom. But the Best Mindf^ck anime out there is Kurozuka. I hope you enjoy these! :D

  • @eliotAxor millennium actress is good

  • @eliotAxor You should check out D. Gray-man and The Legend of the Legendary Heroes (I know it sounds like cliche crap, but it's really worth checking out.)
