Because there is a difference between a car, a vehicle and an automobile. A toyota corolla is a car, a subaru sti is an offroad vehicle and a bmw is an automobile. And for the record, Ive had doubled the horsepower on an e36 before and never had transmission trouble, though the rear crossmember ripped off from the torque once, had to weld and reinforce it.

@AYEJAY666 Times change, new stuff replaces the old, question is how long does it take. It took decades for anyone to make anything as good as the Datsun 510, it took even longer to beat the e30. For the record, I got a chance to drive a newer STi, it was nice but in the end, I still take a bimmer. And nobody said about ricing out, Ill take a good old e30 325i and pull 400+ HP out of it all day long. Lets see: subaru 4 cyl already turbo barely making 300hp, me, 6 cyl, turbo, easy 400, 500 w/work
how much money would this little venture cost? lol I could buy a evo or a wrx out of the shop that would eat any e30 The very first RS liberty specs even beats the pants of that crappy e30.The same amount you will spend on a e30 to match factory specs of a subaru u could spend on a subaru and no matter what way u pull it apart it will beat it.
e30 is a pipedream bucket of shit, the wrx is a purpose built factory rally car.

Alright, let me elaborate, I could buy a clean stock 325i for 2-3 grand, port the head myself, valves, springs and pistons, lets say 2k. Con rods, seals, water pump, new timing belt, mild porting, 2k. Street suspension, 2k if we get fancy. Turbo w/ intecooler 1.5k-2k (5k if you want to pay for a big kit). So whats that 9 grand?

I can understand a sprinter,datsun or mazda,even with common conversions u would be lucky to have 200hp ontop of your factory specs.gearbox would be reemed so would your differential w/o the gears done. so add another 8k ontop for the g/box, custom t/shaft and diff ratio's lol

They completely take it apart and rebuild it, the car was never designed to do anything else. So a sucker buys one and cant figure out why the clutch went out after a week, cause it was designed to last one big bad race. Its like buying a sport bike and expecting the thing to last, not made to last...
@BigChiefWiggles You keep one stock it may be reliable unless you drive it like a rally car, then shit starts falling apart, clutches, transmissions, differentials, I know a guy whos on his third transmission right now. Another thing to consider is, the japanese already pulled everything they could out of the engine "safely", you start messing with those motors boosting hp and the repair bills will bury you. You could however replace and reinforce everything, which will cost more then the car.

Then Ill walk right past that factory spec, and keep walking till I find a spot where its comfortably fast, stop there and drive a classy car with style. You know the best part though? A stupid kid with his daddy cant walk into any dealer and buy exactly the same car as mine... plus girls love bimmers, fact!
a BMW will never do better than this car if you don't do a lot of changes in it..
Not even a m6 can turn, drift, or do half this car can do. they have fucking different resons to exist, beggining by the fact that bmw weren't made for tracks, but for street (even the high performances one).. And this car was made to hit the tracks, not the streets... Pointless arguing with dumb people.. they never learn
