My first NHL game ever attended was Flyers @ Jets in 1983 . They cleared the benches with a main event between Holmgren and Mann . Im searching for this on You tube , but so far I dont think it has been posted . Anyways ,, love these old time brawls
Those were the days...the rules these days allow pussies to act tough and take liberties only to hide behind the instigator rule. Kuliman tried and ended up getting popped by Gleason the other night.
I remember Phil Myre so well he played for the atlanta now calgary flames...also best brawl was with St.louis at the Omni in atlanta full house in 1976 i believe the st.louis player skated by n was out of view behind boards and charge at Myre and a bench clear brawl started....
When the Flyers came to Vancouver in the 1970's there was always fireworks. In a 1972 game a Canuck fan (a dentist) reached over the glass and pulled Don Saleski's hair. A number of Flyers went up into the stands, one of them chasing a fan up the stairs towards the foyer. If I recall right, a number of Flyers were arrested and hauled down to Vancouver police headquarters in their uniforms! Those were great game before they clamped down on fighting.
This is the first-ever NHL game I went to. I was about 9. Still remember watching Harry Snepsts & Paul Holmgren squaring off, which is where it started. There was only about 5 minutes left in the game and the Flyers were in front, 7-3, when this brawl started.
This game was on the USA network i think.

I remember watching this! It was the night the US beat the Russians. At the time the best fight ever. This game didn't end until 1 AM Central Time.

Was this during the time the Flyers set their record breaking Unbeaten Streak?

Dan Kelly was the best. He could call a hockey game AND a boxing match. He was also a good football play by play man too.

That was Steve Durbano who came out of the dressing room -- that happened back in 1973.
