  • Ralph was very good in the English Patient and Schindler's List. Interesting that both don't like him, it's a common view, but not one I share.

  • I found Ralph Fiennes to be perfect for the role. Detached, cold, unemotional, but a deep sadness and regret lying under the surface.

  • You're right about The Reader - the book was better and explained more.

I would like to hear your opinion about "The Wrestler." It was my favorite movie last year and it won a lot of awards abroad but was shafted at the Academy Awards. I think there's a lot of snooty, hoity-toity attitude at the AA, and they looked down their noses at a quintessentially American film.

  • Agree on Ralph Fiennes. How did he ever get an acting job? He would have made a great banker.

  • i love your insights and i love the reader!

  • The actor's name is typically pronounced "Rayfe", and not Ralph, correct?

  • the audio is awful for earphones. please mix it better next time

  • Yeah, it's about 95% on one side for each person. In this case it would be a lot better to have this mixed mono, beceause it's kind of off putting.

And if you keep it this way, at least reverse it so the audio is on the side the viewer would expect it, since it's reversed as it is right now.

  • oh wow i think ralph fiennes is incredible.

  • Look at all the booze in the background!

  • Can't wait for the Oscar predictions!!

  • They have their mic backwards

  • TheMustacheHero, are you sure your speakers aren't backwards?

  • I have headphones on, with a microphone that goes one way. In front of my face...in the left headphone I hear Lorenzo and in the right one I hear Marcia when on screen it's the opposite..

  • i don't understand all the fiennes hate in all the reviews for this movie.. i thought he was perfectly fragile and traumatized. his stillness was powerful.

i don't think the explanation for winslet's behavior is meant to explain all german/nazi behaviour. just shed light on a certain level of evil in that period that allowed nazism to thrive, coming from a place of simple ignorance and not necessarily a deep, humanity-hating evil.

  • I love your table setting! The flowers are so lovely! So are are comments!

  • Lol. I find that books always turn out better than movies do.

  • Thanks guys!

  • Thank you for the reviews. I enjoyed The Reader tremendously, thought the s/l appropriate to the period. Frost/Nixon next.
