I love this song so much. Ever since I was a baby, I had this wind-up white stuffed animal cat, and it would play this tune, without the lyrics. I didn't know where it was from, but I would listen to it over and over again. I felt happiness in the tune, but there was this sort of sad melancholy feeling.. and when we saw the play Cats, I instantly recognized this song. It filled me with that sense of joy and sadness simultaneously.. it was really amazing.

This must be Elaine Paige. Fantastic performance. We saw Cats last night. Traveling shows are good, but sometimes miss the mark here and there. Our Grizabella was less poignant and the instrumental background overpowered the vocals. So missed the effect heard here.

One of my old deputy principals in Primary school died while I was like year 6. Her favourite musical was Cats and this was her favourite song from it. I was in Choir at the time, so when the school had a memoral ceremony for her, the Choir sang this song. It was so beautiful and what introduced me to this fantastic musical <3
