  • This is track is telling us pieces of adventures and destinies beyond our imaginations.

Still the best Bioware ever produced in my opinion.

So much love so much details. more than 200 hours playtime, terrific characters!

Everytime an domestic hamster i know, for example from a good friend fade away, i quote Boos destiny "from the stars.." and earning strange looks ;)

  • best friggin song of all time...

  • best music in da world

  • there should be an option for epic in the reactions dropdown list! The very essence of baldurs gate!

  • I feel kinda weird actually that so many stories ends in classical 'death in battle' ending.

    Korgan

    Cernd

    Keldorn

Viccy gets poisoned (Damn you Lolth!)

  • This gives me shivers everytime i hear it....

  • I salute the brave soldiers of Saradush.

  • ^_^

    Awesome music.

  • Now this IS immersion. One moment you're in Hell, acepting the fact you're the spawn of the Lord of Murder, and then next moment you've been teleported to a city undersiege. When this music plays you can feel the fulity of what the people of Saradush face outside the walls. You can feel the fear the soldiers face on the battlements. And then you realise after everything you've been through, that you can cast off the shackles of your heritage and do good where others only do bad. Epic, just epic.

  • @DwinHoffiCymru "epic" is not powerful enough to describe that

  • I so hope that some day, someone is making a movie of the Baldur's Gate saga ... but that will probably never happen. And so it will hopefully rest in peace and never be forgotten.

  • The weird thing about all that is that even today, if I had the chance to decide between a state-of-the-art Dragon Age or over 10 year old Baldur's Gate II with ToB, I'd still take the latter for the same amount of money. In other games I just 'control' the main character. But when I play Baldur's Gate, I feel like I AM the main character. I so wish I could just close my eyes and be inside the game just once ... all the feelings, all the beauty, all the epic moments.

  • @Zwiebel4 you know..bioware should re release the BG series with HD graphics,( updated animations/effects and resolution) ..it would sell like mad..

  • @clovelywindheaven Oh no, I don´t want HD graphics or effects. I love BG as it is!

  • @Awathorn well there are allready mods.. to play 1920 x 1080 etc and moded animations (improved)

i recently re played it ...incredible looks so pretty..

    suggestion: go for it!

  • @clovelywindheaven or use icewind dales spell animations^^ deyz wuz luvly i'z tellz ya!!!!

  • Possibly one of the best soundtracks that were ever made for a game that I see as the greatest game I've ever played.

Baldur's Gate II is - even today - the benchmark of how an awesome RPG has to be.

I've never played a game that got me so involved into the mood. In TOB, you had such an overwhelming feeling of hopelessness and lonelyness. I still get goosebumps when I think about it. And the pure epicness ... the beauty of the art-style, the dialogues, characters, story, soundtrack ...

  • Minsc had the best epilogue I think. Was so poetic.

  • Oh this certabky brings back memories, very fond memories

  • This song always makes me so sad somehow. Like a truly legendary journey is coming to an end and the world is poorer for it.

  • this song brings tears to the eyes and lots of memories long forgotten. lots of ppl played this game and wandered the same roads of adventure and romance as i did and i bet you did it again and again for the reason that we share something in common the freaking 90s!!!! ;)

  • How can someone dislike this? damm ! it's the soul's language...

  • @XTSY

Maybe some people just suck ass?

  • Ok, in the real world we have radical religious fanatics and tsunamis and famine etc, but BG2 has Minsc so I would rather live there as long as this music plays

  • The fires have burn out yet the bells shatter as they call for mine last journey , as i take mine trusty sword knowing that this shall be the last of mine crusades i go... with no regrets, with a smile on my face the smell of far unknown calls forth.

  • i miss great games like this one, thumbs up

  • This is actually Melissans theme but it does not take away from the epicness of it :) Cheers for the upload :D Melissan seemed like such a nice and caring character till you found out what she was really up to; then you suddenly realize this theme was only really there to make you think she was kind hearted . Heh and who says Villains always have to have evil themes? :D

  • A great way to fool everyone to be sure; usually music gives away what a characters really like but not this time; it masked her real personality :) . When I heard this I really thought Melissan meant well and infact before I got near the end of this expansion I was thinking Bhaal would be the last boss. I do recall on the back of the box it said something along the lines of "Should Bhaal rise again the earth itself will weep blood". Ah well :)

  • You cant put into words how beautiful this game is, but I shall try.

Baldur's Gate isn't like most games today, simply because it binds us with every character, place, & scene in the game. In Baldur's Gate there is infinite adventure...infinite possibility's...Infinite freedom. In Baldur's Gate you have your own decisions & failures to make. There can never be a game as great as this, which is why Baldur's Gate will live in our hearts forever more.

    I'm 14 & haven't stopped playing for 3 years.

  • @Jared4242

Heh... Baldurs gate sure is a legend in RPG games. From PSX games I think legends are Final fantasy 7 and Suikoden 1 and 2. Now days best RPG for PC are Fable 1 and Elder Scrolls 4. Rest of those so called RPG isnt an RPG any more what we used to love. Now its all about graphics... Not about music or story line... I miss old type of making games

  • @Jared4242 Not to try and tarnish your otherwise great statement about the game, but i feel the real brilliance isn't from any sort of 'freedom' or 'infinite possibilities' because i find the game generally has one main route to follow, but it's the superbly brilliant and touching storytelling that really draws you so far into it. To the point where you genuinely care about every single NPC companion you ever meet and what happens to them at the end.

Regards, fellow BG series mega-fan :P.

  • This song makes me think of a rare encounter with a truly legendary character...

  • I am saddened by the fact that this song represents all i want from life, but can't get it, can't get a hold to it, can't express it. I dare to say, that this is what life should be. A song, so beautiful... a song that is life. A life that is a song. I wish you all a life worth of singing, for that my friends is the thing that echoes trough your eternity.

  • Brings back old memories, one of the best games out there, in my opinion of course, first time i heard this i actually shed a tear, especially at the end.

  • it plays when u r reading about the ending of your party mates, it is very sad.

  • It's poetic, it describes the path of the main character's life. This remarkable work they have done, is a piece of art. Wish they approached games design like this.

  • I miss Saradush. I love baldur's gate!

  • Too bad they never released an official Soundtrack for Baldurs Gate 2 and especially ToB. If any RPG deserved it, then surely this one.

  • @Disorganizer agree

  • @Disorganizer Agreed friend. But Shadows of Amn has some absolutely incredible music in it as well. Romance 1, Main Theme, Taverns to name a few

  • @Disorganizer @Disorganizer official soundtrack for BG2 was in Collector's Edition (vgmdb.net/album/1744). You can find it on torrent trackers e.t.c.

  • @Vermillion185

Y but only Shadows of Amn right? The Throne of Baal Music was a tad better.

  • @Disorganizer And there is some tracks from ToB (Main Theme, Bhaalspawn Battle, Melissan Battle & Choir) in good quality (mp3 320 kbps) - they was available on inonzur.com (composer's site)

  • @Vermillion185

thx alot, kindred spirit. Bg2 forever.

  • really really beatifull and epic music...

  • really reallly beautifull music...

  • Who's te composer?

  • @adrummerhead

Michael Hoenig did the music for the entire Baldur's Gate series.

  • @adrummerhead Actually, Michael Hoenig did BG1 and BG2 soundtracks but not the Throne of Bhaal expansion soundtrack. That's the work of Inon Zur.

  • @adrummerhead Inon Zur, the genius behind Bioware's Dragon Age soundtrack.

  • Long live Bioware

  • When I heard this track, I remembered that once you get the chance to kill Yaga Shura, Saradush has fallen and everyone inside has been slaughtered... including the little boy and his father (if you resurrected him). :'(

  • @Hamletfan that made me so sad also. I absolutly DESTROYED yaga shura for that and made every other member of the five pay for everything and Mellisan oh you dont even wana go there...

  • @Hamletfan It was bits like that which made this series one of the greatest RPGs of all time. That no matter what you might do for good or evil, if the Fates decreed it so, it would be. More importantly, though... it put the game on a more personal level, and made the ending that much sweeter. At least, it did for me.

  • this sign sucks

  • Best part of the Expansion was the Ending Epilogues ! thumbs up !

  • @Aelkamal You need not ask for thumbs up with so true a statement :P, they will come!

  • I just survived trials in Hell and before I know it, my old friends and I are teleported to what looks to be like a city. The stench of death is thick in the air, smoke and embers sting the nostrils. I take a look around and see a boy crying over a body. I look to the rampart above and see a wizard and soldiers valiantly defending the city, you can see the fear in their eyes. However the authorities appear and waste no time declaring me as a spy.. I draw my sword in haste to defend myself.

  • 1 retarded person dislikes this song ... burn him!

  • @BalduranCZ a misclick obviously

or maybe yet another scheme by Sarevok to start a war

  • @IsilionNELE

    hehe yeah maybe :D

  • @BalduranCZ Better: Lock him for an eternity in a room with Jan Janssen. To ho naučí :)

  • @BalduranCZ

he obviously missed the like button

  • Comment removed

  • @BalduranCZ lol

  • Are you sure this is amkethran theme? I thought this is Melissan's theme.

  • VICONIA!!!!!

  • Perfect song for "...and so ends the tale of the Bhaalspawn". Truly magnificient. Now if you excuse me, I need to cry. Nostalgy man!

  • Sounds like something out of Basil Poledouris' score for Conan the Barbarian. Truly fantastic song.

  • I remember that moment when I finished the game for the first time. Reading the epilogues of my party members and listening to this track made me cry like a child. There was no other game ever after that gave me such a filling of sadness (because it's over) and fulfillment at the same time...

  • Oh god i think i melted :O Suddenly i felt all warm on my inside and started to laughcry becouse if it's awesomeness. Best rpg ever.

  • and by the way IS IT AVALIBLE ON I TUNES!??!?

  • man. . i have heard many town themes but this is without doubt in the top 5!

Bioware are Geniuses BG2 and NWN are the greatest things the have done!!

  • You know the developers but a lot of work into a video game when even the musical score is great.

  • @Bakazuraz There's quite a few games (and movies) that have excellent scores while the game or movie itself is terrible.

  • The best game that ever.

  • I was under the impression that this track was Melissan's theme, not Saradush's.

If I'm wrong, I'll have some renaming to do

  • @Metallisika You're right. It is not the Saradush theme, but it plays when you meet melissan in Saradush... so it's easy for people to get confused.

  • is that a cough at the end?

  • One of the most magnificent soundtracks I've ever heard :).

  • I never managed to get a copy of throne of bhaal... :(

  • i think Bioware's selling it from their webshop

  • is there a longer version of this ?

oh and bg is the best .

  • just listened to the conan song... its different, and the melody is not the same at all... its only in the same key which leads you to believe the melodies are simmilar... but the use of trumpets gives the conan song a rather "heroic" feeling whilst this song is more of an epic but sad arangement.

  • exactly! you are exactly expressed feelings from this songs:)

  • this music came up at the end of TOB while the party members remaining biographies were displayed

  • I'm pretty sure this isn't the Saradush music though, isn't it the romance music?

  • it seems to be Melissan's theme

  • No it's the music that plays in Saradush.

  • this is the theme that comes up after you defeat yaga shura

  • wow :D

  • This song makes me cry... <3

    *bows*

  • I'm not 100% sure on this, but I believe this game was there first. Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm going to look it up on Wiki now, too ;)

  • Heh, nevermind... Have a nice day and all *slowly moves away in shame*

  • Which track on the Conan Soundtrack?

  • The Atlantean Sword.

At 1:00 the melody is almost identical for a while. It also has a very similar style.

  • Rip off ? Are you talking about the flute part ? Don't be silly, this style hase been used in NUMEROUS soundtracks or songs ! Inon Zur made a good job with BG2 soundtrack !

  • Man, I remember hearing this whilst reading the party member epilogues. It was so fucking sad, it said that almost all of my companions went down swinging alone & outnumbered, in a blaze of glory.

There were manly tears I tell you, manly tears.

  • fuck yes! it reminds me of a drizzt quote - "and so our tale ends bruenor battlehammer - in battle, as it should!"

    masterpiece!

  • your party members all die? please tell me more, i have played baldurs gates games many times but never come across this? Besides no one could kill korgan, or edwin

  • Unless you are a crappy player that sucks at this game :-D

Jokes aside, no they don't die. Though some of them will get killed after the end of game. It's written in the epilogues: Keldorn (dies on the battlefield, his god Torm descended and took Keldorn with him) and Viconia (if you romance her, she will get poisoned by a Lloth worshipper, kinda sad ending).

  • I agree, there are no such games these days that could fill heart with so many emotions... so many memories with this game....

  • @aweha you should listen to Respighi Pines of the Janiculum

  • This is one of the best themes I've ever heard for a computer game. Its movie quality.

  • BG overall had very good soundtracks. Lol, dude I am not stalker but whatever I go I just happen to see your comment. Just had to made comment about it lol! I guess we share similiar interests :p

  • anyone knows how to downlaod this soundtrack for my video?

  • This... when the epilogues kicks in and the music starts playing... its epic.. :)

Need more games like this ! Hell yeah !

  • Baldur's Gate is one of the best game ever!

  • aaah I will never stop loving the baldur's gate saga :) the story is as brilliant as the music and gameplay! I love my grandfather for buying me this game when I was "little" (he thought it actually was a regular adventure-game ;] )

  • simply: WOAW!

  • The music, mainly this track, is what made the final stage of Baldur's Gate such a final, epic ending.

May they never try to continue the brilliant story that Throne of Bhaal finished. Let it remain the best game-story ever.

  • Yeah, its a good one. It also plays during the end when each character you had it your party gets their own epilogue. I thought this music fit Keldorn's epilogue the most though, considering how his story concluded. Plus he was such a cool character ;)

  • I had exactly the same impression during the epilogue - fits Keldorn perfectly. On the other hand, Jan should have gotten his own theme as well ;)

  • I thought it was the best for Cernd personally. His ending was so... sad.

  • I felt the same with all the original characters that you first met in BG1 (Imoen, Jaheira etc..) especially Minsc who more or less became a legend amongst his own countrymen because you the Bhaalspawn saga.

  • "And what about Boo ? Well, what is Minsc without Boo ? The two would never be separated, and some say they are together still, up amongst the stars where hamsters are giants and men become legends"

What is weird, the music also made Minsc's (quite funny) epilogue epic too :)

  • One of the most beautiful songs I´ve ever heard...

  • But this is not Saradush music. It starts playing each time Melissan appears.

  • awesome song, awesome game. No doubt. They sadly dont make today RPGs of such class anymore. Reminds me as song always somewhat to Conan the Barbarian. Though another great song, when you enter a Temple, either of Clyric, Lathander or Helm. Those Temples have great themes as well!

  • you're so right. let's hope bioware nails it again with dragon age.

  • @CrniWuk how true you are, but then perhaps it was just so good that it could not be equaled again, a living story :) I like Dragon Age 1, it wasn't Baldurs gate 2 but it was good. DA:2 I shall reserve my opinion on!

  • yeah this song have a strong feeling

  • The best theme music from BG 2

  • In my opinion, the most beautiful/sad musical score made.

  • so beautyfull :]

  • I love this song! It makes me cry...

  • @Eaderbreca Me too! Just imagining the party walking through some wilderness... but by this point, in Throne of Bhaal, our characters have been through so much; now wiser and strong. Truly moving music for the final moments of a long, epic journey.
