Your set is cool but dude your high Tom doesn't fit in with the other toms you hav to tune it lower to sound in sync but the rest is pretty awesome and I like the pitch black ride there that look cool and I wanna get 1 now XD
ZBTs ring A LOT. but zildjian makes cymbal tabs or 'z' tabs or something like that to control the excess ring and overtones. kinda like moon gel for cymbals
work on you stick holding when doing rolls around the kit. buzz rolls and double stokes are good on the snare but not so great on the toms. other than that good kit and good playing :)
@TripleOGStatuz thanks bro; yea that was a long time ago, I have since-then improved on my technique, dynamic, and skill. I cant wait to record some covers, i have some Avenged Sevenfold, Muse, and Theory of a Deadman that I'd like to showcase
hey can you give me a list of exactly what heads you put on your drums
i have the same kit i just bought it about 4 months ago just got started drumming but i need new heads especially my bass head i ripped it of kickking too hard xD but yea man can you let me know what you got cus it sounds pretty good :D
@JUNIORHIN sure thing man-all Evans: Batter sides: - 22" x 18" kick drum: EMAD2 Clear -10" x 8" tom: EC2 coated -12" x 9" tom: EC2 coated -16" x 16" floor tom: EC2 coated -14" x 5-1/2" snare: EC2 Reverse Dot Reso sides: - 22" x 18" kick drum: EQ3 Black -10" x 8" tom: EC resonant -12" x 9" tom: EC resonant -16" x 16" floor tom: EC resonant -14" x 5-1/2" snare: Hazy 300 yea man, all the set needs is a new pair of shoes and it'll sound amazing; all the heads make the difference- it blew my mind
@commanderbob6969 well even if i had played with any remo heads, i probly still wouldnt be able to answer. they'd give off a different sound, yeah. but like i always say- its personal preference man
That's good man, i thought maybe you were just one of those guys with a set that looks nice and can only play the same beats over and over again. I recommend getting lessons, they really do speed up learning
@MrBlj8977 yeah i've considered, but its pretty difficult to fit scheduled lessons into a full time job in the summer and then going to school as well; i just play whenever I can pretty much
@RenegadeSquirrels: Finally, SOMEone commented on that. Thank you, fellow dream theater fan. and yes, that's my favorite part of the song too, that's why i put it at that time:D Thank you
It's kinda ridiculous tho... i have 9 hours of it on my mp3 lol. Not including LQT.
/addict
Idk. I like octavarium, but it's not my favorite album... either six degrees of inner turbulence or scenes from a memory takes that spot. Eh. Fuck it i like all of dream theater. Even the old-ass Awake album... except New Millenium. Ew upon ew upon ew.
@RenegadeSquirrels lol. well, yes- dream theater is awesome, i really do want to see them in concert. Mike portnoy (along with neil peart and the rev) is my idol. my favorite song(s) have to be [in no particular order]: the glass prison, octavarium, prophets of war, panick attack, In the precence of enemies pt. 2, and pull me under.
nice kit, definitely check out bob gatzen as far as tuning and such. i will admit your drums sound a little dead sounding but it could be the camera too. good luck on your playing!!
I have the same exact set with the same finish and i love it. I have four ZBT cymbals, and a sabian splash, though. While tuning, tune one peg, but then tune the one directly opposite. Doing this will help spread tension evenly right off the bat. Hope this helps.
I would suggest not using tone rings at all, especially since you already are using not only EC on the top, but also on the bottom, as well as the fact they are coated. I would try to tune the bottom head a little higher than the bottom. I like a resonant sound, though.
@absolis77 No, you do not have to change the bottom heads to change the tops - and vica versa - but it is reccomended. also, when you buy "heads", you are buying a single head i.e. a top head, and thats what will come in the box, a top head. They cost about 15 bucks each and for the bass about 35 each
@absolis77 thats pretty much a side effect of any resonance given off from the drum. unless im missing something, i dont think that there's much that anyone can do about that (mine does it too) I would suggest, however, to find a video on youtube on how to tune your snare and bass drum-maybe that might help a bit
@iMaDrummer420 yup it sure is. and i love it:) with new heads and a bit of tuning you can get some decent sound... AND i didnt break the bank with it either, do you have vid of your set? ill check your page out...
