5:03....how often do you see that in film today....and when you do see it its not as effective as it is here....a no budget seven minute long short film about a living dummy can entertain me more than most three hour flicks of today...thats saying something folks!!!
Excellent. Glad to refind it.Saw it when I was four and just remembered the door thing and the silverware thing. BTW, Stephen Wright was a camera assistant. Awesome.
Totally remember this!! I am 40.. I remember sneaking Down after My Parents went to sleep to watch The Shining at Midnight one Friday.. I was like 10.. snuck down after I heard snores out of Parents room.. Sat an inch from TV with hand on Off switch in case I heard Parents get out of Bed! Saw this short and The Shining. So scared and could'nt Tell anyone till school Monday..LOL..Thanks for that Memory. :-) Check Out My Videos of My Horror Comics for cool 1950 style HORROR.. B
Holy crap how the hell did you even find this?????? I remember watching this on Saturday Nightmares. In fact, I remember watching Saturday Nightmares all the time, but the only specific thing I remember is this because it scared the hell out of me. I'm honestly still scared of dummys because of this movie! I even told my wife about it, and she didn't believe me. Now she's gonna have to watch it too!
Just watched this 10 thirty in the morning and was stil shiting my self with my dressing down pulled over my head and peeking a looked every 5seconds. LMAO, this was so creepyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! i like fanny btw.
I recently made a short horror film and I wish I'd watched this first, for inspiration/ideas. That part where the doll is peeking under the door gave me the creeps. Its simple, but it works.
that peeking under the door scene was pretty clever i admit, but really, it's her fault. you know you are never supposed to take a curtain shower in an 80's horror film. nothing good every comes from it. LOL
I remember watching this film when I was a child with my mother...I credit her for desensitizing me to bad horror films. I still have visions of that dummy peaking under the door and his little dummy feet walking down the hallway. Thanks for posting this!!!
I remember watching this is the 80s and being absolutely horrified! I was only 6, but, over 25 years later, I can't forget about that knife in the back of the knee!
you know that this is all fake, and in reality, you know there is a guy behind the wall and next to the bed propping the dolll up to make it look like he is alive and peering over. Still, with that music and atmosphere, you can help but be creeped out! I remember this from when I was a kid and it is still creepy to me today!
I'm another who remembers this short from so many years ago. Definitely the simplicity and the eerie music are still just as effective! Just watched it again for the 50th time in my life and I still got the chills!
Simplicity is a powerful tool in horror. Look at Halloween, theres a barely a plot, with a tiny budget but extremely effective. Same applies here. The fact theres no explanation to it makes it more tense, as once one develops a back story, it can get too silly and less beliavable making it less scary. Halloween and this seem very real.
Oh and outstanding music, perfect for a horror film. Just perfect.
wow epic short story i remember this from when i was a kid im 31 now and this still creeps me out and it goes to show that you don't need all these special effects and cgi to scare people ..... now days its so hard to scare anyone but using techniques like this will always work.... just something about dolls and puppets that have always gave me chills and most people would agree
The music is, absolutely, amazing and the howling wind in the backround is perfect. It really adds to the tension and suspense of the short. It's brilliance is in it's simplicity. This shows you don't need special effects to make a great, scary film.
I, also, always thought the chick in this short had a great pair of legs, and that hasn't changed lol.
I love reading these comments because I'm right there with everybody. I remember seeing this on The USA Network back in the 80's, after movies on Saturday Nightmares or Commander USA.
The 80's were such a glorious time for horror films, shows, and shorts. I miss these days in the worst way
Seeing this again brings back great memories. This scared the shit out of mwe when I first saw it, but then I couldn't wait to see it again
I always hoped the movies on USA finished early so this would play
@GialloHorror I too remember the glory days of when USA Network ruled with programming including USA UP ALL NIGHT! I loved watching Commander USA! He was awesome! I am trying to get USA UP ALL NIGHT back on USA Network once again! Google the website that I created called usaupallnight and check it out! Trust me you will love it guy!
fucking classic, i was amazed when i found it cause i was not really looking for it, there has been a few times that i looked for it and came up empty handed. i actually watched the usa saturday nightmares intro right before this, im 30 years old now, this brought back memories from like 20 years ago.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you for posting this! I remember this as a kid watching this on Saturday nites. I've been looking for this. They don't make them like they use to.
i cant belive my mother allowed me to watch this when i was little. the scariest part is when she looks under the door in the bedroom and he's looking right back at her. i'm still scared to this day of dummies.
I remember this, and it scared the living crap outta me!! I mean, you've got Magic, but it's the whole "crazy ventriloquist THINKS his dummy is alive" thing. THIS? This evil little bastard will KILL YOUR ASS!! lol
Thanks so much for finding this and posting it!! Been looking for it for a long time.
I've been looking for this movie for years man. I forgot the name but this thing scared the living shit out of me when I was a kid. I remember they used to play it on t.v. sometimes during commercials. Man the "80's were sick sometimes.
