gotta love these old chevettes i got myself a 1978 great little car but your right nobody ever wants to own one lol i didnt at first till i bought it i hate the buzzer as well but the one in mine is nowhere near as loud as yours
Oh PLEASE don't cut it up !!!! I always loved that vintage of chevette with the small tail lights and the round headlights and old-style grille......its the same age as ME !!!! Always wanted one to do a 350 conversion myself.....never got one though.....
I have to say I really enjoyed your story. As a former Chevette owner( I've owned 3 in a 10 year period) I love these cars and I sure do have a few stories of my own to tell. Contrary to Chevettes being considered a joke in the automotive world, I'd still rather own one than anything else, point blank.
I love it when people tell stories about their cars. This ones really cool though!
although I can't help but agree with wheel456, I like the look of these cars stock. But thats just my personall opinion, its your car. Do what you want with it, lol
just certain signature things about the vehicle a definite scratch in the side, hood just slightly faded from the body from a bad repaint, rebuilt axle, small crack in the tail light ect
yeah like I said in an earlier post Im not sure what Im gonna do with it yet but my sister does need a car when she gets her license this year and Im thinking it would make an excellent high school car lol
I learned to drive in my sisters 1980 Chevette (also yellow). I got pulled over one time for speeding in it... The cop didn't believe that a Chevette could have broken the speed limit...
I never attempted overtaking another vehicle on the rural highway unless the road in the opposite direction was completely clear. Even when the road was completely clear I was always afraid...
same here man! i have a feeling that ill be getting a ton more free trucks soon too. i usually find truck sitting in peoples yards that they don't even want. i just found 2 Chevy K5 blazers, a K10, C20, and a nice 1978 Ford F150, F100, and a few others. i'm stopping by those houses tomorrow to ask if they would give them to me.
Im thinking its a 77 chevette that I got for free lol but Im not certain what for sure I will do with it just yet because my sister gets her license very soon and needs a good first car
Oh yeah, and about my name, I was going to make a name, I looked out the window, and my uncle had the hood up on his Bronco, and I said FordsSuck, and that was not available, and I said FordsSuck95, and that is the original name, and the year I was born. I don't really hate Fords, I really like every kind of car, I did hate Fords but I don't anymore, they are all good to me
I actually just put in some lucas last week... I really like the stuff for engines... not so keen on the transmission blend though... had a really bad experience once
put it in a high mileage tranny after I replaced an input seal and it stopped shifting... might not have been the lucas but I still havent used it since... long story that Ill have to tell when I start work on the bronco
Great story! For sure it'll start. I have an '82 T1000 that was passed down to me last year, and has been in the family since 1992. It's not on the road right now, but there are some future plans for it, I just need the time and money to get the brakes fixed and a hose changed. 86,000km's original.
a mate of mine ad a chevette bak in skool tat he put a 305 in lol we called it te demon caue it looked like crap but was te fastest car at skool it went like a cut cat
ahh that is sweet... Ive got a high horse 350 in the shed and we toyed with the idea of dropping that in but I decided I wanted to go for some power and mileage hence the 2.8L v-6
Chevette is a good car

That's a pretty rich history. I wish I could say that for my dad's 85 Ranger he use to have. Unfortunately I did not get it, anyways that's amazing.

oh, by the way, keep engine original, 38 mpg is awesum, clean it up, give it a cool paint job.
why would u want to put bigger engine in and less mileage. if u want more power, buy a cheap bigger car instead of defacing the 77 chevette
