@OhJaniceWhyOhWhy NO Barry isn't gay, people automatically assume someone must be gay if they are not married or in a relationship. I'm not married, I don't have a man in my life and someone assumed that I was a lesbian because of that. Barry keeps his private life just that....Private, so people think he must be gay. Have you seen the way he looks at some women? I promise that I'm not having a go or being deliberately rude, just giving you my personal opinion.
@77Usmcvet. real men wear pink! LOL , JUST KIDDING ! I have always thought him to be so genuine. Just a man that truly loved making music. Iwas that your experience working with him?
Since high school I have always liked his music, and 24 years ago got the privilege of meeting him and working for and with him. But Geez what's up with the pinkish clothes?!!
Barry you speak the words so many of us can't! You are so very special and talented! I love you with all my heart for so many memories in your songs you've given me! ♥
I had a co-worker who called BarryM an 'oatmeal entertainer'. Obviously, this guy had poor taste. I think he's one of the greatest singer/songwriters of all time. Many of his songs strike a chord with many of us who have been in love at any time in our lives.
@betterinformed Barry does sing with great emotion but I tend to think that he is wiping away perspiration rather than a tear. OK what do you mean by his ''so called love life''?
Barry's private life has nothing to do with us in any way, he deserves to keep it that way........PRIVATE.
BARRY MANILOW! The greatest singer of the past 60 years or more! Beautiful ballads decade after decade! Barry loves to create and perform great music! It's no wonder that he has sold 85-90 million albums worldwide!
I find his music extraordinary! Sinatra, even lavished praise on Barry decades ago, when he said: "He's Next," meaning of course that Barry would be the next greatest singer in our lifetimes! Barry Manilow is indeed great!
I was at that concert and had it on a caset player and i found a vhs verison on line ..But what i want to say that night i was stood up by the girl i was seeing and i sat there a lone in the c section of the civic arena ..I wrote down some words how i felt and sent them to steleto and i got a call from them and i never repleyed ..Just a few weeks ago i sent a message to them and if you would hear the words to what a wrote and sang ..i know it would be a hit for him 30 years Later ,,,
Out of all of The Rock n Roll, Country and every other concert I attended Barrys' concert I attended in Jax in 1981 was the best...as a performer it was if he was personally touching and reaching out to every member of the audience...
Does anybody know if there is a DVD available of this show? I have the Barry in Britain DVD from this tour and it is great, but he seems really sad during the Royal Albert Hall Performance...during this show in Pittsburgh, on everything I've seen, he seems to be having a really great time and connects so well with the audience--an all around fabulous performance. I know it was a Showtime special, but I can't find anything out there as far as video/DVD.
@cswles1 Sorry but so far Pittsburgh isn't avaiable on DVD. There is however a VHS version but as it is so old it's really hard to find, try eBay as I did see one on there but it sold for a lot of money!
@scalaaz Barry IS singing, there may not be the usual huge orchestral finish but a lot of people appreciate having just Barry and his piano. Barry Manilow is just amazing.
how young and dashing he looked then..............age creeps up to everyone.........everyone except the God of Youth perhaps.
I got to know about him from a classmate back in 80 or 81 and the first songs that impressed me were Can't smile wo you and Mandy. Since then he became one of my fav singers.....
GENIUS

I had this whole concert on VHS, but misplaced it sometime ago. I have seen it many times, and seeing your video here brought back some memories.
This song and many others from that particular concert got me through some rough times back then.
