how much money you think ud have to sink into a truck to get another 250-359 horsepwoer on it ??? best bang for the buck, im just a kid flippin burgers, im pickin up a 1981 gmc half ton shrotbox and im guna do the 350, what should i do for power ??
Put a blower on it. Supercharger that is for all you motorhead slang hatin people. It is the best thing you can do for horsepower. The worst for your wallet. If u do, the motor needs port and polished, Dish style pistons, forged and hardened crank, bigger cam, roller lifters and rockers, bigger head ports, etc. I could go on for a while listing all the things to get maximum ponies out of a blower, the main thing is the bearings and oil viscosity along with the pistons.
lol if your flippin burgers get something more economical ..you will thank yourself in the long run ..more money for college, girlfriend ..etc. the 350 as it is is already a gas guzzler adding much of anything to it and you will be spending your entire weeks pay just getting to work and back.
If you want something with power while flipping burgers, I'd say get something lighter and fix it up. Maybe a Vega or an inline 6 Mustang. It'd be easier on gas and more unique than a 350 pickup. Just my 2 cents (with inflation 21).
First, this is a diesel. Second, we have tubes on the exhaust to expel the fumes outside, so you wouldn't see it from this angle. But there wasn't as much smoke as you might think. Black smoke is wasted fuel and energy. The next step to cleaning it up even more would be with nitrous as Banks is doing with their Project Sidewinder Duramax. That produces about 1000 hp and has almost no smoke whatsoever. Pretty cool stuff!
The exhaust is located right where it normally is... we just have a hose attached to the exhaust tip when we are making a dyno run so we don't get smoked out from all the exhaust fumes.
dude, pretty awesome ride, man. What year is the Duramax engine off of, a 2001 or newer truck? And the red color really shows that truck off. Thank you for posting it.
I like the idea of diesel tuning, but most get diesels for better fuel economy, u tune them up and the economy may be reduced to less than a petrol engine.
Some say u get better MPG after certain tuning packages, but not if u use the extra power.
hard to justify owning a diesel for fuel economy when it costs 40-60 cents more/gallon. and repairs are astronomical when compared to a gas motor. Gotta love the snort outta a diesel though......thanks RUDOLF!!!
lets say you own a civic which gets 30 mpg at best. compare that to a jetta tdi which can get 50 mpg with no problems. 20 more miles per gallon on the same size tank saves more money then 50 cents more per gallon. not to mention you can simply run it on bio-d. and save yourself more money and also have no biproducts. as far as fixing them...if you maintain them right, there wont be many problems.
you are so fucking stupid if you think that came with a diesel... i bet that thing is fast as fuck... they are light i have a 94 gm stepside x-cab with the 350 (5.7) and it's fast
Not that gen. Stepside = 1500, you couldn't get diesel on the 1500 series, period, and at the time, the most diesel you could get was the old 6.5 clunker.
Correction. You COULD get a 1500 with a diesel from GM until 1998. However, you are right, the 6.5L is not to be confused with the mighty 6.6L! No relation between the two.
Nice! I love these usa diesels, I'm stuck with = $9-10 a gallon and 4 cylinder diesels!
Do u ever worry about getting so much torque that the chassis twists? I wonder what levels before such a thing happens? I've seen it happen on big rigs. cool!
Diesels are almost completely electronic but rely on more air and boost mainly. The more air you get to it's engine, the more powerful it becomes. You get larger injectors to increase fuel-rate and flow, and get a tuner or power module. Diesels show true reliability, in that while making HP you increase MPG at best. You increase it's life with certain products, get gobs of HP and torque out of it or just have fun while it's stock.
I'm buying the same truck off a friend for a nice price and its been overhauled...new grill new hood new engine and new transmission...lots done..nice truck man, sounds great!
Nice truck man! so nice exact same colour as the one im buying off a friend. he redid the hood and the bumper and such...also a new gril and new paint job...wow you have a nice truck man.
did you have to do anything to your frame to handle the power??

i dont believe thats a diesel..if its moddded to over 600 horse then it would pour out black smoke..

This one (from video) was installed in the truck by the owner. It originally had a gas engine in it.

yeah no racegas or spark plugs just oil change and boost !!!!

yeah better fuel economy when your not pulling anything...load a 10000 trailer on the back and see who win ;p

only thing is diesel engines are way less on repairs they take way more of a beating and just keep going strong
dpo33 4 years ago
actually diesels are cheaper and easier to repair. more horsepower, great fuel economy. We needs more diesels in this world

Don't forget that the original factory gas engine in this truck was replaced with the 6.6L Duramax.
