I haul oil in Northern Alberta, I know exactly how you feel. Most of the drivers get paid a percentage of the amount the load is worth, so the faster they go, the more loads they haul, the more money they make. The speed limit on most roads we work on is 60mph, but most of the guys out here don't have a governor on their trucks, so they can reach speeds around 90mph, and even higher going downhill with 90,000lbs of crude on your ass. I'm 100% with you on this, if you're hauling anything dangero
@richter85 - i'm pretty sure they are aware of it considering the view counter and all the oil field guys on youtube browsing around. the trailer numbers can be seen by pausing the video. there's so much that can go wrong up here even if we all play it safe, so the rest of us just hate to see immature behavior like this. thanks for stopping by :)
I don’t see any placards, we don’t know if his truck was loaded or MT. Although the way it moves looks either light or MT. Most speed limits in N Dakota are 65-75mph. He had plenty of room, not much traffic around; he gave you plenty of room before moving over. I know I’m going to be flamed but I don’t see much a problem. I would need to see more than this small clip. You should come to Calif. where it’s 55, then I would have a problem if you were 65 and he passed.
@wolf9walker -thanks for your comment, i won't allow anyone to flame you because your comments are respectable. your make good points & they are well taken. what it comes down to is whether or not it's worth the risk. drivers that do this tend to do so all the time, and eventually it will lead to an incident, especially with oil field traffic vehicles that often come out of nowhere. we see the incidents after the fact with the emergency vehicle lights flashing. it's just not worth it....
I brought my truck to North dakota last year and stayed for 10 months and i watched time and time again guys like this passing you. doesnt matter what they are hauling they are dicks. just wait till the weather changes you will pass him while he is either broke down from beating his truck on the dirt road or sitting in a ditch. Then all you have to do is drive by and wave!

You should try to get anything identifiable on that truck, plates/company/tank no. and report to this employer.
