The event wasn't "dramatic" to me. You had a couple of rude passengers and a steward trying to draw attention to themselves. It could happen to anybody. Apparently it succeeded. Sensationalism in the media has always existed, but reality TV is past the point of boredom as far as I'm concerned. Frankly, I'd like to stand in for steward/ co-pilot. I think I could do an ILS approach if need be. Actually, I'd like to try a crosswind landing as long as it isn't too much wind ;-(
When is JetBlue coming to Atlantic City N.J. (ACY)? It diverts there all the time. ACY has great runways/ILS/an FBO that has nothing to do all day and only Spirit Airlines for competition (they can't hold a candle to JetBlue). There's a brand new 6 story parking garage that no one uses AND a $92million terminal being built! Taxiways are being enlarged and new terminals being built, a brand new parking garage.....And no one to use all this!!!!! There's also AirBus maintenance for the RONs.
JetBlue is the best airline, Delta and american suck ass big time, donot fly with them. Jetblue have award winning services crewbember. frer live TV etc. plus good price
By your own account you are spending 20-30 million on damage control when you could have spent a tenth of that by taking care of your passengers in the first place. No amount of arse kissing is going to correct that sir.
One thing people forget, none of the other airlines at JFK are based at JFK. So since your biggest hub is at the airport with bad whether, it is expected that your going to get hit harder then other airlines in a storm like that. People, give them a break.
Erm.. Several US Airlines operate hubs out of JFK international. Even some that only keep focus city operations operate more flights than jetBlue. Delta's hub at JFK is one of the largest in the United States. American also operate many flights out of JFK
I still love jetBlue, I have flown your airline for six years now on average of three or four times a year, nobody offers great service, like you guys do. Keep up the good work, I believe that the February 14th "incident" was just a bunch of epithets thrown around. Your guys made a safe choice to keep the passengers on the ground, I would never fly any other airline!
It's awesome that you, David, go in front of the camera so much and let us know what's happening. Most CEOs would just write an article online or something, but you make a great effort to update us, thanks! In response to nyOPERAguy about the movies, I believe they have been working hard to get better movies on flights and have come a long way already.
jetBlue still an innovator and great communicator. Honest communication is apreciated even when things haven't always been smooth, we always make the airline our choice for flying now... Other airlines charge more and their expectations are easily met because you know the service will not be there. At least jetBlue rebounds and can commit to make a difference. Kudos to you David and your team.
From a PR standpoint, these video updates are an intelligent move. Your PR/mktg staffers who developed these spots should be acknowledged. Smart move. Other companies should be taking note. Hopefully, PR and advertising texts are adding these spots in their web-based curricula.
Since you have Live TV at every leather seat in the Aircraft and large flat screens TVs thought out the terminals and gates. Why not use this resource and start a jetBlue channel that would relay update date information to customers and crew during weather events via jetBlue's own TV Channel. During normal operations sell advertising and show personal interviews allowing families to see themselves when they are one the actual aircraft.
Love Jet Blue! flying you guys next week as a matter of fact. As far as the storm thing, EVERY AIRLINE cancelled flights. It bugs me that they always show one of your planes on the news when they talk abotu delays. I guess you guys are just the temporary media target. DOnt sweat it! One suggestion, change your movie list more often. I fly you guys a lot and it would be great if there were different movies on while flying out then when flying back.
As a long time drinker of the Blue Juice, I love that you Mr.Neeleman post videos keeping us updated on the status of jetBlue. I wish you guys alot of future sucess with JFK as a hub... It sure is tough here in NY durring the winter! jetBlue is the only airline I know that is true to its initial motive, you guys are the airline for the passenger and I as a frequent traveler really appreciate the update!
JetBlue will always be my favorite airline!

I work for JB, it is one of the worst company. The employees are highly underpaid and overworked.

I think you guys need to give a new apology to the DailyKos community. Shame on you for siding with that slanderous liar.
