  • I thought video nasties were banned in the 80's. How on earth did this one slip past the censor's scrutiny?

  • I LOVE THIS

  • ha ha ha what a load of garbage ha ha

    the "vocalist" is just hilarious

  • @unamarr1 He looks like one of the Scousers from the Harry Enfield Show

  • ha ha ha what a load of garbage ha ha

  • I didn't realise that the "Scullion" morphed into this. I remember being blown away by the power and beauty of their 1st album.. Educo, Living Blind, John the Baptist, Domes, etc.

  • They look terrible in this clip, but they were a fantastic band, and Sonny is an underrated genius.

  • love this song......remember a good night in Mother Redcaps....back in the day....

  • OMG! greg boland gave me a lift home today and i called him lazy!

  • Go on Greg (Guitar) ya legend

  • Sonny Condell with a moustache Marty Whelan would be proud of.... the 7" version of this song is quite good.

  • Philip King and Greg Boland with the 'taches - Sonny's bare-faced.

  • And for the detractors - c'mon we only had 2 tv stations and Miami Vice was BIG...

  • Poor old Philip King may be a bit embarrassed by watching it. But I had totally forgotton this song and after 23 years remember all the words. Scary.

  • Christ, this is actually making me nostalgic for the last depression!

  • Self-Aid was a weird concept wasn't it? Put on a big concert...employers watch it and think "ah sure look at them lads singin' away there on the TV...you know what I'll do...I'll give someone a job in my factory"....I don't think it worked! There was some reasonably good music on the day though...and a lot of shite.....Scullion were OK....even if they did look like a shower of arseholes!!

  • That's Mary Black on backing vocals and the other woman is Flor McSweeney (I think) who was in Moving Hearts at one stage.

  • i love this band and everything about them.

This was the 80's lads if you don't remember everything was cheesy and yadda yadda back then.

    stop stating the obvious

  • Had that stupid oaf Philip King allowed the band to do the gig without his 'get up the yard' antics it would have been approaching passable....what a clown! He can make a good doco, but that's about it! Professor craphead!

  • I can't wait for SELF-AID II now that we're officially in recession, though I think it will be rebranded DEATH-AID to support voluntary euthanasia.

  • I like that comment,fair play,but let's be positive,nice tune back then,eoghan o neill brill on bass,could jog a bit alright,memorable year

  • I don't know what's funnier, the video or some of the comments!

  • No wonder everyone emigrated back then with this sh**e for music.

  • @the jamlover. That was Eoghan and you should look up his current band-The Ceili Bandits-They are a great group based down around Doolin

  • great song and a great band but not so impressed with their 'moves'. very 80s and a bit embarrassing.but the 'fat clown' bass player-surely that is the brilliant eoghan o'neill who played with moving hearts? a mighty player but a crap dancer lol

  • i never knew tommy cannon sang in a band

  • No disrespect but I can't believe this is the same Scullion of "Educo" and "down in the city". Sorry guys that is awful.

  • The Dick Spring and Biffo band.

  • apart from the bass player, being a total fat clown , i actually liked them,, is it me or does the singer , look a little like professor know it all ???

  • LOved Scullion in the day the mount merrion inn on thurs nights lisdoon in july.

Phillip king used teach a mate in greenhills comp irish.

Eoin is also a brill bazouki player.

Wonder if wane king is untalented relation of phil

  • Great song from a great bunch of musicians, although I'm sure the bass player must cringe a little bit when he loks at it. Flo McSweeney fairly looked the part.

  • Greg boland is a class musician and has worked with many bands beefore and after scullion days

  • Yes I've beem looking up some of his and Sonny's stuff on the web. Never saw them live myself as I live up Nord and indeed the only bit of their music I've ever seen or heard is the Self Aid stuff.Still it was enough to make me realise what a brilliant sound they make.

  • yes jerome ive been listening to them and seen them live many times even down at the old Lisdoonvarna festivals.Try getting the Balance and Control album its excellent

  • Singer is obviously off his tits on something. Wouldn't you love to just beat that fat bastard bass player to death with his own guitar. What a shite song by a shower of cunts !

  • wayneking by name and . . . well, you know the rest

  • and by the way, that is eoghan o'neill, who is a fucking legend, on bass.

  • hey wayne, do you know the five lamps?

  • I bet you have no-one.

  • so true wayne. singer completely fucked out of his mind and pig ugly female backing singers who cant hold a note. indeed a shower of cunts.

  • reminds me of great days in the baggot inn

  • Thanks for sharing. Love the song, as for those outfits....

  • oh yes, Sonny Condell was the man. Down in the City was da bomb.

  • Is this Sonny Condell`s band?
