I agree with you 110% it looks cheap, the chest reminds me much of Energon Prime, another piece of shit figure if you ask me, but I love your reviews regardless of the fgure you show.
Great vid. This one is definitely a missed opportunity. If they would have reissued just the cab part of the G2 Laser Prime that would have blown this one out of the water.
i agree this figure does look like you would get it with a mcdonalds happy meal and as for the dotm figures they all look dull and uninspired, the only ones worth picking up are thundercracker, shockwave and sentinel...
@grayfire777 ... They could have done so much more with the current movie toys if they had had any iota of smarts about them, but no, instead they copped out. They are going to have to learn that when they have a major movie to promote, that in turn is supposed to promote their toys, its probably not a good idea to make that movie toy line suck to such a monumental degree.
A nice idea this one, not quite properly realised. It's something of a shame they didn't do something similar with the G2 "hero" Megatron to go with him (that is, if they bothered to do a better job). The sad thing is, you can see glimmers of potential greatness in this figure. With a little bit more effort, it could have been sublime. Instead, it's severly meh. Personally, I'm really hoping for some more Beast Wars figures in the up and coming resurrection of the Clasics/Universe...
@ExaggeratedElegy ... It's a shame that that last statement is right. I guess they are throwing all their weight behind the DOTM stuff, which so far, there has not been one single figure that I have seen hat make me want to buy it. The generations stuff was amazing and I fail to understand why they can't grasp hold of golden opportunities when they have them... And then keep hold of them. Hasbro seem determined to destroy the one decent franchise they have.
Its a shame RTS Prime ended up being quite dull. This figure could have been something a little spectacular, shame though that half the time it looks incredibly abysmal in robot mode. Better off just sticking with the G2 toy, at least its better than that. Also from the way it looks as well the plastic on the toy looks thin and lanky as well
@Skullgrin140 ... Agreed. The figure itself looks kinda fragile in places and I believe that to be the result of inferior plastic. Kinda makes you wonder how they released this in the same line as Lugnut whose plastic quality is of a much higher standard.
@TransformingToybox ... If they had paid attention to what they were doing, they could have made this a half decent Voyager class and charged £20 for it. Although I suspect it still would have been a bit of a let down compared to the likes of Lugnut.
@WolfKang1 Ok, put ANY other RTS stuff next to Lugnut and it will seem pathetic. Lugnut is THE one to get from RTS. All others in that line are just superfluous bits of nothing in comparison.
But you're right. More size and some attention to detail would greatly benefit this toy. I say, get rid of deep dive and the other voyager repaint (don't care enough about him to look up its name). Then channel the money from those two into a better Prime.
this is a mold i feel suffers from hasbro only making delux class generations/classics/ whatever they are calling them this week. would of been better if it was a voyager class then it would also be in scale with the classics prime
@Dice1138 ... I am interested to see what the 3rd party trailer is like for sure. I bet you anything you like it has superior plastic and paint scheme. Lol
The comic that comes with the Roddy/Cyclonus 2-pack is an absolute pile of bollocks, I'll be bringing it to AA, getting it signed and flogging it off ;P
If it was not for my OCD with Classic retail Deluxes. I would have skipped this figure.
I totally agree with you, not worth the money, glad I only paid $5 plus shipping for it.
It should be interesting to see how well (if at all) the "Not FansProject" upgrade kit, improves upon the issues this mold has. I'm also waiting on the inevitable RiD Scourge/Nemesis Prime repaint.
@NemesisPredaking ... I have heard a few people are expecting the Scourge repaint of this figure. I do hope that perhaps by that point, a few things on this figure would have been tweaked in order to make it stay in alt mode more successfully. I am also interested to see what the 3rd party add on kit will be like.
@Reuseable1 ... Yeh I know it is. Sadly, I won't be doing it with conventional cigarettes that often now, as I can't sodding well afford them anymore.
One of those cases where the United one fixes lots of the paint issues... at double the price. Meh. I kinda still prefer the old Laser Optimus Prime. Just need a sword for him.

@ncstatester ... I dare say it would have. I might need to buy another one of these just so I have one as it stands and one repainted.

It worked! The upload miracle!
I was tempted to get him...more than once, but every review turned me off. Cause it's a shame. It's something a lot of people would have loved

@GWolfV3 ... Indeed, hail for it is indeed a miracle! Believe me, I do not believe you are missing out on much by not having this figure.

@01GPGT ... I absolutely agree with you. Sadly, Hasbro seem to think they know best, which is not always a cause for celebration.

in my opinion the worst thing about this figure is the plastic. it just feels cheap.
Hopefully the add on kit with make me think I didn't waste my money

@WolfKang1 Given how Hasbro never fixed the issues with Animated Lockdown's hands. I wouldn't count on it.
Hopefully we end up with a more coherent paint scheme, in the worst case.
