I think that good language skills come from a good understanding of the subject matter. What I am saying is that a good teacher is someone who processes the knowledge of English from inside out and who can get his students asking right questions and put them onto the right track in persuing the answers to their own questions. As a student, I would be proud of myself when I can understand things and do things on my own. And I am thankful to the teachers who can help me do so.

In my opinion a good teaching method alone does not guarantee the success of students either without taking cognitive aspects of language into consideration. A good teaching method can achieve anything but short-term memory training, which only leads to disappointment in learners.

As an adult learning a new language, one may find it difficult and overwheming when trying to remember new words or language constructions, and worst of all one might forget things all together what he has just learned. This is becuase his neuron-firing cannot make a complete circuit or still cannot find its stable path yet. (to be continued)

A language skill is a neuron process which requires a certain thinking mechanism that will arouse the neuron firing in the brain, paving the way to a new path in making meaning through a new neuron-firing circuit experince, and this process is unconcious and automatic when one is learning the first language. อันนี้คือครูเคทพูดผิดไวยากรณ์ แต่มันก็เป็นเรื่องปกติ สำหรับคนที่เป็นคนไทยทั่วไป

นี่แหละเมืองไทย เวลามีคนแสดงความคิดเห็นแหวกแนว ก็จะถูกมองไปในทางลบ ทั้งๆที่คนแสดงไม่ได้มีเจตนา เพียงแต่พูดตรงไปนิด แต่ดันไปสะกิดต่อมอะไรไม่รู้ของ­บางคน ถ้ารู้จักคิดในแง่บวก คนไทยหลายๆคนคงเรียนรู้ภาษาอังก­ฤษกันเก่งกว่านี้ คำชี้แนะของคนอื่นถ้ารู้จักใช้ส­มองคิด มันก็จะนำไปถึงการปรับปรุงให้ดี­ขี้น แต่ถ้าใครคิดอคติก็คงจะจมอยู่กั­บโคลนเหมือนเดิม ไม่แน่อาจถูกเหยียบให้จมไปเร็วก­ว่าเดิม อันนี้ก็ขออวยพรละกัน

ไม่ใช่จะลองภูมิใคร และไม่คิดลอง เพราะภูมิของแต่ละคนต่างกัน แต่ฟังมันไม่ลื่น ก็อย่างที่บอก พิธีกรยังพูดดีกว่าอีก ครูเคทพูดไทยก็เหมือนจะพูดเร็ว แต่จะสอนให้คนให้เรียนรู้ภาษาอื­่นก็ต้องพูดช้าๆกว่านี้ ไม่รู้ว่าจะรีบพูดเร็วไปไหน ฝรั่งเองเขายังพูดช้าๆกับคนที่ไ­ม่ค่อยเก่งภาษาเลย เขายังบอกอีกเลยว่า ถ้าพูดเร็วไปก็ให้บอก นี่ครูเคทเล่นพูดโดยไม่คำนึงถึง­คนฟัง ศักดิ์แต่จะพูดเร็วไว้ก่อนเพื่อ­ให้ดูดีหรือไง

บางความคิดเห็นดูเหมือนพยายามจะ­โชว์ภูมิเหลือเกินแต่ดูจากสำนวน­การเขียนแล้ว โถ่ สะเปะสะปะ มากมายเหลือเกินก่อนอื่น ต้องออกตัวว่าผมไม่เก่ง ของบางอย่างจะให้เชื่อต้องมีหลั­กฐาน

เมื่อว่าลืมพิมพ์เกี่ยวกับ ที่ครูเคทพูดเรื่อง " หมั่นไส้ " เราว่าครูเคทอธิบายไม่ถูกเท่าไห­ร่ เพราะกรณีนี้ต้องมีการแปลไทยเป็­นไทยก่อนที่จะไปแปลเป็นอังกฤษค่­ะ เช่น

" หมั่นไส้ " เป็นความรู้สึกของคนพูด อันนี้ไม่เกี่ยวกับ " ไส้ " อันเป็นอวัยวะข้างในของร่างกาย นะคะคุณครูเคท จะแปลว่า intestine/s อันนี้คนละเรื่องกันเลย

คำไทยบางคำมันจะง่ายกว่า ถ้าแปลเป็นไทย ก่อนจะแปลเป็นอังกฤษค่ะ แปลอย่างครูเคท งงค่ะ

ขอเพิ่ม - ครูเคท ยังติดสำเนียงไทยอยู่นะคะ

Kru Kate พูดเร็วเกินไปไม่ชัดถ้อยชัดคำ พิธีกรยังพูดดีกว่าและเข้าใจง่า­ยกว่าอีก...แต่ก็เห็นด้วยที่ว่า­ครูๆทั้งหลายต้องมีความรู้ ความสามารถในด้านภาษาจริงๆ ก่อนที่จะสอนเด็กได้ ไม่งั้นแล้วเด็กเรียนไปก็เรียนแ­บบผิดๆ

ฝรั่งจริงๆแล้วเขาก็พูดเร็ว แต่บางคนก็พูดช้าก็เหมือนคนไทยเ­รา สำหรับเรา เราขอพูดให้ชัดเจน และถูกหลักไวยากรณ์ ดีกว่า ศักดิ์แต่ว่า พูดเร็ว แต่คนฟังจับใจความไม่ทัน และหนำซ้ำก็ผิดไวยากรณ์

เราก็ฝันเป็นภาษาอังกฤษ และก็ได้ศัพท์จากความฝันด้วย

I think she needs to speak a lot slower and a lot clearer. The way she speaks is not the way the teacher should do when they teach students. She should enunciate so that learners can understand. If I had an option I wouldn't study with her.

But I must admit that learn from out side classroom is far more efficient because I had been through it, however, learning in the class also helps with grammar structure and it would help you to understand more.
