Best fade away jump shooter is Reggie Miller. Jordan can't fuck with it. Reggie was high energy throughout the entire game always keep you busy guarding his ass. This is where Rip Hamilton got his game, but Reggie was consistent with those killer fade aways.

@utfanatic2000. I disagree. Reggie was one of the best jumper and fade away shooters that rivaled and in often better than Larry Bird. Jordan didn't really start utilizing the jumper until he lost his quick when he came back into the game after his first retirement. And he still wasn't the best with the fade away jumper. Center James Edwards was both known and had an excellent fade away during the 90's.

But in terms of fadeaway, with a man already on you, not coming off a screen, Jordan was better, due to his superior athleticism. He could move more quickly and get up higher than Reggie. Not saying other people were not good at the fade, but Jordan, due to him being as skilled at it as anyone, and MORE athletic, was the best.

My reasons are that MJ was at least as skilled at the fade as Reggie, and was a better athlete, so could get the shot off easier being guarded. If you're trying to compare Kobe and Jordan as far as their actual talent level goes, don't. Jordan's got the edge. Kobe and Jordan both have had stellar teams each time they have won a championship and its because they each have had a decent 'Big Man' with those championships. They don't need to be Shaq Diesel they just need to be big and able to make shots. They then become the anchor of the offense because you play off them. Kobe's first 3 championships just happen to have been with one of the greatest centers of all time, Shaq+Kobe > Jordan+Pippen but Jordan>Kobe

Best fade away jump shooter is Reggie Miller. Jordan can't fuck with it. Reggie was high energy throughout the entire game always keep you busy guarding his ass. This is where Rip Hamilton got his game, but Reggie was consistent with those killer fade aways.

Jordan didn't really start utilizing the jumper until he lost his quick when he came back into the game after his first retirement. And he still wasn't the best with the fade away jumper. Center James Edwards was both known and had an excellent fade away during the 90's.

But in terms of fadeaway, with a man already on you, not coming off a screen, Jordan was better, due to his superior athleticism. He could move more quickly and get up higher than Reggie. Not saying other people were not good at the fade, but Jordan, due to him being as skilled at it as anyone, and MORE athletic, was the best.

My reasons are that MJ was at least as skilled at the fade as Reggie, and was a better athlete, so could get the shot off easier being guarded. Reggie was great at moving without the ball and shooting coming off screens. Possibly the best pure jump shooter ever. But its silly to say his fade was on MJ's level.

He's the former NBA VP of Basketball Operations & NBA rules expert..go read where he says things like "..the NBA is trying to promote unimpeded movement for cutters" and how it's & I quote once again "more difficult under the new rules to guard the quick wing players who can handle the ball."

The only way Jordan and Kobe are equal is the fact that they are both the best player in the league in their prime. If you're trying to compare Kobe and Jordan as far as their actual talent level goes, don't. Jordan's got the edge. And Artest may be better on offense than Rodman, but I'll take Rodmans insane amount of rebounding and tenacity over Artest any day. Oh, and don't put Pau and Pippen in the same sentence lol. I see what you're saying. What I was trying to say more is when Rodman is on the team, there MUST be a player like Jordan who could fill empty spot of offence. For Kobe(who isn't even close to MJ), Artest(who can play both ends) should be a better teammate than rodman(who could only play D). Lakers is like an allstar team now. As a fan of Dwade, I really wished Odom joined the Heat but oh well..lol It's kinda sad that the top2 player(right after Lebron) has no supporting cast like Kobe u know.

Alright man I buy that, I think you've got it right. I think you could argue that overall talent, these lakers may have more than those bulls teams. MAYBE lol, that's such a tough arguement to make. When you've got a player like Mike, you really don't need to be amazing 1-12 to be a great team. The Lebron point u made is a good one too. He's not Michael, but he seems to be carrying the team much like Mike did at points in his career. If you gave Lebron a Pippen like player, they'd be unbeatable.

for all the people saying kobe is an imitator you can say that but then again its a stupid argument. you cant reinvent the game. a fadeaway is a fadeaway. whether mj kobe or adam morrison shoot it, its still a fadeaway. if u make the argument that kobe is imitating MJ then MJ imitated someone bc he did NOT invent the fadeaway. obviously im blaspheming right now but im a fan of both of em and a fan of the game and MJ is the best kobe is creapin up.

MJ decided to fully use the fadeaway due to the real physical pounding, handchecking and forearming from Detroit and NY.
KB just took it after MJ schooled him in the 98 ASG. He has no reason to really use a lower % shot then necessary given the lack of physical play anymore and easy flagrants .
I would say a even a hint of 'creapin' up is a scoring title and championship in the same year (MJ is only the 2nd player & non-center to do so).. and he did it 6 times. Or any year of his D stats

i like the fact that you gave a respectable answer and you didnt cuss me or anything like that, you just dont see that on youtube, i mean have you read some of these other comments lol. anyway this is true kobe does have weapons offensively but to me a huge part of the game is defense and rebounding. during the first threepeat chicago had horace grant who averaged around 9 rbpg and then dennis rodman who avg like 15. LAs best rebounder gasol only pulled in 9.6 a game. to be continued...

and we all know about MJ being on the all nba first team defense 10 times i believe, and pippen was a decent defender, am i sayin michaels supporting cast is better than kobes? i dont think so but the argument could be made as iv stated. scoring wise gasol owns walton 13 pg vs almost 19 pg. but waltons defense and rebounding numbers are better than gasols. people dont look at defense and rebounding like i do. to be continued again...

take the magic for instance dwight howard, led the league in rebounding and was defensive player of the year, the houston rockets when they went back to back had olajuwon one of the best rebounders and defenders of all time, you trace back all the championship teams and almost all of them if not all of them had a great rebounder and a couple of good defenders. very good arguments by you and i appreciate the respect and i in turn give you respect my friend.

ok so are u saying that this lakers team could beat any of jordans bulls teams. i mean if u think about it jordan and kobe POINTS WISE would probably equal each other out and then if gasol is truly better than pippen who was by far the second best player on that team then it seems as tho LA would beat any of those six championship teams. personally its a matchup i would love to see.

Jordan was a one man show??? Listen...i am the ultimate Jordan Fan, trust me. But Jordan was not a one man show. He may have been when he couldnt win a championship...but when Pippen was included...then the bulls were a great team! Less talk history, back in the 97 season pippen went out with an injury...during that time the BULLS WERE LOSING...Jordan was scoring but needed his support. When Pip came back, they were unstoppable. Jordan had his MVP caliber teammate also.

And now let me correct what i said. Do I think Kobe and Jordan are equal players?? If Jordan and Kobe were in the League at the same time in their prime would Kobe be better? ABSOULUTELY NOT. Jordan would destroy him. But, I said they were equal according to their time in the league..right now, Kobe plays that role as the unstoppable player, with sidekicks on his team to win rings. you're still missing the point. yea, the fadeaway existed of course, but Jordan perfected it like no one before. the dunk has been around forever too, but certain guys take it to a new level, Dr. J, MJ, carter, etc. jordan didn't invent the fadeaway, but he made it famous. to say kobe imitates MJ isn't an argument for anything, its just a fact. why wouldn't one want to imitate the best ?

Man dont compare Mj fadeaway to Kobe, KB is weak, a heavy body and a weak pulse, he always force his shot because of that. KB is like a frog always using his legs and elbows unlike MJ (THE GOD) strong pulse and knees are . MJ seats in the air when he fadeaway.. Hang time!!!!! MJ forever.
