Actually i think he's adorable, well trained and very loving to his baby sister... after all if you raise a pet as part of the family, they have a stronger bond with there people kind .... (not as a "dog" that most people just feed and leave outside) ... he could at any time get off the lounge and move if it was of all any bother to him....Great Job
That's a very passive dog- i don't see it lashing out at a child the way some people are saying..
but truely- by letting your child do this, it's teaching them ill-manners when it comes to animals and pets. The real danger is the girl doing this to another, not so tolerant dog and getting a bite.
I wouldn't be happy about my child being near any animal, I don't know anything about this dog in particular, but come on, if you don't give the dog the chance to bite the child you are 100% sure it wont, this woman has the child climbing all over the dog, and the posts it to the internet for the world to see......
In continuance to my previous message... Sre0505 there will always be haters that believe the most utterly stupid things and as you know they will tell you, your a bad parent for the most basic discipline on a child "such as saying no" is a bad thing...
Regardless of what the idiots think. I believe this video is adorable.
your all "ruh-tards"... .... Dogs are intelligent and if it was trained properly... like it obviously has, he's been socialized and trained not to react. These dogs are very well family dogs and have been for centuries... in fact in the 1800 very easily these dogs would be put down and not bred with others if there were a sign of aggression...( if you have a mix then there is a difference ). As far parenting... I'm sure all of you are saints and no one is a better parent... ok maybe i lied.
Sorry but as a parent and a Dog Owner you are a failure. Thats exactly the kind of behavior that end up in the news 'Kid bitten by dog' And the Parents are all shocked. How would you like for example if I kick in your stomach or poke into your eyes?
@johndagger You idiot... dogs brought up around children learn to be gentle and they learn to tolerate it. I was brought up from birth around my alsation. Do you have any idea how big those things get?! But he was the most gentle animal around me. Dogs that aren't used to being around young children are more likely to lash out or hurt a kid.
@johndagger get off your bloody high horse thats kid is being a kid, not deliberately taunting the dog you idiot. Also dogs aren't stupid , they can tell the difference ...........
@johndagger and you... WTF is your problem... your a failure as a dog owner... you should never fear your dog or let your dog believe that he is high in the alpha chain he/she really is... Your Dog is exactly that, yours. You are not theirs, you must control your dog and let them know that you are the Alpha and by no means do i mean by violence. Your dog must respect you and fully understand that your child is above them in the pecking order. Otherwise you are failing your dog and your family...
@johndagger A dog should be able to put up with this behavior from a human child if not then yes the owner failed but if he can the owner did a great job...however the kid should not be allowed to use him as a personal jungle gym
@Nemodog No they are not, but....they look a little alike..My black Briard is called a Bouvier every week (o what a nice looking Bouvier...) and that in a country were there are plenty of Bouviers (Holland). The Briard has smaller hipbones, longer and softer hair, walk with more grace and their skin is different. Allergic people can handle a Birard but not a Bouvier (most off the time). A Bouvier was used for cows and the Braird for sheep. The Briard is a centuries older dog
You're lucky the dog let's your child sit on him like that.
I think it's a very dangerous thing to let her be so rough with him. It's still a dog and she's still very young. What if someday she's too rough with the dog when youre not around and he'll be the one to correct her? The dog will mean it as a warning, but a child doesnt understand that.
You have to know how gentle these dogs are. They are the Nana's from Peter Pan and would never bite a child.. Well except our puppy Poops, who bites everything and everyone.. But she's a baby so it doesn't count..
I know the dog´s nature, we have had two briards ourself. Still have one today.
I grew up with a briard and yes I have to agree that they´re very tolarant, but it´s still an animal and you never ´really´ know what they´re thinking. Plus, the child should know too that he can´t just do that to a dog in general. Not all dogs are the same.
@garythewelshman007 Actually the nana dog was a newfoundland, not a briard. Briards were used as sheep dogs in France, and any dog will bite a child if it gets cross enough. And think about it this way, if you let your child do this with your dog who may be well behaved, it will do it with any dog, how would you feel if the kid went up to a pit bull and started poking it's eyes
what made you decide to cut his hair? have you noticed any issues with his sight at all? i've been thinking about cutting my briard's face hair so that he can see without the discomfort of a hair tie but was worried about possible health risks.
I have a 50%Briard 50% White German shepherd and he looks like giant at 7 month old I never knew Briards where that big? I just love him and he brings meaning to my life! Curt is the kindest and cute and I never really understood how close you become with this "character" who loves you whatever kind of person you are?
we dressed our briard bongo as our prince brother, with hat, cape and even socks and shoes when I was a kid, he was the best dog, sometimes I even dream of him.
this video is so prefect! I had a briard female, who I miss very much. One day I was baby sitting 8 month old twins, who crawled around her, one grabbed her face and one her tail and the twins yanked at the same time. My dog just looked at me like, ummm help please. Spencer reminds me of her so much. It was the prefect pick me up today because I was missing Missy very much. who was your breeder?
I have had 3 Briards in my life, no dog of mine has to be a toy for a child. The Video is terrible!

IF YOU THINK THIS IS A GOOD THING TO HAVE YOUR DOG TO PUT UP WITH YOUR BABY CHILD THEN I THINK YOU TWO ARE VERY STUPID PEOPLE.
I DON'T AGREE WITH PARENTS ALLOWING THEIR CHILDREN TO IN A WAY ABUSE ANIMALS PACIENCE IF YOU CAN CALL IT THAT.
YOU'RE A COMPLETE IDIOTS AND ANYONE ELSE WHO DOES LIKE YOU.

Get that child off the dog! Dogs are not dot climbing. Don't be surprised if the kid gets mauled one day due to negligent parenting.
