  • not impressed

  • This amp can do whatever the hell it wants.

  • Ugghhh 4:59-5:09. Yes please.

  • @jacktheripper300 i came...

  • Goddamit, im getting one of these!

  • Badass Review of a Badass amp by a Badass reviewer!

  • haha normaly i can't wait to be able to skip the add. i watched this one

  • god do i wish this thing had an fx loop

  • The liquid distortion setting at 5:00 ......... HOW THE HECK CAN THERE BE SUCH AMAZING SUSTAIN!!!!!!!! haha it awesome. great amp too

  • @dehellofakme It's a PRS single cut, i'm not sure what series do

  • what guitar is that?

  • this amp sounds amazing. Im looking since some time for a home amp. I have looked into all the lunchboxs, including the mini rectifier. I think this review represents the tone of the amp. I have listened this several times and the sounds is really warm. I think this will be my first tube amp ever. I hope to make the right decision.

  • @metalmachine00 I'd disagree. Tube amps are pretty spendy. The Dual Terror, and several other Orange tube amps are pretty darn reasonable in comparison.

  • @metalmachine00 .. orange is mid range expencive i would say ;) .. but sound is the SHIT!

  • somtimes i wonder if orange just makes the low end heads with very few features/controls so we're forced to buy the upper end heads.lol.

  • you dont really need the fat channel!

  • whats that jazzy riff that he playS about 2:25?

  • WANT

  • This amp can actually get a VERY good metal sound (watching this its hard to believe i know lol) but in my opinion if you want a great metal sound and you're "on a budget" kinda thing or you just want an incredibly diverse amp this is a great one to check out, id say for metal heads (or anyone) hook this bad boy up to a mesa cab or a diezel cab and you've got an expensive sound at a decent price :) PS metal heads. BUY A TUBE SCREAMER FOR THIS AMP!!! it sounds like jizz!

  • Was it hard to add a 3 band EQ? Srsly...

  • @ 5;00 this Orange DT has sustain for days WITHOUT losing its tonal character.

@ 9:52 on another youtube video, Paul demos the ENGL PowerBall 100 and it has what appears to be sustain for days but after a few seconds or so, the tonal character begins to change(more like feedback). The Orange Dual Terror is the winner here IMO! Inquiring minds should check this out.

  • BEST CLEAN TONE I'VE EVER HEARD!

  • @akamarutv I fully agree. I had the opportunity to play this last week at Sweetwater Sound, and the clean was to die for. I then switched over to the fat channel and it just rocked. I want one really bad. I cannot afford the larger models, but I think the Dual Terror might be the ticket for me. would love to get a matching 2x12, but those are pretty expensive as well.

  • @MegaDehumanizer sounds good. I play a lot of pantera and lamb of god and mastodon so I don't need anything too incredibly saturated sounding. I think Mastodon uses the thunderverb do they not?

  • I didn't fall in love with the tiny terror at first. In fact, I didn't see what the fuzz was all about. After a while I tried it again with a tube screamer and oh my fucking god...rock has never been heavier!

  • so if this guy could play with any balls...can you get a good metal sound out of this thing?

  • @lilronaldihno14 i got one, and its actually decent for metal, unless you play death metal stuff

  • I don't have a problem with people actually speaking about the gear before they play it, even if they go on for 20 minutes... I find it interesting. But that voice...

  • Comment removed

  • Hahaha "Lets hear the distortion"

    5:00

    Implying that's distortion.

  • Has anyone wondered where paul actually is doing this review? It looks like a creepy abandoned warehouse.....Paul? Explanation? I love your reviews btw!!

  • "be above the influence" ads bother me.

Be above the influence, of government propaganda.

  • Paul needs to learn to play metal. Not specifically in this video. But for example.. his review on the peavey 6505+ 112 .. he said 'this amp is specifically for metal'.. then played some shitty blues lick lol.

  • ITS MARTY MCFLY!!!

  • I thought this was a dual terror review, not prs.

  • Pawlie has a really thick New England accent!

  • paul has been listening to eric johnson too much

  • I have the Orange AD-15, it blows this thing out of the water gz-34 sag 2 el-84's and 2 12 ax7s, try and find one, you want the woman tone, it has it and it was built 9-11-01, the loudest 15 watt amp on the planet, i t burns rock, tiny terror not bad, but with my pedals it turns into a fire breathing sont, btw i hook it up to a well worn purple cab with Celestion V- 30/s, hell of a back drop, try and find this one, it was made in England not China, man if you see it on ebay, snag it!

  • is it me or is the guitar plugged into the 1/4" jack labeled "output"

  • @deathblade7 the jack is labeled "guitar" but it looks like output. aha

  • I bought one of these and the only disappointing thing was the crappy chinese made tubes that i replaced with EHX ones. Tube selection is important with this amp being so direct out with its response. I use this for mostly for practice and band rehearsal at times and as a spare for live. Love this amp, so tonally responsive.

  • @instinctfx exact same thing i did, I'm considering swapping out the power transformer for some more tonal range...My PRS baritone sounds so damn good through the dual! Great Amp!!!

  • @XFattMonsterX

The chinese tubes werent too bad sound wise i thought. They had more of a top end sparkle as opposed to the ehx which are a tad darker sounding in the top end but a nicer bottom end i reckon.

  • Shit is before 1:42 ;)

  • i bet pauls boyfriend does his hair

  • if i have it on 2 tubes occasionally for home use would it eventually put wear on two tubes or will it switch around??

  • how loud can this thing get? not loud enough to gig with i assume?

  • @ghsr82 Just mic it.

  • @ghsr82 think wattage in terms of tubes, they release a whole lot more volume per watt, while solid states are processed, they release far less. 20 watts of tube can easily out run a 40 watt solid state. I have gigged with one of these and they are plenty loud, i was also using a 2x12 cab as well, i kept up with my buddies half stack. When you mic this thing, use it like a moniter, then the sound goes through the house. Flawless.

  • fml sustainnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

  • is this loud enough to keep up with a drummer, without a mic?

  • @drewchaos yes 30 tube watts is enough!

  • i so much fucking want a PRS dave Navarro

  • just noticed that Paul only plays PAUL Reed Smiths or Les PAUL guitars.

    what a whore.

    rofl.

  • @41224jason He plays a ESP too

  • pauls reviews are great but why can't he demonstrate amps using both a strat and les paul style guitars?

  • @orangeampandstrat because that's what PGS is for ;)

  • whats the signal chain for this recording.. i see SM57.. any preamps? or straight into an interface or recorder

  • My 1986 JCM800 sounds better, I'm not gonna switch

  • i wouldnt have anything against prs if it didnt just try to steal from gibson and fender

  • @TheSchoolsux345 steal not really prs is better and the owner was the president of gibson so

  • @TheSchoolsux345 you ever played a PRS? You cant compare it with fender or gibson. Its totally different. Not saying better or worse but different. Copying a les paul shape doesnt mean anything

  • @suihkubad I can say one is better than the other. Gibson is probably the single most inconsisten guitar on the market. They are such a gawd awful company anymore. Fender is still great, the ruin every other company they acquire (Gretsch and Jackson, anyone?) and then PRS is one of the single most conistent high quality companies around. They are exspensive but you know that you are going to get quality that will last for years to come.

  • @jamesryan0929 to be honest, jackson wasn't bound for great things from the beginning

  • Why does guitarworld's demos always sound so brittle? I think its time to rethink some of the recording gear, they have the funding, I don't see why they go for sub-par.

  • PRS aren't overrated. However, in my opinion, Gibson are overrated

  • @AHMADF93 i must agreed with you, my friend ;)

  • what guitar is this?

  • @mtbxcfreak Paul Reed Smith Man. the coolest guitars ever

  • Is the cab the open or closed back? It looks like the closed back but i can't tell for sure!

  • 5:24 somebody farted!!! jk

  • 4:58 SUSTAIN FOR DAYS

  • "And you can see where I have the tone..."

    Uhmmmm... no, I can't

  • do u guys think this head would be loud enogh for small jigs?

  • @sukum17 I have one of these it will handle any gig. Big or small. For stadiums just mic up the cabs.

  • @j12elliott thanks man! keep rockin' B-)

  • @sukum17 this head is awesome. the tiny terror is amazing for gigs.

  • what is the name of the song he played with the clean tone?

  • is he using a cort zenox seires guitar?

  • Not foot switchable so no changing on the fly live.

  • @giffy5775 It is foot switchable.

  • If I were interested in a Strat or Tele, I'd take a look at G&L, also Music Man (although these alternatives are not necessarily cheaper, as their quality has become more known).

  • Epiphones are not bad quality guitars at all. Put in some new pickups and you have a very good sounding guitar for much, much less than it's big brother from Gibson. I'd recommend an Epiphone to anyone who doesn't have $1000+ to spend on a Les Paul or semi-hollow body guitar. Squires seem a little iffy to me.

  • @RBAILEYY You must be joking. 80? Not at all.

  • These Amps and Cabs are so expensive but i don't see why

  • That liquid distortion channel sounds awsome but that lead he does is abnormally awsome.. and F*CK what sustain!

  • wierd guitar like a mix of les paul and prs style WIERD

  • @badger378 It's from the PRS SC series

  • how come he talked about the orange 212, but then it's not miced and they're not even using it for the demo?

  • @Exit2EnterOfficial I think he is using it man. You can see the mic several times throughout the video.

  • if you would go "back to the future" what amp would you use hey ? O.o :P

  • Is this amp good for lamb of god, killswitch or anything heavy like that?

  • @misztal2112

With a boost sure, but that's not what the thing is designed for.

Check out a blackstar, or a Jet City

  • @misztal2112 jim root of slipknot used orange amps

  • @misztal2112 Yeah, I use it for Metal/Hardcore with the Boss ML-2 Metal Core pedal and it sounds amazing.

  • Is it good to play megadeth, ac/dc, blues, and heavy stuff?

Should i get a distortion pedal? What pedal do u recommend?

    thx

  • which is better for the buck, this or its equivalent marshall? or perhabs a line6?

  • @patrick34page The Dual Terror is fantastic. I would really recommend it!

  • @patrick34page

Line 6 sounds like angry bees.

  • @ZeppelinRules Peavey Vyper, FTW!

  • the clean makes me sneeze in my jortz

  • I bought one of these today, and have been running it through a Marshall 1936v cab. I also bought an Orange foot-switch, that I can plug into the back of the amp and switch between the two channels.

This is an awesome amp! It blows the socks off my JMP-1+8008 combination that I had been using. In 30W mode, this amp is LOUD!

  • PRS are NOT overrated. OverPRICED, sure. OverRATED, I think not.

  • @XxxxxJamesxxxX usually being overrated leads to being overpriced but I get your point.

  • @XxxxxJamesxxxX Their lower priced models are DEFINITELY "overrated". I mean, this is true of most manufacturers, sure. However, PRS still commands a premium for what basically amounts to something on the level of Epiphone or Squier quality.

  • @revolutionday1 I have to disagree. I've played Squires, Epis, and PRS SEs and comparing any PRS to a Squire is a joke. Epiphones come a little closer but there are some Epis the same price of Korean made PRSs. And I think PRSs still play much better

  • @XxxxxJamesxxxX Well, in the words of the great Dave Chappelle "some people say cucumbers taste better pickled...", I guess. I own an Epiphone, and while it's hardly the most quality piece of gear...by-far, it feels less like a "toy guitar" to me than the PRS SE that I played in a store. The PRS even allegedly had Seymour Duncan pickups, but the tone was kinda' thin and shitty sounding to me. I still almost bought it, but if the price was better, I would've and just replaced the pickups.

  • @revolutionday1 tell you the truth epiphone has a good rythym sound but the pickups arent very active for my taste as i do shredding and blues so the guitars dont hold up as well as a prs even with the stock pickups.

  • @XxxxxJamesxxxX your opinion overpriced. my opinion worth every penny.

  • @XxxxxJamesxxxX I wouldnt even say overpriced. You get a PRS SC245 for about the price of a Gibson Les Paul Standard and i think your getting way more for your money with the PRS.

  • @XxxxxJamesxxxX Overpriced are you joking? Have you seen how they work?, everything is put togather by hand and their quality control is the best in the world! And they are cheaper than most handmade guitars and even cheaper than gibson. They are priced accordingly, quite the fair deal.

  • @XxxxxJamesxxxX not overpriced. do u realize how much goes into making a prs guitar? literally every american made one is 90% handmade.

  • @daha1 thats not true, prs guitars that arent private stock are made in a similar fashion that Taylor guitars are with alot of computers, machines and cnc cookie cutters. WHat drives the price is the aesthetics that they have. Those woods arent cheap and people are a suckers for pretty guitars. Gimme the most beatup nastiest lookin tele or les paul or w.e but if the thing plays and roars I dont need some bullshit birds on my fretboard for another 1000 bucks

  • @XxxxxJamesxxxX i agree, prs are awesome guitars, but they are a bit too expensive

  • @XxxxxJamesxxxX who the fuck was the ass-hole that thought PRS were overrated???? o_O'

I agree bro, Over-priced...maybe. But never ever ever overrated. I own an SE one, still feel and sound amaznig... cant' wait to get my real one soon!

  • It isn't a bad amp. It sounds like a JCM 800 distorted and has a distinct clean sound that I like. So why the hell did they wrap the sound in bright orange and then name it as such? It looks like a Woodstock amp for hippies; not a serious amp for professionals.

  • Jcm 800? what the hell r you talkin about? Jcm 800s have a great upper midrange/ treble thing going on, oranges are more low mids and bass. Actually come to think of it, they would sound amazing in stereo....

  • My BAD, I took a look at this video again and the Tiny terror Channel clean really is clean. Same for the Fat channel also. Too many years of loud music LOL

  • does it have reverb

  • Is thvideo or my ears? The clean didn't sound really that clean.

Now the Fat Channel, that's the money there. As Paul say's, This is where it starts to grow FUR! LOL

  • I've tried the original Terror, it kicks ass. Gobs of gain, monster tone. Plug in any decent Gibson or PRS and you're in business.

  • this guy needs a new line to say at d end of this video

  • wtf??? insane sustain!! 4:58-5:09 lol

  • does the dual T have any bass respone? all the vids i see i cant hear bass at all,

  • @eatthemoon13 ........no...they have a volume, tone, and gain

  • Its only chorus, phaser, flanger, delay and reverb that will suffer. The others you mention are best infront of the amp. But to be honest these amps are designed to be nearly fully cranked...i.e driving the power output valves to distortion too which having an effects loop wouldn't solve completely

  • say you had a pedal board with a Wah, compressor, overdrive/distortion, equalizer, chorus, phaser, flanger, delay and reverb.

what would happen? a massive loss in tone? hum? or would a noise gate solve THAT problem as well.

  • if this had an effects loop, it could be the perfect amp head

  • does not having one create an issue?

  • generally-speaking, modulation & time-based effects(chorus, delay, reverb, etc.) sound MUCH better in the effects loop because the loop is AFTER the preamp in the signal chain... do you want distortion applied to your delay repeats, or delay added to your distorted tone? BIG difference. See what I mean?

(if you just use the clean channel and get all your dirt from pedals, then no, not having an effects loop wouldn't matter.)

  • are orange cabs good cabs for distortion and clean too? and where can i get them?

  • @posiedonpowertrio - anything from Orange sounds great - but they are abit expensive. Go to Humbucker Music(dot)com to buy. American Musical and zZounds(same company) are now carrying Orange. So is Sweetwater. Prices don't seem to vary at all between sources(I think Orange has something to do with that).

  • I was all set to get the tiny terror 10"combo for practice etc but after watching this again its got me thinking lol. This option would no doubt be better in a live situation, I have two 1x12 marshall cabs already, plus an orange 4x12 but that rarely gets moved lol

  • i dont know if i really like the fat channel that much..... ill take my jca20 over that amp

  • can't tell whats sexier. the guitar or the amp xD

  • dream tone. I would probably go with the rocker 30 though. Same kind of tone with a 3 band eq and a clean channel

  • Pity there is no effect loop on this. The single tone control as the EQ, i could live with. No reverb either.

  • The whole thing with PRS and Gibson is the wood types and the quality of the parts and the make.

  • Exactly, PRS uses amazing tone woods and proprietary locking tuners. Gibson uses cheap shit tone woods and the grovers they use barely work. Somebody play Les Paul Studio and tell me it stacks up against a PRS SE.

I know I'm gonna be flamed, but people should play with their hands and listen with their ears, not wallets.

  • @0ftheWALLS i've played both and for the money yes the prs is a better buy, but the studios do have slightly richer tone. However i have an sg standard which is incredible and cost slightly less than a studio

  • I just have a vendetta against Gibson, that's all. I'll stick to my Ibanez for the moment, until I can save the 4000$ for a real PRS that'll fry any Gibson out there.

Of relevance to the actual video, Orange cabs are the best thing ever. I <3 mine. Weighs a metric ass ton though.

  • Haha i have heard orange cabs are amazing and i'd love to try one. But yeah the high end prs are amazing! far better than any gibson i'v heard

  • meh i kinda like the kluson tuners.

  • if it only had spring reverb built in

  • yo paul pls do a review/demo of the ZT Lunchbox

  • fisrt channel sounds a little like the who

  • That note went on forever :o

  • prs rock better than most overrated guitar companies... I shall say no names lol

  • lol prs are overrated too

  • dude the only thing better about prs guitars than gibsons are their tops. thats it and prs are twice the price

  • untrue. prs's craftsmanship and build quality is so much better. not to mention better hardware.

  • on newer models yes but older gibsons are very well built

  • @godlikecharacta yeah i wouldn't, that'd be like saying metallica suck :P

  • @godlikecharacta I will! Gibson, Fender, Dean, BC Rich.

  • @LessthanJake14 BCRich is actually getting there names out of the dirt now lol Not really Overrated when everyone hates them...Gibson, Dean both over rated Fender's Custom SHops and "Relic" guitars Over rated. lol

  • @twiztedchild666 Well, yeah that's right actually. Lol.

  • @LessthanJake14 Yeah. That being said though.. I ike guitars from Each of those companys..Dean I just like the Razorback shape everything else sucks to me

  • @twiztedchild666 Yeah, me too. The Gibson LP (as everyone knows) is a classic tone; despite it being overrated.

The Razorback has a nice shape, but is HORRIFICALLY made. DBZ do a similar shape, but the quality control is exquisite.

  • @LessthanJake14 I never tried the DBZ yet. I would love to.

  • @godlikecharacta how you say a guitar company is overrated? Guitars are a matter of taste and everyone picks a guitar suited best for them

  • @suihkubad While sound and feel are subjective, quality is objective. Not saying that PRS is lacking in quality

  • @suihkubad

    if in the budget [=

  • @suihkubad I totally agree with that. If it's too expensive what other guitar would give you the same tone and playability? I think that way with amps too and cabs. A lot of people get a really nice head and then get a cheapy little cab and it's like whats the point of that? you just spent $1500 on a head and now you ruined it by getting a crate cab (not dissing crate there's just better stuff even for the price) like jet city has GREAT cabs for the price. and the 4x12 is only $400.

  • @godlikecharacta

    *cough* gibson *cough*

  • Comment removed

  • @Toaster121 overrated, no. Overpriced, yes.

  • :o how does he get so much sustain on that note at the end of his solo??

  • Feedback ;-)

  • the guitar is called prs tremonti bit like a gibson but a lil diffrent

  • its a SC245. The Tremonti model has an open coil humbucker and a trem.

  • that guitar has some epic sustain.

  • what's the name of that guitar?

  • I was just thinking the same.

  • dool terror

  • anyone know a good amp for playing metal.?

  • get yourself a good old mesa boogie

  • Peavey 5150 (original; my personal favorite) or Mesa/Boogie Mark IV.

  • anything with enough gain. really, listen to some, find your amp. there is no other way.

  • is the the open back cabinet? they have now a closed back and an open back 212, the difference is that the open back one has diagonal speakers
