I have one question, does all of this take place within the phone or online? I mean, does the iPhone recognizes what you say and transcribe it and understand it all by itself, or does it just sends the audio to an online apple server where they actually give you then the response? because that would mean that you could only use siri if you're within network reception.
@ethaneveraldo The responses you get are pre-programmed within the phone (what date is it?etc.), however for things like movie theaters and other request that require the internet you have to be connected to a network.

Actually I checked at the Apple store and they told me Siri is 100% "on the cloud"/online. the only exception is the voice synthesis which is made by the phone itself (that's why it doesn't sounds so great, my GPS has a more natural voice than Siri), but the voice recognition, processing, data retrieving, etc is all done over the internet. I was told that if you go off network or if you have no connection somehow, Siri will not work. kinda a bummer

I have one question, does all of this take place within the phone or online? I mean, does the iPhone recognizes what you say and transcribe it and understand it all by itself, or does it just sends the audio to an online apple server where they actually give you then the response? because that would mean that you could only use siri if you're within network reception.

@ethaneveraldo The responses you get are pre-programmed within the phone (what date is it?etc.), however for things like movie theaters and other request that require the internet you have to be connected to a network.

@EvilripNGU Thanks for your reply. Actually I checked at the Apple store and they told me Siri is 100% "on the cloud"/online. the only exception is the voice synthesis which is made by the phone itself (that's why it doesn't sounds so great, my GPS has a more natural voice than Siri), but the voice recognition, processing, data retrieving, etc is all done over the internet. I was told that if you go off network or if you have no connection somehow, Siri will not work. kinda a bummer
