  • i actually didnt know u could eat oats "raw"... just tried and it actually tastes pretty good... btw i was looking for apple sauce in the grocery store, and there were like 6-7 kinds of them and like all except 1 had high fructose corn syrup added.... just 1 with no sugar added and that one tastes great (eating now.. lol)

  • DUDE! apple sauce YES! ive been using this for years as a sugar supp in my oatmeal!

  • I don't think the coffee before working out is a good idea because the caffeine raises your heart rate and blood pressure, which is not necessarily good before a work out (which would further raise it). It could be an added work load for your heart. Someone also mentioned it could be an irritant for the stomach, which is true.

    But the oatmeal and apple sauce is a great cheap solution as a pre work out meal. That part to me is a great tip!

  • @DogsGoQuackx This is technically not raw oatmeal since it's pre-boiled/cooked, and just dried-up... the only real 'raw' oatmeal out there are steel cut oats.

  • @arab4ever I think the confusion comes from people thinking it's called expresso because it's quick, when in truth it's called espresso because the water is pressed through the ground coffee..

  • Add some plain cinnamon (not cinnamon sugar) it is good for you too and ups the flavor!

  • I have oatmeal everyday (COOKED) - and a bowl of fruit. What is the value of eating it uncooked? I microwave it which doesn't take long. (Also like soft cooked egg and toast). Hope you don't eat your eggs raw. Just kidding. Been a devoted viewer since day 1. Thanks for sharing !

  • Very close to what I used to use Pre-Workout, except I'd drink OJ instead of Espresso. I moved away from the OJ when I started creatine. I never found a pre-workout drink that made me more energetic. I did find one, but production of it stopped in 2008.

  • This is great - only if you are really going to work-out, if not - it is too much caffeine and too much carbs. (And, and not sound picky - but it is "ESpresso" not "Expresso" - I hear that a lot)

  • thanks - I've belonged to a gym for years but haven't gone in over two years - diabetic and I used to have insulin reactions the next morning when I had worked out the evening before - but I ate no special snack. I love oatmeal and can use sugarless applesauce and coffee with no sugar and maybe start trying to hit the gym

  • I'm happy that you picked oatmeal! I have seen others recommend flax not realizing that it can cause blockages in the intestional tract. Oatmeal is the best cereal food humans. If you get a small crockpot and combine 1 to 3 parts water set a timer use steelcut oats and you have a great breakfast workout starter. Steelcut oats will stick with you almost all day, and with you great colon toning. You will have the best, cleanest, no mess, lonest, smoothest shits in your life. Add a little Olive oil

  • All those supplements do really is mimic the effects of having a nice shot of caffeine. Hence his coffee recommendation. Easily add 5-10 lbs to each workout if I am lucky enough to drink one before. Just curious, how many cups do you have a day?

  • I like to go to the gym in the morning so would this be suitable for breakfast or should I add something? Like egg or something? I usually don't eat a lot before the gym. What I have had in the past was 2 eggs and a banana.

  • I do eat half a cup of oatmeal, but I boil it in water and add blueberrys. I do work out 1 hour per day but I´ve never been to a gym in my life.

  • Several of my friends are always trying those crazy muscle-building products/concoctions. Even if they do bring about results (which they probably don't), they probably aren't great for your body in the long run.

  • LMAO for covering up the Quaker Label, pretending like no one recognizes the quaker man on the canister. Haha. Just as a Nutritional Note: Whole Oats and Old Fashioned oatmeal is more healthy for you and gives you more energy than Quick or Instant Oatmeal. So if you can buy and eat Whole or Old Fashioned, it would be much better for you.

  • Love the idea of adding apple sauce to oatmeal. I ran out of brown sugar once and added some strawberry preserves instead. It was delicious too.

  • you need fat, protiens, and carbs. My diet I usually have about 2 cups of eggwhites n a cup n a quarter of oatmeal for breakfast.

  • Yep! I do two 2 oz. shots of espresso generally every day prior to hitting the CrossFit kool-aid. My pre-workout is usually 1 scrambled egg w/ a side of microwaved berries mixed with almond butter & cinnamon. I follow a very "clean" Paleo Diet. No grains, no dairy, no legumes (peanuts, beans, soy, etc.); so I consume lean meats, lots of colorful vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, very little starch, and a sh*t-ton of fat (mainly mono-unsat. Omega-3s). w/ an intense workout = super fitness

  • I recommend oatmeal, peanut butter (tastes great), bananas and raisins. Cheap, great protein from the peanut butter, good fiber and natural sugars.
