  • If u pause it at 1:47 it looks like he missed it

  • they would remain there until '74,when they were moved to the end line,10 yards back of the goal),I laughed out load9the longest NFL FG until then had been 56 yards,by another handicapped player,Bert Rechicar). Then Dempsey advances, kicks this ball, which flies like a bird and nestles JUST OVER the goalposts!!!)

  • @BlackCowboyBrett1953 my father told me that when he was traded the following year to the lions...they players on the team told him ''they didnt even really try to block the kick'' ...''they thought he had no chance of making it.''..thought that was funny ..

  • @BlackCowboyBrett1953 whether that is true or not ...who knows? looked like to me they were tring

  • I was 17 and in Grade Twelve...The Lions were about 19-point favourites,as I recall,

because the Saints fired coach Tom Fears the Wednesday before the game, and the club was dissension-riddled.Anyway,to my9and millions of other folks')amazement, the Saints played the Loins even, then trailing 17-16,with a few seconds left,I saw this big,fat one-armed(and one-and-one-half-footed)dude trot onto

the field. When he lined up to kick from the Saints 44(the goal-posts were on the goal line in 1970:

  • 0:28 This should've been a Personal Foul penalty on the Lions....1:33 And this should've been a False Start penalty on the Saints. The last player at the bottom had moved...I know they would've called Personal Foul and False Start now in these days.

  • @Joshuaguss its because they were actually allowed to play football back them

  • @machiiniiima Yeah I see, I wonder what penalties they have now that they didn't have back then. I already know they didn't have "Unsportsmanlike Conduct, Neutral Zone in Fraction, illegal Block in the Back, Penalty for hitting the QB on the head, stepping on your teammate's back to try to block a FG and Delay of game for slaming the ball."

  • @Joshuaguss i know dempsey was great back then. his accuracy was high 77 percent. it says 61 on nfl.com but thats wrong. its 77 % and i wish tom would go to the hall of fame

  • @Joshuaguss haha

  • WHO DAT say they gonna beat them Saints? WHO DAT

  • Wow. What makes this kick so amazing is how effortless is looks. It's as if

Dempsey didn't put any extra effort at all into the kick....

  • RIP Mel Farr.

Is that Bil Munson as QB for the Lions?

  • "probobly the most important game in saints' history" NOT ANYMORE

  • I never noticed Dempsey actualy had to stutter step on his approach because the timing of the hold was off. Amazing.

I was watching this game on TV and saw the field goal as it happened live.

  • Good thing this game didn't take place in todays age with the current field goal position or that kick would have never even hit the crossbar.

  • @markmansion yea well it was still 63 yards..

  • @wyattherb23 Plus he wasn't kicking soccer style.

  • @markmansion and for the people who dont know.....they call it the boot of dempsey becuz he only had half of a foot ... so soccer style would have been tuff...

  • It's "the might BOOT of Dempsey".

  • GEAUX SAINTS!!!

  • i love that field goal saints r awsome

  • wow.....that's really far.

  • the kicker with half a foot

  • 63 yards... still going strong!

  • Greta Video!!! Just wondering the song you

have playing in the background "The Mighty

Boot Of Dempsey" by Bobby Bridger. What

is the record it's on? Been trying to find it but

no luck. Thanks for posting this.

  • The TV station included the music with the video. I had that song on 45 at one time but didn't find it when I moved 10 years ago. The best place to start looking is on eBay and then move on to various Saints related blogs and websites.

  • @doowopallnightlong I still have my 45 of that song. Side B is a reenactment of the call.

  • Alexander Laurent was such a kissass. How the hell are you gonna cover a team when your'e buddying up with the players. All sizzle, no steak.

  • lets go saints!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
