I say well done to Gordon Brown for making the effort to make use of up to date media forums like this one. The habitual and unwarranted slagging of of the man by the ill informed masses and the totally biased right wing Murdoch run media throughout his premiershp and during the recent election has been absolutely disgraceful and has made me ashamed of my fellow countrymen.
If conservative run the government theBritiain's economic and everything would be much worst than whatever you imagine, Just learn from the post and look at the future.
I think the labour party is and has been dealing with economic crisis to the best of their abilities. All i have seen David Cameron do is criticise Gordon Brown instead of offering anything useful and I highly doubt that the conservatives would have done better in the same situation that labour has been in.
Brown and The Labour Party are taking urgent action to help family's and businesses recover from the economic downturn, the Conservatives sit there and oppose every thing Labour want to introduce. They would do nothing.
Wow, so progressive Gordon! Glad to see you giving yourself a pat on the back, you look pleased.

He hasn't made a "mess" with the economy. It's a GLOBAL financial crisis, it was inevitable that it would effect us with Gordon Brown being PM or not.
The over dependence of the UK economy on cheap mortgages, borrowing to fuel high street spending, the decline of our manufacturing, coupled with an over reliance on revenue streams from stamp duty and the financial sector have left the UK uniquely placed to be the worst hit of all the western economies.
I used to vote Labour: I support high taxes to pay for good services. I support progressional tax-those who are richer pay more. The Tories "trickle down theory" makes me feel sick and I don't believe paying people loads at the top helps people at the bottom. I think the answer may just be a better political education so that people who earn less than 80 grand a year no they won't benefit by voting Tory or any other right-wing party-they are not planning on cutting taxes for lower incomes..
paying people at the top makes the money stagnate which causes economic crises, we have to circulate the money by taxing the rich and circulating money through the economy
We are now entering a MASSIVE recession...lets see how popular he is in 2010...I predict a landslide victory for the Tories...then more of the same bullshit..no doubt some red robot monkey will filter out my comments and i will be put on the subversive danger list. My passport will be revoked and given to a more needy Malaysian person...i'm fine with it...can we swap countries?
My question is democracy, It seems to me that we only use democracy because nothing is better for the economic society but economics in the uk isn't working for me or others around the uk as a whole or we wouldn't be questioning' the parliamentary ethics on different issues from petrol,war,employment,education,taxes...etc
so could someone explain how democracy isn't a dictatorship to the minority because it looks that way, The only real choice i seem to have is to vote or not.
why not put Tax on Tax and put tax on breathing tax on being English and why not tax on life itself and pay yourself more money for rubbish ideas. Stupid me your doing this already I'm already a foreigner in my own country as I have carry passport to go for an job interviews.I could say more but why bother they do not listen.Welcome to the Orwellian society.
What rubbish. Putting tax to pay for your and your familys educationa and helath service can hardly be called a bad thing. Money actually doesn't grow on trees.
gordon you need to make laws that make religions not be able to get away with murder, britain must be more secular. also get us out of europe as the european commision is not a body that was voted for. and you should take power away from the bank of england and take us back on the gold standard, and also people should be able to tick 'none' in the vote box so that there'll be empty seats in parliament instead of people who got in power on less than 50% of the vote
It won't give us a chance to get our voice heard, it'll give us a chance to be censored & monitored, as soon as we post a video response which challenges the establishment.
I used to like Brown as chancellor, but he wanted the job so bad he's lost sight of what he should be focusing on.
I honestly cannot remember the last time I've heard him speak on the news on anything of note, since he got the job and that's poor, especially as there's been no improvements to British standards of living.
i think they need to go back to the beginning we seem to be taking 1 step forward and two steps back.. for example the 24 hour drinking, how can this kind of law lessin the amount of drinking in clubs etc, you must have known it would get out of hand. now your tryin to find ways to lower binge drinking stats in the UK.
It looks like Gordon is standing in front of a portrait of Queen Elizabeth I, the most enlightened monarch in English history, who ushered in an era of unprecedented political, social and economic advancement during her long reign. Chances of Gordon doing the same? Zero.
That said, and although I also think Tony Blair should be in the Hague over Iraq, I'm still a Labour Party supporter in principle.
Gordon is a man of many good morals but his biggest weakness is a failure to follow through and match his words with actions. I hope he will help provide us with more jobs and hope, I feel that Labour doesnt care about people and they dont want to help make us have a btter life, so all we can do is campaign to the government andbe more people focussed than legislation focussed and not following promises with real action
Utter rubbish Brown! you are as much a socialist as Margaret Thatcher was! All the smiling and talk about bright futures and peoples rights don't fool anybody with half a brain!
Gordon, who taught you how to do phoney smiles? It's nauseating and you probably used the same teacher as Tony Blair who developed a similar inane grin every few sentences shortly after becoming PM. Why not simply be yourself? You never smiled quite so falsely before you became PM. I certainly wouldn't buy a used car from you !
i think gordin should look at ower country and look after the people, and not try and sponge ower money, with the emmission law and congestion charge, and raising tax, just to raise funds, to bail out someone else, you don't see the USA taking price raises like we do!! we need to stand up and say no more!
Would the Prime Minister look at nepotism in the public sector and send a clear message out that if you are caught it will cost you not only you job but a hefty fine to. Let's see some real equality and make sure every single position whatever public sector department it is in, is offered equally to all - no more appointments please. Break this cycle an get some real people who'll make a difference.
Not that this has much to do with politics - but Gordon - dont try so hard to smile! your natural smile is lovely, but trying to shove a few in when you think about during a speech doesnt look natural and detracts from what you are saying. Just be yourself and if that means a stern serious look even if you dont mean to be - go with the flow. To be honest I prefer my politicians with serious faces - for some reason I trust them more.
lol the governments got youtube!! ..btw i think people are too hard on Gordan Brown-Blair left a mess for him to clean up.btw im 14 so if u disagree im unlikely to be able to have a political debate...lol
The Government has made mistakes. All governments have. It's the effect each has on society that counts. Thatcher et al left us a run-down, decrepit infrastructure, falling down schools & a minimal Health Service. Now, in contrast, our new City Hospital is magnificent - well equipped & buzzing with staff. The Tories will revert to minimal public expenditure. It's what they believe in. I just wish Cameron wouldn't try to disguise it by soft words and generalities with no detailed policies.
i would actually start funding our lads in wars for once and spend money on the armed forces more naval destroyers better equipment for the army, better euqipment for the raf better equipment for the navy and actually show people who is boss if they even thought about messing with us.
And also Grodon, its about time you started defending England rather than stabbing it in the back, oh wiat your Scottish, theres no shock there then. Imagine there was an English person head of the Scottish government, there would be a big uproar, England for the English! English Independence! English government NOW!
Thank you Gordon Brown for taking our troops out of Iraq. I am sure you will correct Tony Blair's mistakes ie War, University Fee's, Nauseatingly close ties with America.
He may not be the best public speaker, but hes doing a good job as Prime Minister, he looks as though he has the weight of the world on his shoulders! Give him time im sure he'll be more comfortable infront of the camera.
Britain is goin to fallm rott from the inside i know it. All British assetts are sold off (TVR,ROVER,ROLLS ROYCE etc)so instead britain raises residential tax and introduces acts and bills which pretty much robs us, and lower commercial tax to a point-
In my view the government are doing enough to help those in poverty, thats why we have a recession and a class division because the middle/upper class don't get any benefits and are losing money as a result. Therefore we should all be equally benefited within society to keep order. If we keep order in society and the class system doesn't disappear, then we can easily indicate and tackle the real problems. Resulting in a fair and better society with less poverty.
I could do a better job than him! I'd make sure everyone and i mean everyone gets £50,000 to start them off in life when their 16! Too many people are struggling with debts nowadays because the government are not doing enough to help those in povety!
I feel sorry for the labour party politicians because i think that big business has all the power and the politicians have to be friendly to big buisiness or they will cut investment in the uk economy and take their capital abroad.
When are the mass of people going to realise that our democracy is really an oligarchy?
Large corporations do have a lot of power. They emply at lot of people and generate a lot of revenue, some of which, is given to the governments via taxes and duties. Politics can be heavily influenced by those with corporate power and it is up to the mechanisms in place to see these connections. I do find it galling that MPs expenses aren't public record. Automatically, this allows MPs to hide the source and destination of money. Perhaps, this is why were not rated very highly as a democracy.
Why is it that people in the uk have a need to find fault in everything the government does, i mean the amount of slack that Gordon Brown has taken since he became prime minister is un-warranted, lets look at the price hikes we have had when John Major was prime minister the charges, the taxes that have gone up, even with blair it was the same and Brown now had maintained the same level of interest with the bank of england, i believe that this is the best way for this country to move forward.
Everytime I see the Labour party call themselves socialist I laugh my self silly. They must be kidding. Britain has the option of 3 different flavours of the same products. The only thing you can have a say in is choosing the least bitter. Britain is ranked 23rd on the democracy index whilst USA is well above at 17th. Sweden is first, that place where kids go to school at 7, whilst our politicians reject that as silly.
lol dus sum 1 behind the camera hold up a cake at random intervals cos u keep on seein his face gleem with false delight and if u listen around 0:53 im sure dere is a gun shot or summet lol hes not dat bad
Be yourself - be confident. I have no doubt Gordon is the giant of this political generation but the fake smiles have to go. This is a respect issue. If we want "mateyness" I'll go to a dinner party with Dave C. If I want a heavyweight leader, Brown wins everytime.
Dont get your economical, number crunching, math calculating god damn face on you tube to try and "be down" with this generation if you cant even look into the camera! when your trying to reach out to someone do you look at the floor whilst talking??? no, you look them in the eye, in this case, the camera!
I'm old enough to remember 'you've never had it so good' times - they were! Today, I wouldn't lift a finger to help anyone in authority. This country has totally lost the plot.
Why are the posts being "approved"? is it democracy in action again? I thought youtube was a vehicle for free speech. Perhaps it's like the old Ice-T album.....
"Freedom Of Speech, Just Watch What You Say." Absolutely pitiful!
I use YouTube to relax, switch off and to watch and listen to music. I personally think it is not a place for politicians or politics spouting off. Its like when i listen to Classic FM last thing in the evening, when i try to relax, only for an advert reminding me (in a very sinister voice)that they know where i am if i dont buy a TV licence,or that they can crush my car for not paying road tax, or No Ifs Or Buts, etc etc. Thanks a lot.
No the internet is for the chosen few who just happen to have enough money, to pay the bills, for broad band. While old people are choosing whether they should eat or heat their house, their unlikely to have a say in politics. Now everything is going online.
I think that it doesnt matter who you vote for, we will never be happy with our government because they will never be able to please everybody or keep the economy on an even keel. VOTE RAVING LOONY
Give Gordon a chance..Never ever forget how the Tories ripped apart this country for the interests of City slickers, sold all our national assets, were happy with 3 million unemployed, mass social unrest, serious corruption not like Labour's pathetic admininistrative errors..Labour are not perfect but they are running the country more for the interests of the many: Labour restored hope after the Tories thrived on despair
PLease, this guy couldn't "engage" a tape recorder. Most British politions these days have NNOOOO idea about the everyday man&woman. But at the same time, Brtish people love to moan and rant, and be passionate like the French who take it to the streets.
I think it is important to understand that there are those people out there who still appreciate the leafleting done across the country. I agree wholeheartedly the point you are making, but also believe that it is important not to abandon the ways of the past. I am a student who regularly leaflets for the local Labour MP's in support of their campaigns and those against the BNP.
I like Japanese, I hate the practice of whales dolphin hunting wherever it exists. Like myself, if we do not speak out for these beautiful mammals-animals please tell me who will? Japan say it kills Whales for Scientific reasons. Really, we know all we need to know. In fact it is my opinion that we know to much!!! I just do not buy this argument?
I don't think anyone can "edit" these comments. The people above, who believe that their comments have been "removed", are mistaken! You will notice the drop down menu at the top of the page, by default set at "Show -5 or better". This suggests that your comments were not "edited" in the manner you suspect but simply "filtered" as being judged not worth reading by a majority of people who have read them.
In order to reach out, would it be possible that we can see Prime Minister's Questions on Youtube either on this Labour Party channel or the Downing Street Channel?
nothing but rubbish is coming out of his mouth. he appears to be just repeating the word "engage". why doesnt brown try tellin us why he sent most of our money to help other countries when ours is in more trouble than ever?
Labour/Tory makes no difference, party politics is a a sham, they all dance to the tune of bankers and big business, jobs for the boys and sleaze up to thier eyeballs.
Dont mention the War(s)
As for our special "relationship" with the United States, well that is another parcel of rouges and warmongers.
Scottish socialist??? did you enjoy your tea with auld Maggie Thatcher Gordon?? or did she steal the milk!?.
The only thing this Labour Government has proven is how one government can take your money and waste it.
We pay more taxes than anyone else in the world and still have the worst train system, and the worst medical system, and the worst crime rates, and unbelievable road congestion.
What is my solution: Lower the taxes, lower the NI contributions, and at the same time cut, cut, cut the pork fat spending of this bloated, welfare state government.
thats because our money for taxes does not go towards paying for schools, the NHS, and road fixing, they take our money and pay it towards the centel bank to pay the debt they are in from loaning their money.
Actually, teddyco2112, we pay less taxes compared to most countries in Europe; thatcher destroyed the trains; we have a fantastic (life-saving) medical service full of great people; I walk safely where I live in London; and road congestion is caused by you with your single-person-in-your-car drive to work.
The Labour party are communists, they want to control us by bringing out small laws like the smoking ban to keep us under control, and that is communism. sort yourself out Brown!
Actually, dabe111, the no-smoking law is there to allow people like me (who suffered from your arrogant, selfish, drug-addicted, poisonous. stinking smoke) to enjoy going out at last.
Labour are not communists for bringing in no-smoking rules, it was because of your selfishness.
The anti-smoking laws are a gross infringment on our civil liberities. Don't lie, you can enjoy going out with smoking, especially if they are confined to smoking zones. Now smokers, who are a fairly inoffensive lot, smoking causes no social problems etc, are forced out of any building. It's their right to be an addict and now everywhere smells of BO because their isn't the cigarette smell to cover it. btw I also don't smoke
just for your information nicklansley i do not smoke myself and i perfer the pubs smoke free but i don't agree with stopping people from smoking in pubs because it's controlling us and taking away our rights.
The Labour party are not suppose to be Communists but in my opinion, if you take the no smoking ban in pubs, we have been stopped from smoking in pubs. So as far as i am concerned stopping us from doing that is control. Therefore it's Communism.
But they are STOPPING you from killing yourself. Does that class as control? They are not stopping you from doing anything, the legislation is there for public health. Maybe you should argue that they are STOPPING you from killing people because of legislation.
Can't imagine why you are smiling in this video! It must be because you are robbing us of our hard earned money to give generously overseas and you have helped to destroy our country's identity etc.etc.etc. Don't suppose you will be reading this then!
I've really liked Labourvison since it's launch. I just hope that the PM gets a bit more involved - access to Ministers is good but I want the big man!
i am 50 years old and have always voted labour since the time i became of voting age.
two words...NEVER AGAIN.
Tony blair was a disaster and i thought well maybe gordon brown might be better...sadly that was wishful thinking....gordon is just tony in a different form but with less charm.
you choose Labour...Conservative....or mabye but I very much doubt it Lib Dem....Thats democracy? If you dont like these then you can vote for another party, but Ill give you ten million to one odds if any other party ever get in power! Ill even throw in the Lib Dem in that deal as well!
I like what your saying but 1. look at the camera. 2. stop smiling so much. YouTube is about telling us what you feel and think - not what your reading!
This man, whether u like his policies or not, is a man of great intellect and you will rue the day you did not let him steer us through the recovery!

If it was a question of policies, Labour would win hands down. The problem is the young who don't remember the Tories from last time. I DO!
There are weaknesses in the Tory line, these have got to be exploited to the fullest if GB is to win the next election.

Imagine there was an English person head of the Scottish government, there would be a big uproar, England for the English! English Independence! English government NOW!

Britain is goin to fallm rott from the inside i know it. All British assetts are sold off (TVR,ROVER,ROLLS ROYCE etc)so instead britain raises residential tax and introduces acts and bills which pretty much robs us, and lower commercial tax to a point-

why cant we defend ourselves against yobs with stun guns Mr Brown or is that to much of a difficult question for your party?

What is my solution: Lower the taxes, lower the NI contributions, and at the same time cut, cut, cut the pork fat spending of this bloated, welfare state government.
teddyco2112 4 years ago 2
thats because our money for taxes does not go towards paying for schools, the NHS, and road fixing, they take our money and pay it towards the centel bank to pay the debt they are in from loaning their money.
dabe111 4 years ago
Actually, teddyco2112, we pay less taxes compared to most countries in Europe; thatcher destroyed the trains; we have a fantastic (life-saving) medical service full of great people; I walk safely where I live in London; and road congestion is caused by you with your single-person-in-your-car drive to work.
Wake up, dosey!

dabe111 4 years ago
you can't do this,you can't say that,you can't say that,you can't.labours policy
misterfisherman 4 years ago
Actually, dabe111, the no-smoking law is there to allow people like me (who suffered from your arrogant, selfish, drug-addicted, poisonous. stinking smoke) to enjoy going out at last.
Labour are not communists for bringing in no-smoking rules, it was because of your selfishness.
nicklansley 4 years ago
The anti-smoking laws are a gross infringment on our civil liberities. Don't lie, you can enjoy going out with smoking, especially if they are confined to smoking zones. Now smokers, who are a fairly inoffensive lot, smoking causes no social problems etc, are forced out of any building. It's their right to be an addict and now everywhere smells of BO because their isn't the cigarette smell to cover it. btw I also don't smoke
dannomates 4 years ago 5
just for your information nicklansley i do not smoke myself and i perfer the pubs smoke free but i don't agree with stopping people from smoking in pubs because it's controlling us and taking away our rights.
dabe111 4 years ago 2
The Labour party are not suppose to be Communists but in my opinion, if you take the no smoking ban in pubs, we have been stopped from smoking in pubs. So as far as i am concerned stopping us from doing that is control. Therefore it's Communism.
dabe111 4 years ago
I don't think you know what communism is.
autohat 4 years ago 2
communism is equil like a baker would earn now more money in his job than a doctor but communisum is also control or "state control".
is actuaily says in the dictionary so i can't be wrong..
dabe111 4 years ago
But they are STOPPING you from killing yourself. Does that class as control? They are not stopping you from doing anything, the legislation is there for public health. Maybe you should argue that they are STOPPING you from killing people because of legislation.
