I'm starting with pic programming so this looks like a nice starting point for me while having a 6 hdd's of the same kind. First thing for me is to get the stepper motor running with a sync option. seen that u used a optical gate. Is it after that you let the led run on some time division or do you use it to control motor speed to get led in sync?
@whitesideskill not even close. That effect is made with LED light through a slit in the hard drive platter and a lot of electronics. There is one moving part, the hard drive platter, and it turns fast, just as it always has.
I don't understand how you guys are getting power to the led strip on the plate. is there a battery connected to the circuit on the plate, or are you using a slip ring
were do i find out how to do this

运行时的光闪现象是摄像后形成的,实际看到效果很好,没有任何不适。

How is the noise on this model compared to the other one? The DIY HDD that shows numbers instead of hands.
ronspeck 1 year ago
How did you make this?? Please reply!
LegoKid92 1 year ago
Why is it making noise?? Isnt it just a clock motor replacing the HDD one

I'm pretty sure that is a slit (cut in the plate) and the LEDs are beneath the plate.

that's an HDD with colors and a little digital clock underneath. I have seen HDD's in which the clock appears on the disc itself. Now THAT's cool!
Opelfreakie 2 years ago
lol dude... can't you see the clock on the disc?
DahKeyLogger 2 years ago
please do us a favor and educate yourself before you make naive comments. The HDD disk slit acts like a the hands of a clock. It's a POV effect.
