And This is a prefect website for all kinds of Accessories,if you have any interest, you can have a look

  • where do i begin to make one of these please ?

  • I'm starting with pic programming so this looks like a nice starting point for me while having a 6 hdd's of the same kind. First thing for me is to get the stepper motor running with a sync option. seen that u used a optical gate. Is it after that you let the led run on some time division or do you use it to control motor speed to get led in sync?

  • where can i get one?

  • 眼睛都要看花。。。

  • @k1868548

    运行时的光闪现象是摄像后形成的,实际看到效果很好,没有任何不适。

  • looks a little like the flux compensator

  • @Freizeitschranzer

    capacitor

  • the best hdd clock ever!!!!!!!

  • awesome job,

I'm going to try and build one myself.

where could i find the plans for the schematics, wiring and components that you used for this project.

    thanks a lot -Jcolefran

  • How is the noise on this model compared to the other one? The DIY HDD that shows numbers instead of hands.

  • How did you make this?? Please reply!

  • Why is it making noise?? Isnt it just a clock motor replacing the HDD one

  • @whitesideskill not even close. That effect is made with LED light through a slit in the hard drive platter and a lot of electronics. There is one moving part, the hard drive platter, and it turns fast, just as it always has.

  • Soo cool :)

  • 自作的硬盘时钟

  • Does anyone know a german instruction for those cool clocks?? :P

I have an old HDD laying around anywhere...

  • i have one of those dallas time thingis out of an old pentium 1 motherboard lol

  • music suck, clock's pretty good.

  • the leds are beneath the plate

  • I don't understand how you guys are getting power to the led strip on the plate. is there a battery connected to the circuit on the plate, or are you using a slip ring

  • I'm pretty sure that is a slit (cut in the plate) and the LEDs are beneath the plate.

  • Chinese Folk Songs :《The Shepherdess》

  • How to build? ^^

    i want it !!!!!1111eleven

  • Oh that's pretty. Well done indeed.

  • that's an HDD with colors and a little digital clock underneath. I have seen HDD's in which the clock appears on the disc itself. Now THAT's cool!

  • lol dude... can't you see the clock on the disc?

  • please do us a favor and educate yourself before you make naive comments. The HDD disk slit acts like a the hands of a clock. It's a POV effect.

  • can you put in to your computer or no i wanted one

  • Wow.... hmmm..... thats all

  • gratz, you made hackaday

  • cool..but, how much noise that it produce?

can you give disibel unit dB

fear that it sound like old hard disk..to noisy..

  • Noise is very low.

  • You can choose a hard drive of small noise, Or reduce the speed

  • i need to make one for school howd u do it

  • HOW DA FUK U MADE DAT LOL !!

  • That was a nicely executed project with lots of attention to details. I wish I had your skill set. :-)
