  • This is not her. Shes doesnt say " in this day this distant day"

  • Holy guacamole!!!

  • "...if you're wondering why it sounds good...?" Are you kidding me? I love the original Emmy Rossum' voice more than this one.

  • WHY ISNT THIS EMMY'S VOICE WHO IS IT?! i dont even think its Sarah Brightman

  • My high school did this play. AND IT WAS AWESOME!!

  • This isn't Christine's voice!Usuck Thumbs up if u agree >:(

  • WTF!!!! this is NOT Emmy's voice!!! >:(

  • oh my gosh!!!:O.!bravo!!:) beautiful voice!:)

  • For my untrained ear: I like Emmy´s singing. Gorgeous movie, Princess Sissi dress was lovely idea.

  • @CrimsonRoseOfDanube THAT said, I agree that Rebecca sounds good, and Schumacher and ALW were just obsessed to cast young and pretty "poppy" singer.

  • why dont you film yourself instead? well done

  • Rebecca Caine's voice seems like Carlotta's only much softer and far more suited to the song. I love this rendition!

  • true artistry !!!!!!!!!!!

  • That was dubbed extremely well. Nice

  • I luv the voice of him but i don't like the voice of her u.u

  • I was actually wondering why it sounded worse(: I love Emmy's voice for this song, it's not as strong as Caine's but a bit more delicate seems to fit the song much better. But to each his own(:

  • SOO much better!

  • EEEEE?

  • könnt ihr ma auf deutsch reden

  • I saw Rebecca Caine performing the role in Toronto opposite Colm Wilkinson. She's far and away the best Christine I have heard- she understudied Sarah Brightman in London, but it should have been the other way round. Thanks for recalling a great memory.

  • Wow, she's good. I still like Emmy's version though.

  • the most beautiful song(:

  • I love this song ! Phantom of the opera is brilliant !

  • BRAVO!! I was really impressed with the singer's voice, then I was like 'oh.. It's a different singer..' when I read the comments. Caine has got herself a new fan! <3

  • finde es toltal schön

  • You are stupid. SO stupid. I learned to love this song because of HER voice. Not this crap.

  • @Unperishable I get that Emmys voice made you love this song but Caine has a beautiful voice! I think that you look at other singers and try to find things you like about each of them Emmy is for sure NOT my favorite but she has a pretty and innocent sound to her, Caine I love her pure voice and I love Sierra Boggess for so many reasons. I think you should look for the beauty of each performer and not deprive yourself of seeing other great performers by limiting yourself to Emmy.

  • è stupendo......

  • Gerard all the way(:

  • very nice

  • MAN I love me some Gerard in this movie. :)

  • Byłem na tym ....cudownym spektaklu w teatrze w Warszawie.... Tak się zaczęła moja przygoda z wielką sztuką :)

  • i wanna watch phantom of the opera again.. i miss this!!!! soooooo much...

  • Their reactions make so much more sense here. I had never heard of Rebecca Caine, but she is absolutely phenomenal. Must find more. :)

  • @Kimpropriety She was the original Cosette in Les Miserables

  • 3:10 she just keeps on going........lungs of steal

  • thia is NOT her voice

  • She is only 18 here??? one word. Wow.

  • @MusiqueFille33 She was 17. The film was made in 2003 when she was 17.

  • ewwwwww why would you replace emmy?

  • Who is this singer? And why would you ever, ever replace Emmy with someone like this? :(

  • some how this sound different from the movie different singer?

  • Rebecca Caine IS Christine. When I bought the Canadian Cast Recording, I was blown away by her voice. Emmy has a pretty voice & should have had more training. The actress playing Christine SHOULD be believable. She is taking over for the female lead in an opera & should sound like an opera singer. She is in fact The Prima Donna during that opera. Emmy is good BUT she didn't convince me that she could take Carlotta's place. I think she should redub this later on after more training.

  • uh, anyone else notice this ISNT emmy rossum..

  • Holy crap, does this woman even need to breathe?

  • I hate this -_- I like her REAL voice.

  • I love the part where it goes down in the vent and through the small crack in the stone floor as the phantom stops dead in his tracks, instantly in LOVE with her!

  • is she Emme Watson???

    the gal is so pretty

  • GOOD LAWD CHILDDD!

  • We're learning to sing this & the other songs in choir. It's so pretty to perform w/ my friends, maybe I'll download it too. :)

  • I like much more singing of Emmy Rossum, it's so more natural and pure!

  • I listen to this all the time, thank you so much for uploading it!

  • Aaaaah, Rebecca Caine's voice never fails to make me swoon. :)

  • -333

  • well, i definitely like the singing better, i was also missing the strength and warmth in emmys voice, but i prefer the eding of the song in the movie! but anyhow love it!

  • The original song is better. :P

  • What year was this phantom of the opera made

  • That, ladies and gentleman, is how to sing Think of Me.

  • i love the movie so much.i think that both emmy and gerard are great.love them <3

  • Emmy rossum was born in 1986, so she wasn't 16 but 18 when this film was made (which was in 2004). But it's true that she just looks gorgeous :)

  • @archivbox1 Well technically it was released in 2004, but she was 16 when she auditioned for the role in 2003 (her birthday is late in the year and she was cast by June) and 17 for the duration of shooting. So in this video she is 17.

  • @archivbox1 It was filmed in 2003 and released in 2004. In other words, she was 17 in this clip you're watching.

  • @archivbox1 more like 17 but its ok

  • I didnt read the title and went right to the video, wow hard to tell but thought it sounded different, then saw description lol

  • Beautiful voice.

  • I looove this movie soo much. and this song is just AMAZING! thank you, rebecca for your wonderful voice (best version)!

  • This is gorgeous <3 Emmy did well for not being trained, so it's not her fault...The directors should have chosen someone who was well-trained. Must say though, I think Claire Moore edges Rebecca out by a hair ;) Just my opinion.

  • to @AcelNarcisse emmy did great nobdy needs to take her place you try to do it i sing opera also its hard

  • D:

    FAIL. :'(

  • This is not Emmy's voice...

  • @xMissRadcliffe read the describtion ;) it's rebecca caine <3 :)

  • I don't like this version... :(

  • loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • who does the voice of raoul?

  • I love the singing! It's a-w-e-s-o-m-e!

  • This makes me think that Emmy really ought to do a redub of Think of Me for the 10th anniversary 3d Blu Ray or whatever. It is her worst song on the soundtrack and I imagine that since she's had more singing experience and put out a couple of records, she might be able to do a decent take - with maybe a real cadenza?

  • haha Raoul's voice!! It's amazing voice but when dubbed to film version it doesn't match Patrick's look at all.

  • omg awesome synchronising job!!

  • sie sieht aus wie Kaiserin Sissi auf dem berühmten Bild

  • OH MY GOD THE AGONY OF WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN!!!!!! The thing is, if she had just had another year or two of training and they had waited to make the film, she probably would have sounded much more like this. OH MY GOD THE CADENZA.

  • Whoa I had pretty much forgotten I had this up. Just want to thank everyone for the fun discussions and I want to throw in my 2 cents. For the record, I don't hate Emmy, I just much prefer Rebecca (to me she is THE Christine). Emmy's fine, though she lacks the warmth and power that I am accustomed to having grown up on Caine. Sometimes I want to hear Emmy, but I NEVER want to hear Gerard-- whole other discussion,I know, but I can't stand him. Perhaps I smell a Colm Wilkinson dub in the future...

  • @joebuttonman Please, I am begging you to do a Colm dub!

  • ok, most of you people are on crack, Emmy Rossum has a beautiful voice and this song is better sang by a soprano, not an alto.

  • @newgrl101

Since when is Rebecca Caine classified as an alto?

  • Comment removed

  • Emmy is awesome :P People it was casted with Emmy as Christina. get over it already :P

  • Rebecca Caine - now that's what a Christine should sound like, not Possum here. I'm growing to dislike the movie more and more due to the fact that her acting and singing are not up to par. yes, she was 17 when the movie was filmed, and it's not her fault. I hold the casting director fully responsible.

  • Haaaaahhhh....I always laugh when Raul sings, "Can it be? Can it be Christine!?" and runs away. Ever since I was little...good times.

  • It annoyes me that the long "of" in the end isn't the same as I remember it so there was no nostagia when hearing this song ! :(

  • I'm sorry, but I think you kind of need to get over yourself...

  • I love Emmy and she isn't singing the right words god!!

  • @izdun11 Excuse me? The right words? The lyrics were changed a LONG time ago. It's the film that used the original lyrics and not the ones currently used in stage shows. And I like Emmy, but Rebecca Caine is far, far better.

  • Yes, Rebecca's voice is amazing. But no need to dish on Emmy. She's amazing.

  • I scrolled down the page and listen without watching. I realized that what I like about this song is Emmy's performance, her acting, her eyes while singing, which are really incredible. You replace her voice with someone else, that's the problem.

  • i want christine's haire with starts on my wedding night!!!

  • You have to remember that musicals made into movies are changed and cast to appeal to a broader audience than those who frequent live performances with trained performers. The casting director may have cast Rossum because she had a prettier face, looked the right age, negotiated the lowest salary, had the right schedule to do the film, was generally more pleasant to work with, or pressures from executives could have forced the casting. Movies are about collecting money, not showcasing skill

  • GOOSEBOMBS!

  • Fucking cocky huh? Glad I'm not the only one who thinks so, u r great without a doubt, maybe ur diction wasn't a 100 per cent clear all the time but yes u r good, but ur attitude isn't quite comparable

  • I love love love that dress

  • Five people don't like this...

  • I love her voice, she´s such a good singer.

  • hey. i like emmy very much, i love her voice. her version and the german are my favorites

  • um, excuse me, but Emmy did a fantastic job. how dare you even think she did anything less than play her role PERFECTLY. She was supposed to sound a bit inexperienced. A bit differently than every other opera singer in the world. A unique voice. Her voice is beautiful and she DID have training in opera. Yeah this chick is ok but shes overdoing it BIG time. This is supposed to be a very gentle, sweet song. Not all loud and obnoxious. Emmy is better. And the casting was absolutely perfect.

  • @yoyoitsme555

    no need to get cocky. Emmy has a beautiful voice, but she does not sing opera. sure, she may have had some opera training, but that, my friend does not mean she sings opera well. Rebbecca Caine was on Broadway for this musical && on the original Canadian cast recording. i imagine, if she was overdoing it BIG time, Andrew Lloyd Webber would have never picked her, but he did. are you questioning the judgment of the man who wrote this spectacular piece of music? i hope not. (;

  • i like Emmy better, every female opera singer sounds the same and none of them are any diffrent .Emmy did good cuz her voice seemed softer

  • Love rebecca Caine!!! one of the best voices I´ve heard for christine! and yes I agree with rettophantom!!!

  • I don't agree with the Emmy bashing. Her voice isn't operatic, true, but it's still beautiful in its own right. I love both Rebbeca's and Emmy's voices--they're each gorgeous in their own way.

  • In my opinion, Emmy did very well job. Remember, that in the story of the Phantom of the Opera, Christine was a young singer. She was still learning how to be an opera singer. If you want to hear an opera, you can listen to Carlotta for example (I mean an opera singer in PotO).

  • I don't think Emmy did an "OK" job...

    I was taken away...

She was the perfect choice for sth like this...

With a pure voice, a sweet face, acting with nothing else but her heart...

I think everyone who was ever connected to the phantom of the opera in any way, should be proud that Christine was played by such a talented young lady...

And I 'd like to add that I've seen 2 Christine aside Emmy, and no one was even close!

There's nothing else to say or do, but applaud!

  • very different as german singer :S but very nice :D

  • EMMY IS AMAZING AND REALLY TALENTED!!! love her voice <3

  • Emmy has a nice non-operatic mezzo voice, I'm not denying that. But the part of Christine requires a light lyric soprano like Rebecca. I wish the whole movie could have been like this video.

  • @EponineJondrette Rebecca is a full lyric soprano, not a light lyric.

  • @PhanPhanPhanPhanPhan You're right, she is now. But she sounded a lot lighter when she played Christine (to me, anyway) but I can't really claim to be an expert.

  • @EponineJondrette She sounded lighter in her Cosette days, but if you want to listen to true light lyric sopranos, look up Robyn North, Katie Hall, Leanne Dobinson or Gina Beck.

  • Gosh I've been listening to this over and over, wondering why does it sound way better than in the movie - and today I finally found out ;) The singer here has an amazing voice, well, Amy is talented too, but she's not a good opera singer. To me the best Christine was Siera Boggess.

  • I think Emmy was phenomenal. So, your argument is invalid.

  • I listened to Rebecca once and went, "Sarah who?" And I love Sarah B. but not as Christine. It's funny too since the songs were written with her voice in mind. Huh.

  • I Like Emmy A LOT Better :)

    Emmy Is AMAZING<3

  • Whenever I see Madame Giry (Miranda Richardson) now, I think of her as Lady Van Tassel in Sleepy Hollow. (I recommend that movie to all horror/Tim Burton/Johnny Depp/Christopher Walken lovers.) LOL =D

  • I have to sing this in my singing classes.

    Oh my goodness.

  • When I think Phantom Of the Opera I think Rebecca Caine. She is the voice of the whole thing for me. Sounds great! Thank you!

  • wow this sounds great but i still think i like movie christie better for part.... but she wins for the singing!!!

  • Oh...my God!! I LOVE HER!!!

  • Wow! It sounds so much better, but that goes without saying.

Rebecca = best Christine of all time

  • OMG!!!! By far, THE best. That was the ABSOLUTE BEST cadenza I have ever heard for Think of Me!!!!!!!

  • I have the soundtrack with Rebecca Caine, and I have to agree--she is fantastic! She has that richness and fullness of voice that Emmy Rossum does not have. She does that incredibly tricky slide at the end and you can believe that she could beat Carlotta. In the original version, Carlotta and Christine are competing against each other, instead of Carlotta being the comic relief. Thank you for creating this video!

  • Well, I will say this in Emmy defense, I really liked her. She looked the part and since this is a movie, suspension of disbelief came into play and for me, her voice is rather pleasant and at times did reach moments of beauty.

However, having heard Rebecca Caine dubbed, what can I saw other than...spectacular, brilliant and Caine's voice is one where suspension of disbelief NEVER comes into play. With that voice, you can clearly believe that Christine has dethrowned Carlotta.

  • Rebecca Caine dubbed into this movie (which, to be charitable, is not my favourite version). BRILLIANT!! 5 stars

  • i have to say i think of all the christines rebecca caine had the prettiest and yet most powerful...next to sarah brightman of course

  • yeah, hearing this takes me back to my childhood when I used to listen to this versions all the time... what a fantastic voice, which we`re lucky to hear

  • Could not have said it better... Rebecca was unbelievable in the role... I have to wonder if Brightman ever listened to the Canadian cast recording... I can see Sarah saying " Someone run that girl out of town..." LOL..

  • That's exactly the problem! People say "Emmy did well considering she isn't an opera singer", but I don't want someone who did an okay job, I want to see a talented performer! You are completely right; the casting directors for this movie were on crack.

  • well on the one hand i entrily agree with you, but on the other, the film was made for a the mass market and the mass market dos'nt like opera they like pop, so i can understand why they would have cast her,and her voice is on more of the classical side of pop,and she's very pretty aswell, but i have a promblem in generla with the casting for phantom, even the show, they keep casting mt singers and it's not a score thats supposed to belted at all, bring back singers like Rebecca thats what i say

  • @rettophantom Actually, Emmy was part of an opera company for a while.

  • @videorocker778 She was part of a Children's Chorus, admittedly it was at the Met, which is impressive for a 7 year old, but that hardly makes you a professional opera singer. Being an Opera soprano takes years of dedication to learning very difficult technique. Years that Emmy unfortunately did not put in. But thanks.

  • @rettophantom You're welcome. But it's really effort that counts, right? And in the film, Emmy DEFINITELY made the effort.

  • @rettophantom im sure in the extra's on the dvd they said that Emmy was 7 years old when she joined a royal opera house or something like that in Americaaa ? :s

  • @rettophantom Well I don't know. I like her way of singing. It may not fit an opera singer but it (imho) fits VERY well with the role. It was fantastic and beautiful imo.

  • @rettophantom omg.... I thought it was a pretty good cast.

  • @rettophantom actually, Andrew Lloyd Weber cast Emmy Rossum in this role... I do agree however that he could have found someone with a stronger voice, but I like the fact that Emmy was so young. I mean, Christine is a bit naive, so I think it works to have someone youthful in the role.

  • @littellotte But the way the person look and how old they are means a great deal to

  • BETTER THAN EMMY!!!

  • PERFECTION! rebecca...im stelin your cadenza for voice class kay bye! xD she is amazing i love her

  • I think Emmy Rossum has a pretty voice, however, for this role, I don't think it works. Rebecca Caine sounds fantastic! She has such a powerful voice! Thanks for posting!
