@legallucy Yes he was. Much of John Williams' film scores in the 70s-90s especially was neo-Romantic and as you probably know Vaughn Williams was a product of the late Romantic era.

@danabonstrom Huh? I currently sing w/the ASO Chorus and Chamber Chorus (12+ years) and I can *assure* you in the strongest of terms that Robert Spano is held in the highest regard as a phenomenal conductor and person. What is the source of your anger? He is brilliant, easy to work with, and feels music deeply. That is why the ASO and Chorus has continued to win Grammys under his leadership.
@kkellygeorge Did you happen to go to NYC to sing the Berlioz Requiem? I was there with my high school! I love Norman, Spano, and Todd. What an unforgettable experience. I also got my Robert Shaw Reader in the mail today :)
@Tan1723 I was at Carnegie in February for the Choral Workshop. The Berlioz is killer in terms of the tessitura for sopranos. It's like vocal gymnastics in some places. I thought it came together really well. What part did you sing and from where did you travel?
@kkellygeorge I was a bass from the choir from Raleigh, NC. I have a Music audition on Monday August 22nd to get into the school of music at my college.
This is so BRILLIANT! I'm singing this with my choir- our concert is in December- can't wait!

@zenoky2000 Donna Carter. Beautiful voice, also has dead-on perfect pitch. Also a sweetheart. Rare find.

@zenoky2000 She is Donna Carter-Wood from Atlanta. She is a wonderful person and has one of the most beautiful voices you will ever hear.

he's just mad because he's not in ASO. Jeff and Norman didn't like his audition...

Was John Williams at all influenced by RWV? Sounds like a silly statement... but I hear a lot of the Harry Potter soundtrack in this.

I enjoyed tremendously when Maestro Shaw came to Toronto in the 1980's and 1990's. Performances of the Great Mass (Mozart) and the Missa Solemnis are
still fresh in my memory.
Thanks for this. I sang in the Sea Symphony in Toronto. Vaughan Williams is
a bit underrated. His Seranade to Music and Mass are fine.
