  • "We make our world significant by the courage of or questions and the depths of our answers".

  • The sky calls to us. If we do not destroy ourselves, we will one day venture to the stars.

  • Is this Cosmos?

  • i really need the subtitle so badly! :((

  • kinda ironic but there's an ad titled "Help Rick Santorum win the Republican Nomination for President" next to this video lol

  • This brilliant amazingly informative, entertaining, and endearing

  • EVE Online!

  • Every time I see an insect or the moon, religion gets owned

  • @StacksNyc80 how so? don,t you know god made everything? not sure which one though.

  • Love that ending. Beyond the petty issues we bicker over today, there is something so much greater to look forward to.

  • This is so awesome that I even get chills.

  • I love these videos. When I stare at the starclouds of the Summer milky way, I often wonder how many more are staring back at me.

  • One dude was surfing with his monitor upsidedown.

  • Lol ONE dislike

  • @breathebliss One person is too afraid of the night.

  • what,s gone wrong with the person who dislikes this?

  • lol, eve online at the ending :D

  • Enjoying vid... Enjoying vid... Enjoying vid... Calm relaxed... EVE: Online!? I thought I escaped you! Get away from my Carl Sagan! :)

  • Guys...

Do not take this in a sense that its science vs religion because then we start from square one again...

The problem is the people who take religion to another level, more extreme, you can be religious and still have a positive understanding of, science, the cosmos, etc... Trying to get people to do so is the challenge...

But how I wish the whole world would see Carl's videos and understand what precautions he is speaking out : /

  • @ThePhilMaester Right on.

  • 7:14 is the death star.

  • This is beyond legendary..

  • I wonder what it was like to smoke a Joint with Professor Sagan?

  • carl sagan pretty much owned religion in this one

  • When we see the Milkey Way from earth, are we looking into it's centre or is that one of the spiral arms, always wondered, cheers !.

  • @N4SONIC We live in the Spiral Arm of the Milky Way. It is been told that the center of the Milky Way is a black hole.. But yes, you are seeing the Spiral Arm of the Milky Way. :)

  • last night, I finally saw the milky-way for the first time, it was amazing to see it, I was in the everglades, it was beautiful, Hurricane Irene took the moister that normally makes the nights stormy here, so the whole sky was clear, I had my phone one with this video playing from it, looking up at the milky way, with the words of carl sagan, it was euphoric and perfect

  • 5:09 onwards gets me every. single. time. :')

  • Such an amazing Video!, Well done. Im going to cherish these whilst i can. Thank you Callum. :)

  • Whoever disliked this is a turd.

  • It makes me sad, that in the 21 years of life I have lived on this planet, I have never seen the milke\y way in the night sky, I live in a suburban area, in a strip of cities in florida, its hard to go to place, dark enough to see the natural beauty of the cosmos, I tired 3 nights ago, but thunderstorms blocked the milky way from my sites, now I have to wait another month before I can go to that dark spot again, because of the high gas prices.

  • @Akirameerkat iv'e once, a week end of while i was 17 teen, went to camp in a chalet in the woods up north in Quebec(Canada)...and was AMAZED by how beautiful the night sky without any light pollution... I'm so sad to see that kids in cities doesn't have a clue about what they are missing!

  • @Akirameerkat I live in florida but every night, its just thunderstorms, I can only go to a dark spot once a month, because of the price of gas, there are dark spots in the everglades, but its a 100 miles from my home, but august 26 I will try to see it, I have still never seen the milky way because in the everglades during the summer it is very stormy.

  • I don't like to watch these at the end of a stressful day. Makes me think too much. Excellent vidoes!!!

  • i now know that only pop music videos can exceed 100 million views. this world do not belong to us thinkers, scientist. for we search for meanings beyond scopes of fame, fortune, wealth, material, and relationship.

  • @XTruth

Or.. perhaps the world is wasted on those people who only care about glue and glitter, about rebecca black and justin bieber.

  • @XTruth Glad somebody noticed!

  • @XTruth thank you! finally someone understands.....

  • @XTruth I dont want to live on this planet anymore

  • @XTruth unfortunatley this doesnt make money . its all about money . id love to see these even as smaller as adverts, it would bring everyone together and aim for a goal . Rather than being brainwashed. We need to explore. We must explore .

  • @XTruth start getting chicks pregnant all the time and we'll out number them

  • Nothing makes me feel better than hearing Carl's voice. How trivial my day to day worries seem when I contemplate the complexity and vastness of space.

  • lol little clip of eve online at the end :D

  • now, tell me that they preserved his brain!!

  • brings tears to your eyes.

  • Callum, I have been watching your tribute series this far and plan to continue watching it. Rarely is the message and majesty of Carl Sagan captured so superbly. The world needs more people like him, and more people like you.

  • What a great man! Thank you callum for posting these! they are truly amazing :)

  • Eve Online at 7:00 Holla!!!!

  • @percival132

and that right there is why eve online is an awesome, awesome game.

  • Everyone please share these videos with everyone you know.

If we can hit a critical mass of people, perhaps the worldwide military budget can be transferred over to space research if we demand it.

We need to move beyond nationalism and war, the lives of our children hang by a thread.

  • Is there any hope left for us? I hope so. But when will we change the direction we are heading?

  • i love your videos , and i love sagan and people like him

  • One day humanity will stop searching for ways in which we can destroy each other. That day we shall awaken as children from a sleep and find our place in the stars.

  • "If we do not destroy ourselves, we will one day venture to the stars".....That`s a big IF Carl, and since you've died 15 years ago, that IF has become even bigger....you would be disappointed Carl if you saw that we have not changed our direction in the 15 years since your passing......it's actually gotten worse :(

  • Wonderful work, Callum.

    Thanks for the opportunity.

  • These Carl Sagan videos average around the 25 000 views mark, yet videos like Rebecca Blacks "Friday" is nearing the 160 million mark ..., sometimes i think i was born in the wrong Time, Solar System or Galaxy. We are indeed the "planet of the idiots".

  • @N4SONIC I was just about to write the same thing.

  • Thanks a lot, man. Thanks to Carl, and others I'm now pursuing a career in Cognitive Neuroscience. If it hadn't been for him I would never even know the word "cosmos", never mind it's profound and full meaning! Thanks again; it means a lot to me that people like you are sharing Carl's words with the world.

  • thank you callum; this is great work :D

  • Never understood the awesomeness that is Carl Sagan; but you helped me find him. Thanks Callum :)

  • and I grew up watching and listening to Carl Sagan, was certainly the inspiration for a whole generation, the generation of scientists ... I applaud what you do is a hobor see and feel strongly the message of these videos ...

  • If a mind that is stretched to a new idea never returns to its original dimensions then Carl Sagan turns my brain into double bubble

  • Thank you so much for putting these together. I'm going through your series right now and really enjoying it.

  • carl sagan is the morgan freeman of science

  • the lost soundtrack goes amazingly with these videos.

  • Is that final spaceship scene a scene from EVE Online? It looks a lot like it :P

Either way Amazing videos. Thanks so much for them. May Mr. Sagan rest in peace where ever he may be.

  • @dexluther Yeah just noticed it too

  • I hope that within our species there will be another great mind like Carl's

  • @quietjedi1010101 Why hope? Be the next Carl Sagan.. but in your own way :)

  • @JayDee98765 Your right! thumbs up my friend.

  • @quietjedi1010101 Good man!

  • was this on TV? if not then why it is very good.

  • That's 20 thousand views without a single dislike.

    That is pretty impressive.

  • @shaedies lol you forgot to knock on wood

  • we have stagnated on this planet, i agree.. but man, when will people as a whole realise... thats our greatest issue at the moment..

  • no wonder he was loved by so many,s

no wonder he was loved by so many ,

    l

  • i love the induction of the EVE vid at the end, that made my day!

  • Every time I look at the night sky I don't see thousands of lights I see roaring suns and then I think of Carl Sagan.

  • Always love to see Eve footage in these types of videos.

  • Carol Sagan is my priest

  • @vdubs4life1964 lol carl sagan is your priest? except he wont rape you.

  • to the creator of this series, thanks very much, tell me what is the name of the music used in most of part 4?

    Thanks

  • to the creator of this series, thanks very much, tell me what is the name of the music used in most of part 5?

    Thanks

  • brilliant videos

  • The Music and Imagery compliment Sagans poetic words fantastically. Absolutely beautiful. I hope more people see this. Its astounding.

  • I miss Carl Sagan as much as family members who have died. This takes me back many years, to when I was a child who watched and listened to him.

  • This is amazing.

  • This is so nice, I want to travel out in space when I see this. Thank you Callum! subscribed

  • These videos are so amazing.

  • Really liking the videos. The only problems is the music is too loud at some points that I cannot hear Carl talking.

  • it looks like no religious fundamentalist has watched this clip yet. 0 dislikes so far!

  • @itsmefatamorgana I watched it. I like it. I personally find Carl inspiring. Could be because I'm so open to other ideas and personally believe that most every belief is a possible answer, or it could be because I'm on the verge of nihilism. Either way, I find his words to be very influential, and I don't deny his intellect.

  • @ChaoticHypocracy i wonder if you've seen this quote from Sagan? it says it all so beautifully: "The idea that God is an oversized white male with a flowing beard, who sits in the sky and tallies the fall of every sparrow is ludicrous. But if by 'God,' one means the set of physical laws that govern the universe, then clearly there is such a God. This God is emotionally unsatisfying... it does not make much sense to pray to the law of gravity."

  • @itsmefatamorgana No duh I've heard it, and it sounds like you're attacking what I believe in. I've heard it before, and, yes, I also find the idea of a humanoid God idiotic, as He is stated to be a metaphysical, formless spirit. However, Sagan also stated that the only way to disprove the existence of ANY possible creator being would be to prove that the universe is infinitely old.

  • @ChaoticHypocracy: Nice point. Unfortunately, your point has no substantiation. No one can disprove leprechauns or ice giants either. But notice how no one ever postulates this, no one ever goes out of their way to rhapsodize such nonsense, and no one especially ever incessantly clings to these notions as if the fact that they are disprovable is somehow a vindicating factor.

  • @MarvelsofaLifetime I wonder why you instantly tried to attack what I believe in, even though my comment was initially to point out your obvious stereotyping of a particular group. Human intellect is severely limited, and we glorify ourselves and our knowledge to an extreme level. Even with my beliefs, I'm willing to admit I may be wrong, because we don't know enough to say definitively how anything truly works. Our descendants will think fools of us, and theirs of them. An endless progression.

  • This was the best video ever to come across when your High!!

Will definitely be tuning in again.

  • Thanks for this. Love it.

  • Simply stunning. Such a wonderful mix of ideas, music and images. I have watched and rewatched all of the videos in this series, but this one is such a perfect concentration of everything I love about Carl Sagan.

Thank you so much, Callum. It's clear that a great deal of work has gone into this series, and it is so much appreciated

  • AMAZING....

  • These are amazing, Sagan was one of the most amazing scientific philosophers in human history.

  • Thank you so much for all of those videos, they really inspiring i really hope more and more people get to see it. Keep up the great work.

  • Thanks for this. I didn't know you had made a new one, this was the best Xmas gift I could have asked for.

  • callum, your tributes are almost as emotionally evoking as the words of mr.sagan himself. I honestly believe them to be a testament to the true power of social media. Let us never lose it.

  • Absolutely fantastic work.

  • really nice tribute! thanks!

  • Carl Sagen was a hero, and his positivism rub off on you.

Personally I think its hundreds of years until we really start putting resources into space exploration. We got a long dark period infront of us, with severe overpopulation, drainage of natural resources and collapsing economic systems. Science is still a child, but we all share Sagens visions, and hopefully humanity have the ability to mature into what it need to be to make them true.

  • @1TtidnaB change the economic system, so the natural resources can be spent intelligently, and once we break the chains from the profit system we can build on the ocean, underground, or high up to banish overpopulation for a while.

  • this is fantastic work brother!.....keep up the good work....cheers from India....

  • Thank you for making these, keep them coming

  • Watching Sagan trying to gently nudge us away from mythology and into science reminded me of an interview I listened to recently on NPR's Forum, hosted by Michael Krasny on KQED. He was interviewing Salmon Rushdie. Rushdie reminded us that Greek and Roman mythology as we know it were actually the Greek and Roman religions of their times. It was only as we learned more about our world, the universe and our place in it that those religions slid into myth. Carl eloquently fought the good fight.

  • Keep 'em coming, Calium. These videos are perfect for showing people whose minds might be closed off by religion. It's not an attack, but a compelling and hopeful case to leave behind those dogmas, and replace them with an understanding of our place in the universe and how we're all in this together, pulling for the home team--planet earth.

"For small creatures such as we, the vastness is only bearable through love." --Carl Sagan

  • Callum, you are awesome making these vids! Thank you!

    lol sweet. eve online!

  • " Cosmology brings us face to face with God", Sagan.

Pick up any religion there ever was on the planet, they always attribute their Gods to the heavens because they didn't know anything about it which alone is suffice to prove that all religions are man made. I'm glad I live in this amazing era of space explorations where nobody can attribute their Gods to the sky anymore.

  • i love that there are people out there who make these sorts of things. :-)

  • i want to thank you for making these vids. i just watched all five and they are amazing to say the least

  • absolutely beautiful

  • Carl Sagan was an ambassador and a prophet of the human species – we need fewer clergies and religious representatives, and more people like him.

  • Another fantastic video, Callum. Thank you for making these.

    We all miss you, Carl.
