Just came back from camping at Jamaica State Park for the week. Was considering canceling but visited the Vermont Official website and the Governor said not to cancel vacation plans as so many depend on the tourist dollars. So we cam and I am glad we did. Was heartbreaking to see all the devastation but heartwarming to see how the community pulled together and worked together. They built a road there in 2 days that would take the area I'm from 10 years to decide on and build. Way to go Jamaica.
oliverolsenvt, is it alright if i use your video for a history project that portrays the damage done to Vermont transportation due to Hurricane Irene?
Rep. Olsen: Any word on Carl and Eric Crowninshield? Thanks for all that you're doing to keep everyone informed and safe. My father's a Jamaica boy and we can't wait to get back to town -- once you're ready, of course -- and help it get back on its feet.
@ILIKESOUND0 Is your grandmother Toni Bement? If you're in touch with her, please let her know that Doug (Wallace's grandson) and his daughter Ashley (me) have been thinking about your family so much and hoping that everything is okay. If there is any way at all that we can help, please let us know. I don't know if the house is still there, but we would be honored to help your grandparents get back on their feet either way.
We just sold our house in Jamaica but our hearts still live there! We are heartbroken but so proud to see the crews of volunteers working so hard to keep things together. No waitin on Fema for Vermonters! Hope Tom and Nancy and Elwood are ok and that everyone on Pikes Falls and West Jamaica road came through safely.
My name is Jamie Bischof and I am a resident of Jamaica. I was out of town and unable to get footage of the flooding. I am making a small documentary short project to help aid in fundraising for my friends who lost their home on back street. I would love to use your footage. You will be credited. Please let me know if this would work for you. You can email me at dynastartm@hotmail.com
I have seen Beverly Landman, she is fine. She was with the Clarks. I have not heard about your folks, but you can call the Three Mountain Inn --that's the staging area for all emergency workers. They will help you get in touch with your folks.
In response to billieo16: Many folks who live along the river were evacuated at 9 am sunday morning. They are all apparently accounted for. I have friends in Jamaica who say to call Jamaica Market for info regarding your folks whereabouts 802 874 4151
I am so saddened to see this video....Our family has been coming to Jamaica for 43 years and I have never seen the river do this much damage. My heart goes out to all the people who have lost their homes...
This is so heartbreaking to see my hometown suffer so much damage! Is everyone ok? What about Beverly Landman-so close to her house? Has anyone heard from my folks (Clara and Harry Robinson)-I can't get in touch with them due to the power outages so if anyone sees them-can you please post on here so I know they're all right? Keeping all of Jamaica and the rest of VT in my prayers!
