I thought Sunny is in TN. I miss that Horse so bad. We got along grate. He was my horse the last 2-3 months before it closed down. I was really working on him. He was starting to look a lot better. He was dropping weight and had sores on him. My poor Sunny Bear. I hope they are taking good care of him. I would have tried to buy him if I knew that I was able to at the time.
@RazZ611 I'm not sure where he is now. It's a shame that he didn't go up for auction. But from what I know of the horses that did go up for auction after they closed, they were bought to resell quickly. Yeah Sunny was horribly barn sour. He used to be the host horse in Orlando, and then they got Athena. Where ever they have him now, I hope they don't over work him because he's had one to many leg flare ups to remain sound for the rest of his life. He was one of my favorites.
I recived an email for Hugh! And he said the horses were in top shape! And i do relize that horses do die maybe thats what happend to the horse! And if i know Hugh he wouldnt work at a place that treated animal such! He said some people tried to make the company look bad!
Yes i know a few horses from orlando that are at other dixies! Like trouble and amy! But the last time i saw trouble he looked in great condition! I never been to the one in FL but i have resources!
Yeah aside from Athena, Amy was the only other mare there. Quite a tease. The assistant barn manager rode her, so I'm not sure if they went some where together or not. For his name, Trouble was really laid back, not really rememberable but I have photos of all of them. We had two saddlebreds, that the head guy from TN used to give us grief for putting them outside. Saying Saddlebreds don't go outside. We were the only DS to have pasture land as well. Now none do (unless something changed).
@Burakkubara I think Myrtle Beach does! If they do im not sure it is as big as the one orlando used to have! I know the rider that rode amy,her name was jaymee! Amys in Branson! Troubles in TN! Im wating on an important email for some anwers of the one in FL! And i think branson has some pasture land! Im sorry you had to see what you saw! How would the gut in Tn know about yall putting the saddlebreds outside?
Corporate guys come down to check the place out ever so often. No idea who they were, we're just treated like labor and it was a don't ask don't tell kind of business. There was a Palomino named Sunny, used to be the hosts horse before we got Athena. If you know where he went, that would be great to find out. I know the drafts got auctioned off, then resold them. The drafts and Sunny were my buddies. I think I was one of the few Athena didn't try to kill that made me feel loved <3
@Burakkubara I know where he is! Sunny is in branson! I think hes the host horse now! Do you have a myspace? I have some good pics of Branson uploaded!
@marysharp9 *squeals* Sunny! I hope he's better up there. He was quite barn soured here, and developed a horrible stall kicking here and went lame a number of times. I think I do...I haven't used it in ages tho.
@marysharp9 Yeah. Coliced and cast himself I believe. From what I understand the night stable hand didn't know what was what, and the body had to be dragged out the barn because there is only one exit. When I was there, they had the janitor as the overnight stable hand. I came in many mornings to one of the halflingers loose in the barn isle. When DS closed, some horses went to other DS, but I know a few were auctioned off from a Florida horse forum.
Yes that was him! Im friends with him! ILL listen to his story! And if it happends that you are right Ill make sure he gets a crtain message! But thanks for the video!
It doesn't really matter either way. When I started there, it was the basic stuff. Horses loosing hair because they weren't washed. Some got white hoof. DS hired an idiot for the night shift and a draft coliced a died. Horses shipped to us with untreated wounds from other DS locations. Then one rider spurred wounds into a slow horse. The spurs they use there are rounded and need some force behind them to cause injuries. Then there are the ostriches. Everything was photo documented and reported.
@marysharp9 I haven't worked there in a couple of years. It was the summer before they closed DS. If he was the guy that rides Athena (the White mare) I saw him around, but I worked the Day shift and what out of there usually around 3pm.
@marysharp9 Seeing as you wish to spam my, I guess I will reply. I figured you got the message when I didn't respond to your message nine months ago.
Not every DS operates the same way. And not all riders were abusive. Some where, and others were just ignorant of horse needs. After all these people are hired as models, it doesnt matter if they ride. I have a number of examples I can pull from, but I only have so much space to write.
If your an animal lover, it's not a great place to work. This kind of environment is very different then your typical show barn, or horse barn for that matter. The horses are work animals, and not treated like pets.
