  • whats up with the weird chinese background music??? this is Korean food...plus the sam jang at the end doesn't look like real korean sam jang and we don't use that kind of lettuce...altho it is possible to eat it that way, sam jang and lettuce is usually for samgyupsal...

  • ooooo the secret to really tender succulent galbi is to add some cocacola to it!!

    its amazing

  • oppa!! i want kalbi!

  • I am marinating my meat as I type this I can't wait to grill it tomorrow for my family :) thanx for the recipe.

  • I just tried this yesterday and trust me, everyone loved it so much that by the time I finished bbq'ing, it was all gone!!

    Amazing!!!

  • That's a lot of pepper! Looks so delicious!!! Want it now! <3

  • you should add some K-Pop songs XD

  • @YJSui Can you send a link to a song that you like?

  • @holidaykitchen i was just joking =)

  • they look like streaky bacon.

  • you can also use a meat tenderizer too if the meat is a little tough or isn't absorbing the marinade to your desire.

  • i know how to make kalbi. oyster honey and worcestershire

  • This made me hungry.

  • the background music is chinese =_=

  • CALBEE POTATO CHIPS :D

  • you must add fresh pear juice in order to tenderize the beef as well as add an subtle and elegant sweet flavor into the meat. less sugar.

  • No ginger?

  • It's not hot sauce, it's called ssamjang, and you also put a piece of sliced garlic in the ssam.

  • I hardly ever give thumbs down on videos but there are so many things wrong with this...

  • i love galbi..........<33

  • lol i love how she pronounces it :P

  • droooool

  • also adding about 1/8 cup of coke helps tenderize the meat =)

  • @RosellaRo really? coke? as in soda pop?

  • yes, or sprite, but coke tends to work better for me...although sprite is the healthier option, only if its caffeine free

the fizzy stuff tenders the meat...you know, how ppl use wine in steak? the same here =)

  • @RosellaRo cool thanks man BTW its short ribe right? is there another name for the kind of rib to make this? so I could ask the meat market? and what is the name of the hotsauce you put inj the kalbi? is it only in Korean stores?

  • @APINEDO69 if you go to an asian supermarket, they should have ribs cut in this style. im not sure about chinese markets but korean markets have them for sure. the "hot sauce" is wrong. traditionally, its seasoned soybean paste. you can season it at home mixing soy bean paste with gochugaru or crushed pepper powder, minced garlic, toasted sesamed seeds, and sesame oil...if not, they sell seasoned soybean paste at the supermarket...

  • i also use crushed/minced/diced or whatever kiwi cuz it adds a lot of flavor

  • thats what my korean gf does with alot of beef dishes

  • they do not know how to pronounce it xPPP

  • :DD i love galbi. ^_^ yummm.

but we don't use the grill. we use the stove.

and the background music sooooo doesn't match with the korean tradition. we use traditional drums and ladies singing in the background. the background music is too ancient china like. and i know cuz i'm korean. :D

  • @flyingmonkeyx3

I was thinking the same thing; I'm not even Korean.

  • @flyingmonkeyx3 lol... is the recipe accurate?

  • im sorry but u put too much sugar which makes meat burn

  • Hi , that looks good :P . I heared a lot about Topoki , can you post a recipe for it ?

  • W/ the ribs, make sure to wash them first. Cutting them that way produces ALOT of bone fragments that needs to be washed away so you don't end up chomping down on one (which you still might)

  • I made this tonight - but didn't use a grill, I only made it in a wok. The smell when you first start cooking it is AMAZING! Tastes great as well. I think I had it on a bit high at first, and the sugar tends to carmelize and then burn fairly quickly, but once I turned it down it was great. The meat didn't burn, just some of the sugar on the pan itself. I'll know better next time, thanks for the great recipe!

  • next time use baking pan with oven at least, using wok is ok I guess but you're missing the whole point here. It's like cooking rice in pressurized cooker vs pot, which do you think will taste better?

  • it looks yummy!!!

  • can i use less brown sugar? trying 2 cut down sugar thanks alot !!!!

  • I first tried this food when I was 8 years old. Ive been a food fanatic since. Korean food is some of the best tasting food around.

  • I'm pretty sure Koreans use gochujang. I don't even know what country assam is from.

  • Comment removed

  • I've used bottled Bulgogi marinades found in most asian food stores and made it from scratch. If you use the store bought add some green onion shavngs.Either way rocks......

  • Is this the same ingredients as Bulgogi ?

  • another way to spell it is " Galbi " =]

  • nope you're wrong. Kalbi is correct, lmao!

  • but isn't K and G very similar in Korean?

  • no it's galbi, for example Korean last names romanized is actually inaccurate in Korean pronunciation. Kim = Gim, Chung = Jung, Lee = Yee, Kwon = Gwon, Kimchi = Gimchi

  • you could add grounded korean pear and scalion if you want to. If your ribs are little hard, you can add a cup of coke. ^^

  • 갈비 맛있겠다!! ^ㅁ^

  • its galbi, not kalbi!

  • If that's true then how come the menus at authentic Korean restaurants that I've been to spell it "kalbi".

  • Romanized spelling doesn't matter. It's the pronunciation that matters

  • my favourite korean food <3 im not really korean but my bf is and his family cooks amazing kalbi

  • im korean and this is so good to eat I LOVE IT

  • For all fo you dont know, in america the meat is sliced up diffrently then when you eat this at korea. In my opinion the one in korea is a better meat. Reason is its more softer and tender and the meat just tastes better.

  • Yea lol I agree.

Cultural imitations are never as good as the original. Just like McDonalds in Korea or Panda Express in China are never as good as it is in the country where its original creators reside. They have kimchi burgers in Korea though which are pretty good IMO cause I'm Korean.

  • woah.. kimchi burgers? :Q sounds yum

i know they have like chicken & gravy .. and spaghetti in mcdonalds philippines =P lol

  • no you're wrong about that, actually mickey D's in Korea serve better quality food, it actually looks like the picture when the food comes out

  • I like your comment....

  • good one dude, good one. nice come back for someone at your level lol

  • i so want to cook kalbi =)

  • my mom puts 7-up in the sauce part

  • wow my mom uses kiwi too!

  • you can use grounded pear and apple instead of so much sugar. Little bit of grounded kiwi make the meat softer.

  • pronounced more like callll bee
