@nznative77 YES! Do NOT used unboiled tap water for sinus rinse: it can cause lethal brain infection by amoeba present in tap water. See NPR story from Dec 19, 2011, "Second Neti-Pot Death From Amoeba Prompts Tap-Water Warning"
Agree, it helps a lot as long as you know what you do but you can really get a nasty ear infection if done incorrectly. I'm talking from personal experience when i started 10y ago and there wasn't that much information available.
Hey anyone watching... this ... be careful.... I learned to do this correctly... just now after much trial and error...... do not press as hard as this magnificent fellow is pressing.... it may be harmful to your ears..... i learned the hard way lol!
If you have consistent allergy issues, this IS the solution...or even if you get a cold and can't get rid of the mucus or that feeling like something is sticky up by your brain...its a weird feeling at first, but you get used to it...I do it just about daily...
I am glad that I've seen this video. I've always wondered how a saline flush would work. I always assumed that the solution went up the nostril and and back down and out, not gong over to the other nostril and back down, which is perfectly logical. But, I just never knew that both nostrils were actually connected. But, I never had anatomy in high school...*lol*
This is a great video. We are holding a NeilMed Sinus Rinse video contest and would like you to submit your video. Please visit our website (neilmed.com) for full instructions and details.
@hangloose303 nice i'll try that. I tried tipping my head back and pouring it in with a regular hard-plastic bottle. no idea if i fully flushed it but it helped a lot.
Man i wish it working that great for me too. But when i do it all of it comes out my mouth and never my noze, and there is always one side that is blocked completely....
Im sitting here online jacking off while looking at Saline Mist Bottles at the CVS website cause im so desperate to get some for my clogged up nose (im using over a box of tissues a day) but im too sick and have no car or money (i live with my parents) Someone donate a bottle to me QUICK!!!
@greatestsongsofLIFE what I've been using for sinus relief was an old teapot with warm water and a teaspoon of salt and I've been gently inhaling this through one nostril and out the other. It worked really well as my sinus problem is beginng to clear up after two days doing this. I know they say you're not to breath in while doing this, but it really does'nt do any harm.
I had a septoplasty a few weeks ago and got my splints removed Monday so I've had to use the sinus rinse to clean out my nose. I thought that it would feel weird and uncomfortable, but it actually feels nice. The solution has the same pH as the inside of your nose so it doesn't burn or sting at all. And you feel squeaky clean after. :D
I have severe sinus congestion and have had it for years.Found this product and was hoping for some relief of some kind. After about 3-4 days I can tell a little difference,I do not get clogged up as bad but I still get clogged up overnight in my sleep so I wake up being congested. After watching this I am now going to do it twice a day instead of the one time before bedtime.I have heard to try this for about 2 weeks faithfully and there should be some results..I can recommend it so far.
The NeilMed bottle is nice for doing this, but when you run out of packets of the mix, just use about a teaspoon of salt and about a half teaspoon of baking soda. The backing soda makes the pH correct -- without the soda the pH is worng and it will have a slightly bruning sensation. With the right pH feels like nothing.
You can do the same thing with a glass of warm water and a half teaspoon of salt. Just drink it through your nose. Sounds crazy but it works a treat and costs nothing.
I used boiling hot coffee from McDonald's and it didn't work. But fortunately I was able to sue and collect millions of dollars; now I have time to sit on YouTube all day and make inane comments about equally inane videos. (Actually, this video is a pretty useful one.)
i have like the worst allergies lik sneezing all day sometimes 10 times in a row...otc and prescription meds were not working but this rinse did wonders...its weird but i saw it on oprah tried it and am glad i found it!
both me and my dad use this exact stuff...i thought it would be a bit uncomfortable at first, but after doing it, its just like getting water up your nose at the beach, but for much less of the time...
really clears me up, but only for about 30 mins, yet again i only started yesterday....
lol, my dad calls it the douche!
and the person that refererred my dad to it, said never use straight cold water, it will give you the worst brainfreeze ever!
i would recomend water that's slightly above room temp, around body temp ( 38 centigrade). The water should not be cold and definitely not too hot. Also use distilled water or water that's been boiled and cooled.
This product costs only $12 with 100 predosed packets of solution. It is far superior to the neti pot (made by the same manuf.). Try it it's the best thing I have found for sinus & nose problems.
my doctor advised me to use this and by reading all the comments I think it really works! =) hmmm how much does it costs? and where can I buy it? please reply.... thx =)
What do you do if one of your nostrils is blocked up? I did this on the blocked nostril and the water just flowed out of my mouth instead. The unblocked nostril worked fine (water going out other nostril).
What I do if I have a blocked nostril is first breathe steam from a small vaporizer.I have one with a small hood ( or "mask" ) over the top, and I add a little saline to the water in the vaporizer and breathe that in until my nostrils become unplugged. Then I use the sinus rinse afterwards. I also discovered if I huff, puff, and snort when using the vaporizer it also loosens the gunk in my nose. The snorting and huffing will make you sound like a pig, but it sure does loosen up all the gunk.
it doesn't really work once you're blocked, but if you do it VERY gently and slowly some solution will get through. really tho i suggest waiting until your cold is over before starting to rinse daily.
I have used this nasal rinse for about a year. I have not had a cold or sinus infection since I started rinsing. It was most helpful when traveling in China -- after a day of breathing the air there, the inside of my sinus passages felt "fuzzy". This cleaned it out.
YOu might would like to put a bit pressure on bottle so it can force the water to go up and come out from other nostril... Also it may be dat your nerves are blocked and hence water is not able to pass through and and since sinus and nerves are located very close to the ear inside it might feel dat its creating pressure... But best advice will be here to check with Doctor cos he might suggest some spray to clear the congestion inside first..

Before that my "allergies" had seemed to be progressively worse ... every year.

Cat Scans no longer say I have sinusitis.
Neither do I.
