About time these drivers were convicted by the justice system, there are worse drivers than this on YT. There are videos of actual assaults and threatening behaviour uploaded by other well known cyclist channels.
The evidence is there - registration numbers and faces of the offenders. The police SHOULD act!
I use to cycle in London drivers of motor vehicles are cunts to cyclists. Really we need a separate & safe lane for cycles but there is no room. Drivers need to take a week out to see how it is from the other side see how it feels to be a hated, abused & vulnerable target.
@Tallandcharming Which is complete nonsense. Cyclists on average earn more than the UK national average. This means they pay more taxes, on average, and so pay more towards the road network, effectively to some degree subsidising your private motoring. Besides this, most cyclists already own cars, and are just not stupid enough to use them in London, for example.
6 out of 10 Boris bikers earn more than £50,000pa. Feel like much of a success in life yet?
@CyclingMikey Hi there, I'm not sure where your statistics come from, perhaps you can enligten as to your source? Assuming you are correct, and not that money maketh the man, I will just say that here in Sydney Australia, where I live, 50,000 UK pounds would mean me taking more than a 50% pay-cut. I shall pity the fate of cyclists everywhere tomorrow as I sail a racing yacht in the annual regatta tomorrow, It will be 26 degrees & sunny, oh & a "work day". Safe cycling everyone.
@Tallandcharming Well, you'll be the exception, in by far the minority. My point still holds, that cyclists on average pay more for the road network than motorists, and that they to some degree subsidise private motoring.
Hopefully you'll no longer spread the nonsense that cyclists don't deserve to be on the roads since they don't pay towards them. Even if someone was on the dole and cycling, they'd still have more right to be on the road than me as a driver.
@CyclingMikey Perhaps cyclists pay more taxes per head than car drivers, but obviously there are far, far fewer of them, so as a group cyclists don't pay more taxes than car drivers. Also ignoring road tax on cars. And petrol. Do car drivers earn more than the national average?
@missionprodigy There is no road tax, DKUATB. As for ownership of cars, most cyclists do own cars. As I said before, cyclists are effectively subsidising private motoring to some small degree. You should thank them, and you should share the public highway as you're required to do by law, instead of trying to prove how cyclists don't belong on the roads because they don't pay some non-existent tax.
@missionprodigy You should also thank all the cyclists that ride to work. If they were to take their cars, you'd have gridlock, just as with a tube strike day. If instead 10% of drivers cycled, you'd have summer holiday traffic and much shorter journey times.
Give a cyclist a camera and he will ride around until he finds (or creates) a confrontation.
I had a cyclist in front of me that sat in the middle of the road and refused to move over to let me pass. He got all angry and demanded to know why it was so important that I got past.
I simply asked why it was so important that he prevented me from passing - he looked all confused at that point.
@harryblue1859 "I had a cyclist in front of me that sat in the middle of the road....". He was probably just following advice from the Institute of advanced motorists to take the lane.
What do you think it was that made the cyclist angry? Were you sounding your horn? Tailgating? Close overtake? All illegal. A cyclists taking the lane is not only perfectly legal but recommended.
I'm sure he was confused by the stupidity of your question. You're willing to make a dangerous pass to save seconds.
@zivkovicable ...The IAM is a charity, nothing more.
I did not sound my horn, I waited patiently assuming the cyclist would allow me to pass at a convenient place, but he did not, he purposely held up a long line of cars on a busy road. One can only assume he had a point to make. Perhaps, like yourself, he had a small penis.
There are idiots using bicycles just as there are idiots using cars, this cyclist was an absolute idiot and you sound just like him - simple.

I would have not let you win this case, YOUR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD HOLDING UP TRAFFIC ON A PUSH BIKE, making it hard for cars to overtake, which can cause accidents. I really do not know why you think you was in the right, even I could see my your own film you was in the middle of the road holding everyone up. Bikes should have there own lane on roads so this kind of thing does not happen. Holding cars up, causing traffic and you think the drivers are not going to get round up. Behave child.
@ajhomryder I do hope you are trolling... I find it hard to fathom you could actually be that that dull. 'Middle of the road'?... He wasn't even in the middle of his lane! Maybe try to educate yourself & invest some time to look up why cyclists, sometimes need to, take 'Primary'
@ajhomryder There's nothing wrong with a cyclist being in the middle of the road, and it is in fact best cycling practice. You're clearly not even an advanced driver then, since this is what the Institute of Advanced Motorists recommend doing.
Perhaps you ought to take some more driving lessons? You certainly could do with some cycling lessons IMO.
@ajhomryder Yes but you are obviously not a judge or lawyer, so how can you say that!? you are just plain "As thick as Depleted Uranium lined pigshit" which quite obvious from your lack of diction in the posting you have blessed those of us intelligent cycling people with! ha ha!
We do have a place, it's called on the road, if we choose to take the primary position it is because of our need to protect our own safety from morons like you who should not have a licence in the 1st place!
@ajhomryder You really are a thick person. If you ever read the highway code and a copy of Cyclecraft you will notice that the primary position is actually the prefered part of the road when cycling. Only do we take the secondary position IF it is safe and the road conditions permit. Also it is not a legal requirement to cycle in the cycle lane. Its at the discrection of the cyclist to use them. Again for saftey. Most motorists cannot see bikes in the lane.
Swerve into the road? Where? Do you mean look back, check clear and gradually take primary before the restriction (i had moved left to let the preceding car through).
As for the final part I was alongside his car, as he cannot move sideways that was far the safest place to be. I do not get what you are 'just saying'.
....apologies pressed send without finishing comment...what I mean is that dangerous driving to me is inconsistent manoeuvring across the lane. Yes we all know that defensive riding is required but if this idiot scraped past you or put you into the gutter then you would have caught that in camera too? It's a difficult one admittedly but the final 30 secs of that film had you slap bang in the middle of an open road, and all because you wanted to nail his quote. Just saying....
I'm glad this guy got caught on camera but as a cyclist myself I find it odd that you seem perfectly happy to swerve into the road in order to prevent any squeezing.
Mattaria, I perceive this to be illustrative of a much wider problem which really does need addressing. This prosecution would never have got off the ground if I had not welcomed publicity when the police dropped it. Someone has to stick their head above the parapet and it may as well be me. There is no point in my spending days to get this progressed, if it is all then done on the quiet. The aim is to alter the behavior of more than one individual...ct'd
Guy was clearly a dick but you're a bit self righteous with this was it really necessary to put in online...kinda reminds me of the sketch from monkey dust about cyclists. (for what it's worth I am a cyclist too, still think it's a bit preachy.)
@mattaria I don't see why shameful and threatening behaviour like that from this driver should go unchallenged or unpublicised. Having this video so public will bring attention to his behaviour and dissuade him from doing that again as he'll not know whether the next cyclist also has a camera (and there are tens of thousands of us out there). More than that, it'll persuade other drivers not to abuse cyclists either.
Well done to you Sir! I have the same problem when out on my horse, most drivers are ok but some are just pigs, so i bought a mini cam dvr111 which fits very nicely on my helmet and gives excellent images. PS half ton of horse through your windscreen will seriously ruin your day!
@peggy2791 Chuffed you guys watched from my playlist!! I need to do a lot more work on that one, there are tens if not hundreds of videos that have resulted in driver consequences.
Well done for pursuing this and getting a good result.
But I do not think it would be a wise idea for other people to react to motorists in this way, as some people are so crazy they wont threaten to kill you. They will try to kill you in retaliation. You might as well just ignore them in the safest way you can.
This is coming from someone who has been knocked down by a car trying to overtake them, so I do understand the serious of what the driver was doing at the start.
Why is it always the WV Golf drivers that are 'diots ? :) There's something about that car, I'm telling ya! Could it be the Golf specific new car smell that makes drivers act as a'holes ? ;)
I've watched a quite a few videos like this, it's nice to see that it is finally recognised that threatening to kill someone is against the law, shame he didn't get the full 10 years for it really, that would have made the news and reminded everyone that it's not ok to threaten to kill. You heard me, that's the world we live in where people have to be reminded of these things.
Excellent work - it would be great to get even wider publicity of this conviction. I'm going to share it on Facebook - others might like to do the same. Did you try any local or national TV stations who might like to show the clip?
Oh those silly motorists with their massive ego's. They can act all tough out on the road but when the time comes, they're going to have a conviction which will be on their records and will only make life difficult for them sooner or later.
My own personal opinion is that if cyclists want to use the roads then they should be made to pay a tax and have number plates attached to their bikes, I've had wing mirrors ripped off and my car scratched by cyclists weaving in and out off traffic, if the congestion is busy you can't get after the cyclist to ask them to pay for the damage, this I feel is something the government need to look at.
@johnchristie111 Like all vehicles, the level of VED (tax) cyclists pay is based on emissions.
Number plates could be instituted but we need to consider the costs of creating a whole new regulatory system at a time when government money is scarce and we should be encouraging as many people as possible to cycle.
I'm sorry about the troubles you've had with some cyclists, however, would having a reg plate wider than their bikes not lead to more scratches?
@johnchristie111 Interesting place for you to bring this up... a motorist threatens to kill a cyclist after passing dangerously and your response is that they cyclists should have plates because of the damage they might cause a car while weaving in and out of traffic. I'm curious as to what weaving means to you.. possibly getting in your way? Cyclists are not interested in hitting your vehicle, it hurts them a LOT more than it hurts you.
@johnchristie111 On average, cyclists pay more tax than motorists, since they are over-achievers and earn more than the UK national average wage. For example, 6 in 10 Boris bikers earn more than £50,000pa. Perhaps you ought to be thanking cyclists - not only are they contributing more to society than the average citizen, they're reducing traffic queues in front of you by not taking their cars, reducing pollution, plus their health and fitness means they're less of a burden on the NHS.
I know it's called V(ehicle)E(xsise)D(uty) and am not disputing that, however you can see why a lot of motorists would be confused by it. For example, my recent reminder letter told me to get a new TAX disc, it asks me to TAX my vehicle online (website) /TAXdisc or for more information on TAXING go to (website)/vehicleTAX. Nowhere on the letter does it mention VED, I'm not taking sides. Just a thought.
Also apologies for the lack of a website, Youtube comments wont allow it to work
That has happened to me loads of times, motorists overtaking when the road narrows. I mean to be held up for a few seconds. you just accelerate when you pass by. whats the problem. glad he got done
@skitchcraig incorrect. Everyone pays for the road as part of normal tax, the tax you pay on your car is vehicle excess duty, learn the difference....
@martinx70 Well watch out next time or you could also end up like this chap!
I also pay road tax on my car, we as "pushbikers" don't have to on our zero emissions machines, but then again neither do horses either and nor do Steam Engines.
If it emits emissions you pay tax on it simples. However we all have a right to be here on the road, at the same time if necessary.
@martinx70 Crikey, you really are scum - just went on your profile to see the comments you wrote, despite being ashamed enough to delete them here, they're still visible.
@CyclingMikey lol, the opinion of a cyclist means less than nothing, you are mearly a worm to be crushed by the mighty motorist. so on ya bike sonny lol
@CyclingMikey if you had bothered to watch the vid i commented on you would see it was completely in context to the rant made by the gentleman in question, no poo off farty pants lol
@CyclingMikey your opinion is worthless, go try and get a rise from someone who gives a shit, .go troll someplace else. fyi i delete my comments to make the answers look as ridiculous and meaningless as the are. this is my last comment. bye worm
@CyclingMikey I just had a look at this idiots channel, I see he's favourited "How to Stop a Panic Attack" seems like the poor guy has problems (as if we didn't know!)
Nicely done :-) I'm always amazed how the people who are in such a rush to get passed you as they think your "holding them up" are the same ones who'll then argue the toss with you about it...clearly didn't get him very far if you passed him and it then took another 10 minutes to catch up!
Good one. I may have been a little hesitant about pushing this one for prosecution at the start, but the outcome is as it should be. I suppose I have become too accustomed to abuse. We should never get used to it. It shouldn't be accepted at any level. I just need to find the time end energy to pursue some of the death threats I get on YouTube!
Well done that man! It's a shame the clueless scumbag is still behind the wheel of a car, and I do fear he'll have to actually kill someone before that changes, but hopefully I'm wrong.
RESULT.. Excellent work in following this through. It goes to show if you can get the dudes face on camera as well as the incident and the reg number, he's bang to rights. On behalf of all cyclists... Nice one.
I read about this on your cycling silk blog last year and at the time the case seemed to be going nowhere. £565 fine and another conviction to his name is a result. Pity he was not sent back to court for breach of his previous suspended sentance though ;(
@jonboy0011 £250 fine £300 costs (reflecting the fact there were numerous hearings so he could argue the prosecution was unfair) and £15 victim surcharge, total £565.

Cr1byn 1 month ago 3
@ajhomryder There's nothing wrong with a cyclist being in the middle of the road, and it is in fact best cycling practice. You're clearly not even an advanced driver then, since this is what the Institute of Advanced Motorists recommend doing.
Perhaps you ought to take some more driving lessons? You certainly could do with some cycling lessons IMO.

jimmyb316 1 month ago
@ajhomryder Yes but you are obviously not a judge or lawyer, so how can you say that!? you are just plain "As thick as Depleted Uranium lined pigshit" which quite obvious from your lack of diction in the posting you have blessed those of us intelligent cycling people with! ha ha!
We do have a place, it's called on the road, if we choose to take the primary position it is because of our need to protect our own safety from morons like you who should not have a licence in the 1st place!
RocketScientist79 1 month ago
@ajhomryder You really are a thick person. If you ever read the highway code and a copy of Cyclecraft you will notice that the primary position is actually the prefered part of the road when cycling. Only do we take the secondary position IF it is safe and the road conditions permit. Also it is not a legal requirement to cycle in the cycle lane. Its at the discrection of the cyclist to use them. Again for saftey. Most motorists cannot see bikes in the lane.
quinndexter 1 month ago 2
Swerve into the road? Where? Do you mean look back, check clear and gradually take primary before the restriction (i had moved left to let the preceding car through).
As for the final part I was alongside his car, as he cannot move sideways that was far the safest place to be. I do not get what you are 'just saying'.
givecyclistsroom 1 month ago 3
....apologies pressed send without finishing comment...what I mean is that dangerous driving to me is inconsistent manoeuvring across the lane.
Therowleyclan 1 month ago
@Therowleyclan Stop making up stuff about this video. I see no swerving or any other wrongdoing by the cyclist.
Why are you excusing the driver's behaviour, and why do you seem to identify with this driver? Are you like him at all?
CyclingMikey 1 month ago
I'm glad this guy got caught on camera but as a cyclist myself I find it odd that you seem perfectly happy to swerve into the road in order to prevent any squeezing.
Therowleyclan 1 month ago
...ct'd..Yes, I will get sniped at. However I find some reassurance in the overwhelmingly positive comments here.

The aim is to alter the behavior of more than one individual...ct'd
givecyclistsroom 1 month ago 3
Guy was clearly a dick but you're a bit self righteous with this was it really necessary to put in online...kinda reminds me of the sketch from monkey dust about cyclists. (for what it's worth I am a cyclist too, still think it's a bit preachy.)
mattaria 1 month ago
@mattaria I don't see why shameful and threatening behaviour like that from this driver should go unchallenged or unpublicised. Having this video so public will bring attention to his behaviour and dissuade him from doing that again as he'll not know whether the next cyclist also has a camera (and there are tens of thousands of us out there). More than that, it'll persuade other drivers not to abuse cyclists either.

My own personal opinion is that if cyclists want to use the roads then they should be made to pay a tax and have number plates attached to their bikes, I've had wing mirrors ripped off and my car scratched by cyclists weaving in and out off traffic, if the congestion is busy you can't get after the cyclist to ask them to pay for the damage, this I feel is something the government need to look at.
johnchristie111 1 month ago
@johnchristie111 Like all vehicles, the level of VED (tax) cyclists pay is based on emissions.
Number plates could be instituted but we need to consider the costs of creating a whole new regulatory system at a time when government money is scarce and we should be encouraging as many people as possible to cycle.
I'm sorry about the troubles you've had with some cyclists, however, would having a reg plate wider than their bikes not lead to more scratches?
FitztheTim 1 month ago
@johnchristie111 Cyclists pay lots of tax John - Income tax, VAT on bike sales/servicing/parts, capital gains tax and a broad range of other taxes.
CycleDub 1 month ago
@johnchristie111 Interesting place for you to bring this up... a motorist threatens to kill a cyclist after passing dangerously and your response is that they cyclists should have plates because of the damage they might cause a car while weaving in and out of traffic. I'm curious as to what weaving means to you.. possibly getting in your way? Cyclists are not interested in hitting your vehicle, it hurts them a LOT more than it hurts you.
scottwa 1 month ago
@johnchristie111 Neither VED, nor fuel tax is hypothecated. Just like the vast majority of UK taxes.
richij 1 month ago

Also apologies for the lack of a website, Youtube comments wont allow it to work
CO27 1 month ago
@CO27 Most people are confused about Road Tax.... the name suggests something to do with roads.
I'd like to see it rebranded as Vehicle Tax in colloqual language as this better reflects it being tax on vehicles (rather than the road).
More than that, I'd like to see it eliminated all together and chuck a few pence on fuel instead.
After all, VED is an emissions based tax, and larger vehicles burn more so it would reflect its fuel consumption.. a tax-per-mile if you will! :)

@skitchcraig incorrect. Everyone pays for the road as part of normal tax, the tax you pay on your car is vehicle excess duty, learn the difference....

@skitchcraig It's Vehicle Excise Duty and is based on emissions. Electric cars are also exempt.
Roads are funded through general taxation.

I also pay road tax on my car, we as "pushbikers" don't have to on our zero emissions machines, but then again neither do horses either and nor do Steam Engines.
If it emits emissions you pay tax on it simples. However we all have a right to be here on the road, at the same time if necessary.
