Anyone who's spent any time in Libya knows that this is propaganda, that the offiical power structure had little real power except for the ability to engage in low-level graft, and that an informal power structure centered around Gaddafi and those of his choosing held the reins.
@costigm are both true, was he keeping the country together so they would not have a civil war, and was there actually a lot of local control and he only made major decisions.No system is perfect and yes he killed people in a tribal part of the world but Libya was doing quite well, where they not? Is it outsiders or was in the people in Libya.It seems funny the west picked Libya when they where only in debt 2% to GDP, that was the lowest in the world and free health and education.I'm confused.
