my sister is fostering a kitten that spontaneously expressed this 'malformation'. his siblings are normal & the little guy seems to be adapting quite well. the vet mentioned a condition where in some cases, different parts of the body will grow at diff. rates so there's a slim chance that his legs will catch up. or he could be a spontaneous munchkin. apparently he's cute as a button & in every other way a completely normal kitten. THIS little callie is the most adorable thing in the universe!

I too disagree with forced breeding to create "cuteness" and other such things, but munchkin cats are actually a breed that occurred naturally, and NOT because people tried to create it for cuteness. It's a genetic accident, but it came about by itself, and not as a creation of humans.

Of course, because it's so different, people always assume it's a made-up breed, when in fact, it's not.
