I am truly sad that he passed away. I don't know where the aakf will go now...

I noticed Nishiyama Sensei's left eye is darker than his right one. Did someone give him a black eye during his Karate tournament days, or did master Funakoshi give it to him to teach him a painful lesson in humility?

Sensai Nishiyama is probably one of the only karate master who show how to dodge. I pratic karate, judo and Jun Fan's Jeet Kune Do, when I dodge my karate sensai ask me to do 10 to 100 push-up!!! Dodge its the best defensive way, better then block, when you block you start 2nd. Nishiyama is also the only master I have seen who use scientific research & knowledge to improve a technic or a training. He was also the only master who was respected by Bruce Lee.

Sensei's left eye is darker reportedly from an old injury, but it was NOT done by Sensei Funakoshi.

Nishiyama Sensei's eye darkened with age. Unfortunately, it was revealed to me today, 9/11/08, that Sensei is in the hospital with advanced lung cancer. It is too bad and he will be missed in the world of real karate, which, is actually relatively small.

Nelson Carrion(the firs person who appeare inthe beggining)was my teacher in Costa Rica about 4 years hi is 4 dan) and justo gomez its just awesome, he comes to Costa Rica in 2002 and i practiced whithim its incredible. i remember the first time i see and his was in my back practice, and i hear ohhh..ho!!!ho

its so awesome and since that its my idol. i practice karate since 1996 and i have 18 years..ihave a lot to do and learn..but aim on the right side

Shotokan is one of the most powerful styles of karate.

Defensively, it is THE most powerful.  Offensively, its worthless. That is the way Gichin Funakoshi designed it.

How can you say it's offensively worthless? The speed and precision of an attack is essential in Shotokan. Shotokan karateka prefer to counter but that doesn't mean they can't attack.
