@gekiryudojo Wow that's some great, professional representation of Systema there. Strange how several of the "old man's" students (including myself) are former long-term students of Systema (yes trained with Vlad on many ocassions). Sorry if the effectiveness of Guided Chaos does not translate well to video in your eyes. Of all people to understand the necessity of "feeling" something in order to understand it, I would think a Systema teacher would. . . . Sheesh.
Good video, but I would like to add one thing: if you see the knife in time and decide to run, you might want to consider a stun and run tactic; 1 strike to distract, then run away.
But I totally agree with you that this situation is unlikely. In fact, people showing a knife are often not intending to use it as a weapon - but rather as a tool for intimidation.
ok cool thanks man for addressing.....I know you guys are primarily located in NYC but do you have any teachers here in Central Florida or any seminars planned?
@asmith73TCB No teachers but we do have an informal training group in FL. Go to our website and register on the Training Groups page. If you ever have any questions about our material don't hesitate to email us via the website contact form. We are having a 5 day Boot Camp in NY in May that is appropriate for any skill level.
nice video but what is your solution when you have no choice but to fight, when his intention is to kill you and you can't run....sorry for being redundant but it needed to be asked.
@asmith73TCB Any defense against the knife is dicey and you probably will get cut badly, even if you survive and escape. You need to minimize exposure of vital areas (as opposed to peripheral). We advocate kicking, ground kicking and the use of a "combat ready" cane. Obviously if the kicking doesn't work you go for the targets with the most stopping power: eyes and throat and hope it stops him enough for you to get to a hospital before bleeding out. See our website for more info.
