I got my dog from a shelter in West Virginia and he is one of the best things that happened in my life. Check him out on my videos! Instead of buying a dog consider adopting one. I am sure he/she will make your life a much better place!
OMG the dog at 1:29 l would adopt him! he has an expression like l may e in a tough patch, but u know what, lma keep a smile on my face and an open heart and thats it! l just adopted a puppy from a shelter! It was a pro kill and l said "which one is gonna die first?" they pointed me to a golden retriever puppy that is now my monterous Jayke :) and no you wont be sorry hes better behaved then my other 2 5g costing AKC registered dogs!
I'm in love with that dog at 2:36 !! His look makes me cry it's like he's saying i'm fed up here and sad. I'm just waiting for death to come and take me !!! It's just so sad how could people abandon this cute dogs ! So what if they aren't from a partivular breed or not the colour we like ?!?. Even out friends in real have defects ! Cant dogs have any aswell ???
I don't like people just breeding to breed, or those who can't even spell the name of the breed they breed, just to make some money. There are responsible breeders in ALL areas, some are hobby-breeders, some show...and then there are those who like to see dogs mate and don't care about the consequences...unless it lines their pockets....
We educate ourselves about what kind of car best fits in our lives or what neighborhood is best for us why can't we apply the same idea before getting pets?
People need to EDUCATE themselves on the responsibility of having pets BEFORE ever getting one. THAT is the root of an overpopulation problem in the shelters, not neccessarily JUST the non spayed and neutered animals procreating---a GREAT MANY animals I worked with came to the shelter s/n, but STILL ended up in that shelter--so s/n is only PART of the solution, not the end all for it.
It's the disposable and keeping up with the joneses mentality that contributes MORE than all the non s/n
Some people even drop one off to go back at a later time to get another...I volunteered for 3 years with rescues and shelters and while I give kudos to the love, some people don't know enough to be handling dogs, let alone rescuing them to adopt out to the public.
I don't think it's humane to rescue them from "death row" only to put them in a no kill shelter to sit in another cage, sometimes for YEARS until they are adopted. I saw many things in those three years, and education was a biggie..
There is absolutely NOTHING second rate about a shelter dog. There is NOTHING second rate about adopting an adult or mixed breed dog. I wish that message could be gotten out more effectively.........
omg the dog at 2:47 , its quite insane how much he/she looks like my dog. we rescued him from a shelter when he was a puppy 7 years ago. I have searched for beagle lab mixes but they NEVER had the facial structure right. That dog has the same EXACT face and looks the same size, 25-30 lbs? wow thats scary how identical they are
Shelters are very sad. Where i live our County Shelter was voted worst shelter on the East Coast. The inspector said it was the worst hes seen. They get so many cats that they put them in carriers on the floor because lack of room for them all. I encourage ALL people to adopt from shelters and ALWAYS spay and neuter
This video is great! My family adopts most of our dogs from shelters. I had a dog named Jenny that looked like the one at 0:27(Pitbull -dalmation mix) but she had to be put down because she was very animal agressive and attacked and almost killed many dogs. She also killed and injured small animals. Shortly after she was put down we got a Bahamian Potcake puppy from the Bideawee in NYC and his name is Jake. Jake the Potcake
to. It's like the parable of the starfish - you made a difference to this one! I have to remind myself of this, when I see all the suffering & abuse, abandonment. If I could,I'd
rescue them all! Thus far, 4-all Pekingese - don't know why all Pekes, who came into my life at the right time. Currently, "Capi", a
terribly abused(1&1/2yrs) Albino Peke, Now he is pure Love & Joy,constant companion. (That uswdkb42 is Despicable & Abusive). - Penny
I wish more people would think about what happens to their pet when they decide they no longer want to care for them anymore and drop them off at a shelter or worse !
Unfortunately too many people just don't put the time and effort, and thought into training their dog, or the compassion to do it right. "I rubbed his nose in it every time I came home from work to find he made a mess on the floor and he still isn't housebroken. I had to take him to the shelter because he's so stupid!" Here's a clue, don't get another dog.
uswdkb42 I hope you will be haunted for what you did. You have no idea of training & care-giving,patience & love. I can only hope your dog was adopted by a Loving person. BTW, He was not stupid,You are.
PennymusicMAma, I was quoting other people's lame reasons for dumping their dogs. I still have my dog and always will. I would never ever get rid of him. You obviously didn't read my post right, so I understand your negative comment. I also helped the people who posted this video find a stolen dog in Florida, and I'm halfway across the country.
Reply to uswdk42: I apologize if I offedned you, howver you stated: "I rubbed his nose in it...& took him to the shelter...don't get another dog." I thought you were stating a true statement. Pets respond to Praise, not negativity. Thank you for your response.
Personally, I know how to train a dog using praise and positive reinforcement, but some people only use punishment, and they get frustrated when that doesn't work, and wind up dumping their dogs. That's all I was trying to say, and it doesn't justify it. Thanks for all the thumbsdowns though.
Essentially, we're on the same page. However you choose to be judgemental and abusive toward people that you ASSUME are judgemental and abusive to animals. That doesn't get us anywhere. People who buy or adopt pets do so out of the goodness of their hearts. Usually, they're misinformed about how to train their pets, and wind up dumping them because they're simply misinformed (uneducated). Wouldn't it be better to educate, rather than alienate? You alienated me, and I'm your ally.
As for you and the others who gave me thumbs-downs, I'll try to be more clear and consice in future postings. I will never again try to present the "enemy's" side clearly, so that we can understand and effectively counter it.
Thanks for this video - I can't understand anyone who would take their dog to a shelter. I can't even imagine doing that. Pets are a commitment that should be taken seriously and kept.
Look into their eyes...all they want is food, water, shelter and LOVE...in exchange for undying devotion....PLEASE ADOPT DON'T BUY!!
