@vinkelnisse DEAR JACKASS, when a vehicle is on fire and there's a risk of explosion from , oh I dunno, gas tanks and propane, it's usually safer to wait a bit before sending crews into their death.
What's the rush chuckles? Did you want to get something out of the glovebox?
What would you suggest? They jump from the truck and run in as fast as possible to put out a fire of a destroyed RV just so they can fight a cooler fire?
Firefighters work fast enough and safe enough to complete the job and complete it safely for all involved.
I wouldn't ask you to burn yourself on the grill in an effort to hurry up with my BIG MAC.
I realize it takes you time to work the fryolator AND the grease trap bucket 'o' fries.
@vinkelnisse I thought the same thing but I saw the power line had caught on fire so I thought maybe they were calling the electric company to shut off power to that line. Water and electricity don't get along.
I HAD LESS THEN A MINUTE TO GET MY MOTORHOME STOPPED & GET OUT BEFORE IT WAS TOTALLY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. MY TAPE CASE AND THE TAPES SURVIVED...I STILL HAVE THAT CASE OF TAPES....
Pull hoses, hook up to water, don the gear (that fire is about 1000*!)
The vehicle is a total loss. Even a minute earlier wouldn't help.
Fire has to be suppressed WHILE it's torching the inside so a few minutes would not make a difference...except to the jakes who go home burned or to hospital for inhalation of nasty chemicals from a plastic motorhome.
@sagrportugal Motorhomes have propane tank on board. The sound is the safety valve release the propane out of the tank automatically when things happen like this, so it won't explode.
Not all volunteer Dept. Are like this. We can roll up on the scene do a size up and have water flowing in full turnout in less than a minute. And do a excellent knockdown.
You have got to be kidding me LOL. I can pull up on the scene and in 45 seconds have it pumping at full potential. Looks as if you need some more training. I know it is already gone but who says you have the choice to take your time. Why even show up with that attitude. You need to get the guy who is opperating the truck to learn and throttle up the same time he charges the line. Yes I am a firefighter and have been for 23 years
FOR SALE BY OWNER used motor home low miles lololol srry it really does suck as for the firefighter my dept in a case like that would have sat back and watched it burn because of the risk with the power wires over top at that stage it was allready a loss and why risk someone getting shocked
The noise its giving off is the propane liquid gas being expelled by the heat from the tanks safety valve....in industry fires this is termed a B.L.E.V.E. ... boiling liquid expanding vapour explosion....had the video gone on we may have heard the explosion...this is when the liquid in the propane tank can no longer take away the surrounding heat as more is vapuorised /expelled/burned the tank becomes hotter and eventually melts/holes ..hence the final explosion usually with a bleve.
A truck like that doesn't have an air horn because it doesn't have air brakes. And even if it did have an air horn, air isn't flammable so that wouldn't be it. It was the pressure relief valve on the propane tank so that it doesn't explode.
HAs Nothing to do With FORD has to do with preventative maintenance plain and simple a routine check of the lines and oh paying attention to the weird smell of Oh i Dont know gasoline should of warned em and the farting you hear is the venting on the propane tank to prevent a BLEVE
If I didn't know any better, I'd swear that the horn went off right when it was burning! That long honk and a burst of flame? The air horn's tank exploding? Never mind it's the propane tank. Why won't the damn thing explode?
@fightingwolf18 PROPANE TANKS have a vent system to relieve pressure to prevent a BLEVE (Boiling liquid explosive Vapor explosion) as well fuel vapors are more volatile then LPG so with this boils down to is a fuel leak on the exhaust but I'm no Expert
If I didn't know any better, I'd swear that the horn went off right when it was burning! That long honk and a burst of flame? The air horn's tank exploding?
These things sure do burn up in a hurry. If mine were to ever catch fire, screw the fire extinguisher, I'm getting the heck out of there. I remember passing one on the interstate that had burned. All that was left was the chassis.
There is a video somewhere I saw of a 90's Holiday Rambler RV that had VERY bad suspension issues. I remember the owners tried to have the dealer take care of it and Lazy Days in Florida kept refusing to fix the problem. The rv owners finally attached a video camera to the underside of the chassis and filmed the suspension almost totally falling apart, it was a freaky video! Does anyone know if it's here on Youtube?? I can't find it anywhere! And yes, GLAD you guys are OK!
You should of went to the fire caption and say This is my motor home that is burning r u going to stand around and watch it burn or r u going to do something and put out the flames before they spread and start a grass fire/ wildfire and cause more fires. Because from being with a department once you arrive on scene you suppose to get on the fire quick and not stand their and watch it burn and not let it expand to near by brush.
Excellent video. More excellent because it was happening to your RV and you still shot some of the best video on youtube. Steady, good shots, no stupid oratory. You may have lost your RV, but you created a video that will last for years and years.
on was too long i do agree with that. oh p.s. live lines need to be hit with a solid stream not a broken straight stream from a combo nozzel for electricity to travel down to the nozel.
@cowboy62191 And I have a very good friend from FDNY who was electrocuted with high-voltage which traveled straight through his combo nozzle, so that theory is out the window. Yes, solid stream is more conducive to conducting electricity, but it is possible for a combo to conduct it as well.
wow to see some of these dumbass comments froom people about the FD on scene. They werent trying to put the fire out from the top down dumbass they were trying to put the brush out while stayin away from the line. and to the dumbass that said the tank wont bleve yes the fuck it will valves fail our the pressure builds up to fast. apparently ur instructors didnt teach you well or you were one of those know it all kind. now for the amount of time it took to out water
@cowboy62191 Yes, because the completely correct way to put the brush out is to shoot directly over the top of the camper, straight at the power lines, or shoot straight through the windows on the side to push the fire right into the brush. Intelligent. They should have either come from the front or the back and actually gotten water on the brush that was burning, as from where they were standing, the brush they were getting water on wasn't even burning...
And just a general firefighting note to everyone, you cant put a fire out by shooting the pillar of flame like these geniuses are doing, you have to go for the BASE of the fire, not the tippy-top. There should be at LEAST an 80% foam mix in this, which I doubt there is, which will suppress not only the flames but the byproduct gases as well. Also, fire police should be holding civilians MUCH farther back than this cameraman was standing. The firetruck wasn't even as close!! Come on people...
...models) have little to no wood in their construction. So what's in that huge cloud of black smoke??? Engine fluids, fuel, plastics, possibly lead from paint, glues from pressboard, etc. Yes, it is a total loss but consider the safety hazard all of these POISONOUS AND DEADLY GASES are causing. @SDFDFIRE (cont'd) FURTHERMORE, just because this is a total loss does not mean you don't want to put it out as soon as possible. Another example of why these firefighters are idiots, notice how they didn't survey the scene and see the BURNING POWER LINES directly behind the camper, and just started throwing water over its roof. They're lucky they weren't killed from electrocution as the fire burned the insulating plastic off the lines revealing the bare copper. And RV's (especially older...
@SDFDFIRE Are you kidding me??? Seriously??? If you legitimately think that it should take 2min from arriving on scene to be getting water on the fire, you're moronic. I'm an interior FF in NY, so don't even bother questioning my credentials. How this scene SHOULD go is everyone in full gear and on air by the time the truck stops. It's warm weather so the pump should already be wet. Two guys on air hop off, grab a crosslay, and by the time they're ready, pump operator just opens the valve
Sorry about your motor home but I agree with viewer who thinks this is the worst fire department ever seen. These guys are really lame and need to be sent back to school to learn how to use their equipment in a timely fashion! Better luck to you in the future.

Hello.
3 minutes is the target in San Antonio.
For the police, AVERAGE response time is over 40 minutes.
But, as was pointed out, a total loss.
And, most motor homes are not equipped with an electrical master or a gas shutoff that is easy to get to.
90% of all motor home fires are electrical in nature.

45 minutes later help finally arrives , what fire?
towmachinemak12 1 year ago
There's no way to save a vehicle after it catches on fire. Better to stand back at a safe distance and watch it burn.

Holy crap! No wonder the firemen didn't bother doing ANYTHING when they first arrived. This is heartbreaking to watch (being a fellow RV'er).
