Why is this not art? It makes a complex statement about semiotics, womanhood, and psychology. The fact that the language of the kitchen is exposed as being transposed onto the woman's body to trap her into a particular role in society is brilliant. Just as language is confining women to a specific world, it is also exposed as confining in general, i.e., there are no kitchen words for the last letters of the alphabet, so she literally can't fit these letters into her video format.

But regardless, it's not wise to dismiss a field of study without examining the history it played in defining a culture, a world.
