Well done tutorial. And to your critics, it does work well agalnst advanced students, if you know how to use it. Ask Joe Lewis, Bill Wallace and Don Wilson if its works. Most people don't take the time to learn how to execute it properly and only know how to throw roundhouses.
Who cares about points do you only point spar? The key is does the technique work in a fight or self defense and is it affective and by the looks of his other video board breaking I think it would do the job.
that is an old style korean side kick..u need 2 second to execute that side kick..there is another way to execute side kick 1 second faster than this...hint: do side kick without twist first..up ur knee like u want to execute front snap kick..then twist it while half way to ur enemy..try it..
good technique, I've found teaching my students that they have a lot of trouble executing side kicks. I tell them it's a push kick but sideways. The best thing I've figured out is to have them push on a wall sideways. This teaches them what it feels like to push a target sideways.
Hi Lauren, I thought that was a very well demonstraed tutorial which will continue to prepare me for my next grading. The Orange belt. Many thanks for both videos. I don't a webcam to post a video response.
very good lesson

He has the bad habit of shuffling during the kick. Being no longer grounded, the kick won't get any points.
Side kick (yup-chagi) should only be done after sidestepping an attack anyway. As shown, this technique has little value against high belts.
