My mother is a Captain in the Canadian Air Force, and she just had her 23 year of service. She is amazing with a gun and was on the Canadian shooting team and even over seas to compete. She is currently a Commanding officer at a Air cadet squad.

I am a female in the Air Force and I am proud of my decisions to join and fight for this country. I am also proud of the other women in all branches of the military for their sacrifice. So stop being so closed minded about women in the military. This is not the olden days.

If a man and woman are injured, another male soldier will choose to try to save the female over the male even if the chances of success are smaller. FYI there have been female fighter pilots in the AF (which is still a combat arms position) and biologically can handle more G-force then men.

I joined the Army in 1999, was a Blackhawk door gunner in Iraq from '04-'05, then infantry for '06-'08. I was medically retired in 2009 after an IED went off next to my humvee and gave me a traumatic brain injury. And ever woman I met the entire time I was in the army was fucking worthless. So suck it.

@GothicBish Their are plenty of ways to serve one's country, the military is just one of them and it's way of serving the country is to kill those who attack it. Also, I think you may have misapprehended me, I am in full support of removing discrimination between gender (or any other superficial genetic differences for that matter), my comment was mainly anti-military, I merely pointed out that if a woman can use a gun and wants to join the army, there is nothing wrong with them joining it.

Women arent in combat arms because of the male hero concept. If a man and woman are injured, another male soldier will choose to try to save the female over the male even if the chances of success are smaller. Im not saying women cant do what men can but it would complicate things on the battlefield when emotions and chivalry are involved.

Dun know why everyone is in such a bunch over women in combat arms. I say if they want to do that job go for it, just don't lower the standards for women in combat arms. They should uphold the same standard as the men and if they can then great. FYI there have been female fighter pilots in the AF (which is still a combat arms position) and biologically can handle more G-force then men.

The ongoing debate about women in combat arms is stupid. Fortunately they're not yet allowed there by the US military, but we do allow them to ride along on convoys so they can sit in the back of the truck and cry. Women in combat are nothing like on tv, folks.

@Hellfire918 the main problem is that women dont have to pass the same standards as men do (this is not my opinion this is DOD policy) in my time in the army I have worked with women in combat ( we need to drag one along to search the women and crossdressers) and have only met one who didnt panic and or hide she actualy made herself usfull as acting as my AG during a fire fight unfortunatly she seems to be the exeption to the rule and I realy wish the others where as good but there it is.

But if your actualy read your paperwork that u signed when u enlisted, u are not giving your life (although there is that possiblity) but instead you are offering to take others lives if it came down to it. (also possible) and the military has a strict rule against females in a direct combat MOS.

@silentpuma30mm That's fine, for every woman you can name whom you claim to be a good soldier, I can name two that are nothing but a burden. And yes, I can say that I proudly served. I joined the Army in 1999, was a Blackhawk door gunner in Iraq from '04-'05, then infantry for '06-'08. I was medically retired in 2009 after an IED went off next to my humvee and gave me a traumatic brain injury. And ever woman I met the entire time I was in the army was fucking worthless. So suck it.
